Guests have called out the Maldron Hotel Oranmore Galway for its impeccable cleanliness and comfortable atmosphere, though some areas might benefit from a refresh. While opinions on value vary, with concerns over room updates and the cost of food, the hotel's location is popular for its easy access to the motorway and Galway city. Service experiences are mixed, with commendations for staff friendliness but occasional reports of inattentiveness. The hotel's amenities, including the pool and breakfast, generally receive positive mentions, yet some guests suggest there's room for enhancement.

We arrived for 5 nights, staying in a family room which was spacious, spotless with a "cleaned and sealed" label on the door. Check in was easy and Covid 19 restrictions explained to us. The hotel are strictly adhering to the Covid 19 restrictions - you must book everything (great link available to use), you will have to spend €9 to have a pint, you can't sit outside with your pint (but you can with a coffee or mineral), you have to leave your table after 1hr 45 mins. The food in the restaurant is fab and the staff are so accommodating and polite. Full marks go to Glen the Asst Manager and Damir the night porter - couldn't do enough for us, so polite and friendly. Keep up the good work all. Hopefully we will return for the full experience if restrictions allow.

We stayed here for three nights . We had three nights bed and breakfast and one evening meal but we ended up eating in the hotel every night due to the professional service available . The hotel has qr code that links you to booking all food and facilities in the hotel . This needs to be done the second you arrive as it books up very fast . We only got to the pool once as all the slots were booked or book them before you arrive . The food for dinner was served in the bar which meant we could relax and have a drink during dinner and there was no pressure on us as we were residents . The food was very good and we enjoyed it every night of our stay. The rooms were very clean when we arrived and towels were left outside our door in a plastic bag each morning to replace the used towels . Hand sanitizers are to be found in many locations through the hotel . Social distancing was excellent as tables were placed 2 metres apart , the staff all wear masks at all times , all food and drink are served to the table . This actually made the breakfast experience very safe and relaxing . I was apprehensive going away from home but I can definitely say this hotel has sorted everything out . I must comment the manager and staff in the restaurant they are on the ball and he knows how to run a tight professional safe hotel . Fair play to them they deserve to do well . Thank you for a very pleasant and safe family staycation .

Spent a lovely 3 nights at the Maldron and the staff are truly amazing from check in to check out our stay was fantastic
Laura on reception was very helpful on check in and gave us great advice on things to do in the local area and explained all new procedures in the hotel. It was our first weekend away since Christmas and felt quite nervous so this made us feel so safe and secure
As a coeliac I enquired about different dishes suitable for me and Charlotte in the bar was so helpful and made sure I could enjoy a
lovely chicken supreme meal in the evening.
Glen who managed the bar in the evenings and the breakfast each morning always made sure our pre booked meal was available on time with no hesitation even though they were all so busy
The staff here take cleanliness to the highest standards and this was shown In the standard of our bedroom which was spacious and recently refurbished
Ciara on check out was very friendly and I just could not fault this hotel one bit and can’t wait to return again. The staff really made it for us considering how tough we imagine it must be for them in these times
Thank you Maldron Hotel

After being locked away at home for weeks the kids needed a treat of a few days break away.
Hotel reception should communicate more with customers checking in as we only heard there was a kids club from customers the day of our check out. No directions to the pool or where breakfast takes place either just room number and what floor it's on.
The family room is fine and spacious with 2 double beds and 1 single bed and was very clean.

Dinner on the first night was poor. Kids pizza had a sprinkle of cheddar cheese instead of the advertised mozzarella. Chicken burger was tasteless in a burnt bun. Heard a few complaints from other customers while seated in the bar. My wife ordered a drink and had to ask again 20 mins later for the drink once she got the attention of a staff member who seemed to be run off their feet. 3 staff members in a busy bar.
Due to new protocols and procedures we left after our alloted 105mins and returned to our room. Obviously kids get bored stuck in a room so having knowledge of the kids club would have been a nice treat for them but the information sheets we were given didn't mention this either. Games room and pool were fully booked too at this stage due to lesser numbers for social distancing purposes (obviously not your fault).

Breakfast was great early on the first morning. The staff were lovely and quick in the restaurant area but 1 sausage and 1 piece of bacon for an adults full breakfast? Never have I recieved only 1 sausage and 1 piece of bacon for an adults breakfast in many hotels I've stayed.

Booked a swimming slot for the next morning before breakfast from 9 to 10 which was the only available slot so had breakfast at 10.20. Don't leave breakfast this late if staying here as the whole lot of it was cold.

We only ordered pizza for the kids on the second night in our room as we ate elsewhere during the day and the bar was booked out for the rest of the night.
After going down for the pizza when told a time it would be ready we were told to wait another 15 mins (maybe understaffed?)

These are tough times for buisnessess so
hopefully these niggly things will be ironed out. It's more important now to give as much information of events and facilities to help families keep the kids occupied as due to restrictions people don't have the freedom to just go anywhere they want in the hotels at any time for the foreseeable future.

Midterm break away with 3 kids...
Firstly I will say the girl on reception when checking in couldn’t have been nicer and the room itself was spotless but that’s where the positives end I’m afraid.
Our room was situated across from double lifts with a glass partition which I think was meant to block out the sound. The lifts kept me awake all night along with children running around outside up until midnight. We had planned a morning of swimming but we were so tired we checked out before 9am to get home and rest.

Dinner in the restaurant was overpriced and not great. I never mind paying well for good food but feel robbed when the bill is high and the food is poor.

Breakfast choices were good but was sickened to see a member of staff take a teapot (meant for guests) continually fill it with boiling water and pour into a bucket/mop filled with some floor cleaner. The teapot was then put back for a guest to use. Surely this could have been done out of sight in the kitchen area. Not too pleasant eating breakfast with the smell of what can only be described as Dettol wafting about the place.
The orange juice dispenser also overflows (overfills the glass) leaving juice spillages on the floor. Sticking a wet floor sign in the vicinity doesn’t solve the problem. It’s an accident waiting to happen.

When checking out the girl on reception (I won’t disclose a name) asked how our stay was and I said fine but we didn’t sleep very well with the noise and she replied with “ahhh sorry about that.” .............

The hotel is located right by the main road and is relatively easy to get to. Check-in was around 17:00 on a Friday and it was busy however there was only one staff member on the front desk. I was initially allocated room 225 but when I got there it was right next to the road so the traffic noise was too high for my liking. Also, the tube carrying the hot air/water to higher floors also passed right through my room and there was constant noise from this. I asked for an alternative room and was moved to room 240, which was much better.

The room was quite spacious, and whilst it was generically furnished, it was adequate. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom included a tub. All areas were clean with the exception of the area around the overflow if the bath tub.

The hotel has a spa and gym and these were busy and obviously very popular. I ate dinner in the main restaurant and they had a two or three course table d’haute menu. Staff in the restaurant were exemplary and very friendly and the food was extremely fresh and delicious. The price was extremely reasonable.

Breakfast at weekends ran until 11:00, which was good. Staff were well engaged the the food quality was good. All standard breakfast buffet items were available.

The hotel is a 3* property, delivering a 4* service within its grade.

Our family of 2 adults & 3 children had a super stay in this hotel for the weekend. The hotel is well suited to families and children in particular. We had slots booked for the swimming pool, breakfast and dinner and the booking system worked well and no where was particularly crowded. The hotel was the perfect base for us for the weekend.
What particularly stood out to us though was how hardworking the staff were and compliant they were with all things Covid-19. The waiters and waitresses were brilliant at their jobs, constantly cleaning down surfaces and wearing face masks at all times. The pool staff wiped down every surface in between each booked swim slot and the housekeeping staff were very efficient. The staff have a difficult job at the best of times but with current circumstances their job is extremely difficult - so well done to all staff and management here. A top job by all.

Positives, most staff were friendly and everything was on site so we didn’t need to travel if we didn’t want to.

Breakfast was so yummy. It was very busy but the maitre’d had everything under control and running smoothly

Our 4yo has allergies and there was limited food options on the first evening. On the 2nd evening they had brought in foods for her to eat.

Pool was clean and the main point for us staying so they could enjoy lots of swimming.

Negatives
The room when we arrived was nothing like what the images online led us to believe of the room. It was about the size of a premier in room with a pull out bed. Also I didn’t mind my children sharing a bed I wanted them in a comfortable bed. When reception called through to housekeeping to let them know they would have to go back in the room to clean, even thought we didn’t touch anything, obviously because of covid, it was clear housekeeping were having a rant as they were still cleaning other rooms on the floor even though it was well after check in time. Anyway when moving my belongings housing ing where impatiently waiting for me. Note I was moving for 5 of us on my own as my husband had taken the children swimming while I sorted the room so I had to do several trips.

The decor is very dated, frayed carpets etc… also corridors not cleaned or tidied even though housekeeping were forever in the corridors chatting to each other.

The rooms were also dated, though not terrible they were certainly not bright and breezy like the photos show.

Another negative was the soap dispenser in the bathroom was on the back wall away from the tap. As a 5’2” adult I had to tiptoe over a wide marble counter to get any as no other soap was supplied. None of my children could reach at all and had to be constantly picked up.

Food in the restaurant was ok, though as with many restaurants they brought scolding food and plates out for the children, something I never understand especially when they place a scalding plate informant of young children.

Service was hit and miss, one waiter picked up my half drunk drink to take my glass away, when I said I was still drinking than he just put it back down even though he picked it up by the rim. Items were regularly forgotten or wrong food served. If the restaurant had been busy I could understand but at one point on our first night we were the only customers in there. There were definitely a number of staff who needed some customer service training which was sad as most were so lovely.

Games room wasn’t worth the booking. The only thing working was the claw machine. We didn’t bother with the “soft play” after that.

Although there are a lot of negatives I would still stay again as we got a very good deal and I would definitely take that offer up again I would just be aware of the dos and donuts next time.

We booked at the Maldron for one night's dinner, bed and breakfast as a family of 5. The booking was made by Laura who gave plenty of information about the new restrictions and health and safety measures the hotel were taking to ensure all guests have a great, but safe staycation. On check in Ciara also provided us with information and confirmed our dinner and breakfast reservations. The whole hotel in all areas were kept clean throughout our visit, with lots of additional hand sanitation points, even inside the lifts. There are plenty of signs and information about distancing and plenty of staff to offer assistance and guidance. On arrival for our evening meal we were greeted by Lorcan and Eoin, seated and relaxed to enjoy a pre dinner drink. We felt although the hotel was busy, the guests were spaced out and we didn't feel rushed. Our meal was served to us by Frank and Caolan. There was lots of choice and variety on the menu, including the new gin and elderberry cheesecake! All the food was perfectly cooked and presented, thanks to Chef Dean. Our room was extremely spacious and comfortable. Plenty of space between beds and lots of sockets for the teenager's phone chargers. Plenty of towels etc. The breakfast buffet has been replaced by a table service which, as a mum of 4 teenagers, I prefer as it adds to the luxury of a night away, to be waited on and served. Again there is plenty of choice on the breakfast menu and Ann and the staff are happy to mix and match choices. All in all we had a great staycation thanks to all the staff at the Maldron, but especially Kristian and Imelda and the rest of the cleaning crew who are constantly cleaning and making the hotel safe for everyone. Whilst all the staff are trying to assist all guests to maintain distances and hygiene, it is up to the individual guest to adhere to the rules set out by the staff and add a bit of common sense as well.

As a healthcare worker I have been staying in the Maldron, Oranmore alot. The hotel staff have put in a lot of extra safety measures to protect the guests and their staff, yet whilst maintaining social distancing they have still maintained that personal touch of care and service. after a long hospital shift, whilst staying away from home and loved ones, it's comforting to get some R and R at the Maldron. A warm welcome in reception by Philomena and Yasmine, Glen and Eoin in the restaurant ensure our comfort and refreshments, a bit of banter to help forget our daily struggles, nourishing meal cooked by Dean, safety paramount as distances are maintained, it's reassuring to see how they use PPE properly . The cleanliness of all areas and provision of Hand gel is gold standard. Thanks to Kristian and the house keeping staff at the Frontline of providing safe clean area's for us to re charge over night. And Steve on night duty should we need anything. The staff at the Maldron have proved to be vital in the frontline of essential workers, providing the friendly high quality service in a very uncertain time. I would urge families to support the Maldron when restrictions are lifted as this hotel has great facilities for families, couples and businesses. As soon as restrictions are lifted call in for a coffee or a meal, and when we are allowed to consider mini breaks and holidays, put the Maldron Oranmore on your bucket list. Great resturant, Glen, Eoin, Steve and Dean, warm welcomes , Philomena and Yasmine, clean and crisp bedrooms Kristian, fantastic pool and gym, cinema deals etc which I hope we can all enjoy again one day.

I would suggest a call to the Hotel and ask reception if they use a local taxi service in Oranmore, if there is a local taxi, it will be cheaper. They can give you a very accurate price depending on the part of Galway city you are going to. be sure to ask the fare if there is more than one person.
