We stayed here in March and loved it. We stayed in the Galway Bay suite and it was one of the nicest hotel rooms I've stayed in. It had an enormous bedroom, a small sitting room and a good size bathroom. Everything was really nicely done and the bed was huge and comfortable. The view was lovely. We had breakfast... More

This is the first time we have stayed at Gregans for several years and we were delighted to find it as good, if not better, than before. In the past we have stayed in the Galway Bay Suite but as that was not available we opted for the Capenwalla Suite and were not disappointed. A lovely big room, beautiful views... More

Unlike the other Ireland Blue Book properties we’ve stayed in, this one seemed in the business largely to make money. Room décor is soulless, food portions are small, prices are high and management, while “correct,” do not come across as caring. Plus a miscommunication about when children would be present at dinner was badly handled. We were told children would... More

Spent 2 nights at Gregan's recently, and found it to be as lovely and relaxing as we did on our first visit over 4 years ago. Our room was very comfortable, and we enjoyed relaxing there and in the "public" areas downstairs. The Corkscrew bar is a lovely spot to sip Irish Whiskey by the fire. We had a fantastic... More

Gregans Castle is a charming country house hotel, set in the Burren and complete with charming gardens. The eclectic decor (pale green walls with purple carpets and furnishings) adds to the charm. Our lodging was huge, with views on all three sides. The separate little sitting room off the bedroom was so comfortable (and provided a place to sit and... More

This unique old manor house is beautiful. It is located on the edge of the Burren and the views are amazing. The surrounding gardens are worth a walk. The rooms are country-chic, large and nicely appointed. This is the place to be if you are looking for quiet - the nights are silent. We did have a noisy radiator that... More

Gregans Castle is a stunning and special place. But this is not a place in which to swing from the chandeliers...and all the better for it. No t.v.'s in the bedrooms ....patchy wifi...get over it. That's the thing - this is a beautiful place - you do not need to be transported to another. I am normally glued to my... More

Super Hotel. Very comfortable and very welcoming with great lounges, bar and restaurant. Hugh room overlooking the water. Very clean and comfortable. Smallish bathroom but fine. Such a lovely atmosphere throughout and very "quaint" Nice location but with a car only. Books and magazines all over the place and not a TV in sight (but not needed there). Great breakfasts.

This is the second blue book hotel I have stayed in and as you expect, it is luxurious. We stayed here for Valentine's weekend. It was the first weekend the hotel was open for the season (it had been closed for all of winter). We arrived on the Friday night and stayed till the Sunday. On arrival there was a... More

This is a wonderful boutique hotel, which both my NEW husband and I enjoyed immensely. The staff couldn't be more friendly, courteous or helpful. It was a perfect location for a small romantic wedding and Im very grateful to everyone who made it such a memorable occasion. I look forward to a return visit on our 1st anniversary !

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With breathtaking views across Galway Bay and idyllically situated overlooking the unique Burren landscape, this is the ultimate luxury and gourmet hideaway. Simon and Frederieke together with their staff manage this oasis of comfort and offer genuine Irish hospitality, award winning innovative cooking and elegant bedrooms free from the intrusion of televisions. Antiques, an eclectic art collection, open fires, candles, jugs of flowers and Shelley the cat add to the indulgently relaxing atmosphere. The hotel while strictly not a "castle" in the usual sense of the word has been named "Gregans Castle" since it was built in 1750 as a more comfortable residence for the O'Loughlen and Martyn families from the nearby 16th century towerhouse. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way and the Burren Food Trail. The ideal location from which to enjoy the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Walking, Cycling, the Aran Islands, Horse Riding, Surfing, Sea Angling, Golf. Members of The Burren Ecotourism Network.
