We loved staying at this charming B&B...it's a great in between location to the Cliffs and Galway...the room was large even had a sofa with a fantastic view of the bay...the owner was helpful and available if needed... breakfast was great especially the pancakes! I hope to stay again some day
We were welcomed in on a stormy March afternoon and found a comfortable, warm, and inviting room. Owners were helpful and friendly with plenty of reccomendations for places to see and eat. The views from our room were great, and the property is convenient and immaculatly kept. This is a great place to stay as you explore County Clare.
Very quiet location with rooms situated with either a wonderful sea view or mountain view. Highly recommend this B&B. Breakfasts are cooked to order and the dining room is open for use throughout the day.
The first place I stayed in Ireland - I arrived at sunset to beautiful views. Annette's husband recommended a wonderful local restaurant for dinner and the next day Annette's knowledge of the ferry schedule saved me a longer drive suggested by my itinerary so I could spend an amazing day on the Aran Islands. Breakfast was delicious and the room very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!
My wife and I were on our way to the area in our rented car, when we booked this B&B online. We only booked one night, as we were unsure of the accomodations and the attractions in the area. We were in the middle of our vacation and our plan was to tour the areas of Ireland that interested us and make accomodations as we went, rather than book well in advance. When we arrived about dinner time, we were greeted by Annette and her two dogs, Goldie and Roxie. She showed us to our room and it was fantastic. The room is one of 4 for rent in the upstairs part of the Flanagans' home. Annette and her husband and son live in the downstairs part of the home. The home sits in the most bucolic of areas near Ballyvaughan in County Clare. The view from our bedroom window was of the bay (my term) west of Galway, with a house in the foreground and a small herd of Limousine cattle in the pasture just in front. The burren provides the backdrop in the view to the south, west and east. If you are looking to stay within driving distance of many tourist sites but don't want the noise and bustle of a city, this place is perfect. One thing to note is that Annette does not have the ability to accept credit cards and only accepts cash, although you can secure the room online with a credit card. When we first met Annette, we were not overwhelmed by her friendliness and outward warmth, but very soon we knew that she was one of the best. She asked us to indicate what time we would like breakfast and asked us to choose from several traditional breakfast choices. She explained that she wanted to have it ready to prepare for us, in order that we would not wait too long in the morning. Because it was such a great location and the room was so spacious and welcoming, we decided that we wanted to use this as a base for our day trips to the surrounding area. We decided that evening that we wanted to stay for another night and Annette was happy to accomodate us. When we came down for breakfast, Annette went about preparing it after inviting us to partake of the continental portions of bread, jams, butter, yogurts and cereals. While we were waiting for our hot breakfasts, we enjoyed fresh coffee and juices and hot toast from Annette's kitchen. One of the other guests had ordered porridge (oat meal) and then discovered that she could not eat it because of the milk used to prepare it. Annette took it in stride and offered it to us. I am not one to turn down good, home-cooked food, so I ate it while waiting for my Irish Fry breakfast. Of note, the other guests were a couple of young ladies who had rather special requests due to dietary restrictions. They had not made that clear the night before on the "order sheet", but Annette had no issue with the changes they requested that morning. After spending a while visiting with Annette and the other guests, my wife and I were off on our daily adventure. Upon returning that evening, Annette and the dogs greeted us and that is when Annette's personality revealed itself. We stood in the foyer for some time and enjoyed a lively conversation with her while my wife tried to entice Roxie to play with her. We soon felt Annette could be a long-lost cousin that we were re-connecting with after decades of no contact. She was such a pleasure to spend time with that we decided to ask for a third night, to which Annette was agreeable. Not only did Annette treat us like family for the three nights we stayed, she even offered to do our laundry one day, while we were out exploring the area. Our stay in Loughrask Lodge was as good as any and better than most of our choices while in Ireland. As a matter of fact, it was as good as any my wife and I have had in our 25 years of traveling together. Although, this home is away from the larger population centers, there are many places of interest within a few minutes' drive and plenty of pubs and small eateries to partake of.…
The owner - Annette helped us a lot while travelling from Galway to the Clifs of Moher and my Mother in law suffered seriously from some food poisoning followed by locomotion sickness. Annette provided us a room for the mother so she could get few hours rest. Remaining three of us spent time playing with dogs and viewing beautiful landscape. We were offered drinks and asked about other needs. Really nice experience. Thanks again for help and hopefully see you soon on our next travel. Milosz.
Wonderful place ! The house stands un the middle of fields along Galway bay : outstanding view. The B&B is gently and well managed by Annette who welcomes you with our Belfast heart and style. Don't bother the dogs too much.
Arrived here in the evening and were very welcomed by the owner. Come as a guest, leave as a friend was the text at the door. Rooms were comfortable but the heating wouldn't turn off. In the summer this is very hot... Beds were ok. Clean and neat! Breakfast was good. Good choice of food. A good place to stay and perfectly situated just outside the village Ballyvaughn. In the evening you can enjoy the wildlife passing by the B&B.
Very well run B&B in a great location. The area has many attractions and places to visit. The owner is very helpful with suggestions and recommendations. It is 45 minutes drive to Cliffs of Mohers and same to Galway. Loved the place and when returning to the area next time this establishment will be the first on our list.
My boyfriend and I spent a night here after driving out from Dublin to visit Cliffs of Moher and the Irish countryside. Annette was extremely welcoming and helpful. She gave us several suggestions about places to visit nearby and engaged us in friendly conversation throughout our visit. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable with beautiful views of the water. The breakfast was delicious. Our experience couldn't have been better.
