Welcome to the Courtyard Hotel, Leixlip. The hotel is the latest addition to the Moriarty Group, a fully Irish owned family business, priding itself on customer care and guest comfort. After many years of careful restoration, we believe that we have developed one of the most unique hotels to emerge onto the Irish market in recent times. The hotel combines remnants of the old Guinness Brewery, which was the original birthplace of Guinness.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had the time of my life when I went to eat at the courtyard. There was a very helpful staff team. I loved the food. The only problem was the waiter dosent get payed more. The waiter who brought my drinks name was Jonathan. He was very tall and the most helpful employee I have ever seen. He was a pleasure to do business with. All restaurants could use a Jonathan. I really hope he still works there when I come back. I wish that Jonathan works there 7 days a week.

We were so glad we chose a junior suite. Much quieter than the rooms on the lower floors. We could still here music after midnight but it was bearable! The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was also very good. We were so disappointed we could not have dinner in the restaurant - the first night it was closed, the next night it was closed for a private party but the alternative bar menu was ok. You should be aware that the hotel is extremely popular and therefore can be a bit raucous, which is not to everyone’s taste. Definitely recommend

Staff not interested in providing a service, need training. On check in wasnt advised about meal options times or locations, rate wasn't confirmed. Bar service very poor. Nightclub affects all rooms so bad nights sleep. Accommodation staff very noisy shouting up corridors in the morning.

Shambolic setup from when we arrived until we left. No waiting staff, no bar staff. Had to educate the person behinfd the bar on how to pull a pint of Guinness. Queue out the front door to the bar to order food.Waited an eternity until food eventually arrived. Staff have no etiquette or social skill training in this environment. Very poor all round. Wont be ordering food here agian in a hurry. Simply not good enough.

Beware bar staff either poorly trained or treat customers as idiots.....served Sauvignon blanc from dregs of one bottle and finished with newer non cooled different label..NOT COOL..at any level. Given air of authority behind bar, suspect is a " senior" staff member or "manager"

Response from Emma Donegan, Other at The Court Yard Hotel
Responded 8 Jul 2022
Dear fishingpaddy1955, I was disappointed to read your comments about certain aspects of your visit with us here at The Courtyard Hotel. I assure you that the experience you outline is far removed from what we are striving for here at the hotel. We pride ourselves on delivering a memorable experience for all of our guests so I am truly sorry that this was not delivered. Thank you for your feedback as it is only through constructive comments such as yours that we can be afforded the opportunity to continually check, train and maintain our normal standards. I hope it is not too long before we have the pleasure of welcoming you back again. Kindest Regards Emma Donegan

The hotel has an adjoining parking area that was free of charge. The hotel is alongside the River Liffey. The bedroom was well furnished. The bathroom had a selection of toiletries but for a couple sharing they were quite minimal quantity wise. Breakfast was perfectly adequate in a pleasant dining area. The hotel makes a good choice, as it was for us, for an easy drive to Dublin Airport via the Clonee area rather than the M50.

My stay in the Courtyard could not have been better. Sebastian from the bar was brilliant, and honestly made my stay. Hotels could use more people like Sebastian. The reception staff were fantastic, so lovely and so accommodating, particularly Lou. Highly recommended!

We visited for food on a Saturday afternoon, when we arrived the outside area was not to busy. We ordered food shortly after we arrived and were still waiting for it an nearly an hour later. We went looking for the food only to see the server walking around looking for our table even though we had given the table number when ordering at the bar. The food was mostly good except for a piece of paper in my Childs lumpy mashed potato which I brought to the servers attention. They said they would inform the manger but we never saw the manager. I will have to think twice about returning

Don't stay at this hotel on Friday or Saturday nights : they have late and noisy functions in their function room which is just adjacent to the second floor bedrooms - deafening disco noise until after 1.00 am! Parking is also a problem because the car park has no reserved spaces for residents - if there's a function all the places are taken and you have to park on the street. The charming staff are powerless to make any changes it's a management problem. It's a shame because the facilities and rooms are good. Eventually succeeded in contacting the hotel parent company three weeks ago (couldnt find email address for the hotel on the site), but have yet to receive a reply or even an acknowledgement of my email.
