I have previously reviewed this accommodation. A Comfortable bed. Good, powerful shower. Very pleasant views of the hills surrounding Clonmel. But expected a full breakfast. As opposed to a continental breakfast delivered to the room.
It was lovely to stay here, Declan was really nice. COVID meant breakfast in the room which we enjoyed at our leisure. The view was beautiful and it was modern with old touches, very clean and warm. Would go back again.
Arrived in clonmel and rang Declan. He directed us to the B&B. When we arrived he was there to greet us. Very friendly. The b&b was near to all amenities and lovely walks. When we went to our room anything we could possibly need was there. The room was comfortable, spotless, airy and very peaceful. when booking asked if there was a double instead of twin as that was all that was left, when we arrived we had a lovely double. Bed & linen were excellent quality. Would highly recommend it.
While Hillcrest Guesthouse is clean we arrived to be told that no breakfast would be served ☹️then up to the room to find neither the TV or the Shower were working. I’m sorry but these days you expect the basics to be available and for my stay it doesn’t even deserve a single Rate. Alan
On arrival we were informed that the package we had booked, deluxe room with breakfast was not available. We were put in a double room with a view of next doors garden and a wall. Views to front of property would have included the mountain range . We were told that they were not doing breakfast due to the new rules set out by government (we looked these up and it was a basic lie to inform us that). We went out to eat early and returned to relax and take a nice bath. No hot water. We were informed by owner that we should let the water run (20minutes later we still had cold water) We then boiled kettles so we could wash. The water had clearly been turned off (we only guests in main property) At 6.30 next morning (after timer had kicked in) The water was amazingly hot. The cost on Booking.com was 90 euros - we were charged 80 euros because there was no breakfast available (where can you get a full Irish for 5 euros each?) More seriously was the fact that there was still water in our kettle (had that been in the kettle since lock down?) I left my phone number to discuss our issues with owner. He did contact me but said there was no reason for there being no hot water. He apologized. That was it - sorry that we paid him 80 euros to boil our own water to wash our hands. Seriously do not stay in this place. A total rip off from start to finish.…
Hillcrest is a very basic b&b, we would give very maximum 3*. There is NO customer service on site, shower was either very hot or cold, breakfast was very poor quality processed meat. Worst breakfast we've been served in a very long time. There were several things we were dissatisfied with. On a plus side it is clean and good location. Definitely not good value in our view
Like a previous reviewer we were left waiting on the doorstep. Perhaps we should have gone elsewhere. Let’s start with the good. Reasonable room, close to town centre and warm, well cooked breakfast but small portions. Day one breakfast was tiny sausages and bacon with quarter of tomato, day two half a tomato at breakfast. Maybe if we had stayed longer we would have qualified for a whole one. Toast was cooked well on day 1 but excuses on day 2. Toast isn’t actually difficult to brown. Excuses aren’t wanted Guest lounge was locked on arrival and stayed locked. It was also locked second night as well. Loads of excuses for locking, insurance and security in the main. It actually looks like a family room they don’t want to share. They claim it’s open from breakfast until 10pm. We arrived early evening and it was locked. And it was locked following night when we returned back at 9pm Website also claims all rooms have plasma tv’s. The 1st generation lcd with its dreadful picture quality was certainly no plasma. And it wasn’t even widescreen. Badly placed on wall made it even more unwatchable. Unfriendly, badly described which is certainly not in line with any trade descriptions act. We certainly wouldn’t recommend …
Unfortunately I never had the chance to set foot in the door. I arrived and pressed the buzzer, a woman answered via intercom. It seemed at the time the woman could not understand my enquiry (regarding availability) on the two way. After confusion and a few inaudible responses it went quiet, we waited a few minutes and eventually my companion and I left. We are very displeased and disappointed but fortunately stumbled across a beautiful b&b on the other side of town.
Private parking and a very short walk into town are two attractions of this fabulous guest house. Run by a very friendly host , Declan , this place has large rooms with modern decor with modern fixtures and fittings and was bliss after 9 hours on a motorcycle! Breakfast was the best I had on the whole trip with very tasty fresh eggs!! The place is great value. Great pubs and restaurants nearby. Quiet at night . Just book it - we were mightily impressed.
we stayed at the hillcrest for 3 nightsLovely place to stay very friendly and helpful lovely spaces room very clean with lovely breakfast and close to town 10 mins walk with nice bars and restaurants will come back again
