Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. The photos have nothing to do with the reality of this hotel. The rooms were dirty, poorly appointed, no amenities, terrible lighting, no hot water, dirty bathroom looked like a bus station bathroom, had to change rooms 3 times due to problems. This was really a terrible experience. The web site for this hotel is NOT what the hotel looks like. The food and the dining room were dismal. Truly would NEVER stay here again.

Very gracious offer of change of room due to a big function and likelihood of party noise later in evening. Receptionist kindly informed us and provided an alternative room - the bridal suite - to ensure a comfortable stay. It was lovely and very much appreciated, at no extra cost.

The rooms were very spacious, comfortable well supportive beds, friendly and helpful staff and a good breakfast in the morning. All centered in a historic town in the heart of the Goldenvale. I couldn't fault it.

We stayed in the newly renovated area however the hotel is still old. iBetter not to book a room at the front due to the traffic noise. Rooms are fine. Only complaint is that windows don’t open enough and no air conditioning. Staff were lovely and the food really good. We had a pleasant stay at the hotel.

Room Tip: Cahir castle is a short walk from the hotel. A definite must to see and the tour is very enjoyable.

Hotel is located central on the Square, however, if allocated a room at the front (102) it is very noisy as the traffic is heavy. The room was immaculate and very roomy with the usual coffee/ tea etc. Bathroom and shower was great. Bar prices reasonable and a good glass of Chardonnay and Guinness served chilled. Unfortunately, the evening meal was diss appointing, and let the establishment down big time. I feel the Restaurant Staff need some training, I was unhappy with my meal so put it aside expecting someone to come and ask if i was finished / or is everything alright with your meal ? Not a peep from any staff member. 20 mins later I had to call over a passing Barman to take away the plate as the Fish was starting to smell. Barman opoligised but did not take matter seriously so asked to talk to Duty Manager. Would not recommend a Restaurant meal here. Breakfast was excellent, the server could not be more attentive, it was as if in different establishment.

Wow what can we say. We have been using the Hotel facilities over the last year both as residence and using the Hotel bar/restaurant. Rooms are very clean. Robert and David and their amazing team of staff always make us so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. It’s a great base to explore Southern Ireland. We can’t recommend it enough.

We have stayed here a few times now and it never disappoints. The staff are pleasant and helpful and always have time for a chat. The family rooms are spacious clean and comfortable. There is a great atmosphere in the bar with live music on the weekends. The location is perfect a short stroll to the Castle and the Swiss Cottage. The breakfast is 10/10 something for everyone on the menu. We will definitely be back.

Room was 165 euros a night. No breakfast. After seeing our room spoke to Receptionist to see if breakfast was included as at 165 euros a night and such a substandard room we thought it might be. I was told no. Room needs decorating. Carpet worn in places. Hole near bathroom door. Missing coat hangers . 5 at most for 2 people. Bathroom needs a makeover. Shower control missing bits. However Shower was very good. Cheap soap in dispensers. Floor tiles worn. Radiator rusting at bottom wires showing. A toilet roll holder positioned on wall right behind the toilet. Not good if you have short arms. No glasses. I did ask however was told in the bar. No offer to get them. Then glasses were removed from room. Had to get more. Tea and coffee and milk provided. Cleaners changed a few times. No hoovering. One day didn't even do bed. Just changed towels. No vacuuming. Bits still on carpet when we left. Not very helpful when wanting to go anywhere. Luckily we are quite resourceful and found events. For example bought tickets for a session in the castle which we had seen advertised told it started st 7pm. It didn't it started at 8 pm. We were offered to move rooms on the Wednesday. Far too late in the day for us. Why charge customers the same price for these rooms as along the corridor there were newly refurbished rooms at same price. We were told we asked for this room and we definitely would not have asked for this.
