Just spent a very enjoyable and memorable weekend at Ballymcscanlon Hse Hotel. It was my mothers Birthday and the staff went above and beyond to ensure she and the whole family were looked after, The food and service in the main restaurant was excellent. The facilities were enjoyed by all. Looking forward to my next visit

I have always enjoyed going to bar for food. However the last number of visits the service I have received was very poor. On the most recent visit when we arrived it took 20 minutes for us to be given menus. We had to ask a staff member for them. Again no one came over to take our order I had to chase down a waiter to order. Once our meal arrived it was fine but nothing special. However no one checked in on us once the meal was served. We then had to ask two different staff members for the bill which took 20 minutes for it to appear. The bar wasn’t that busy so I’ve no idea why the service was so poor. It used to an experience and luxury to go here. Now it’s a chore.

We had our wedding reception on 16th April a memorable day was had for us with family, friends and colleagues. The grounds of this hotel are fabulous everything was perfect, a special thanks to all the staff for making our day so special. From the moment we contacted the Ballymacscallon in February 2021 Karen was extremely helpful and approachable. I had many questions and Karen answered each one with lots of advise and guidance. There was also plenty of help via email and phone by the reception staff and Karen throughout the months leading up to accommodation bookings special thanks to Linda who I dealt with on a number of occasions. Thanks to the kitchen staff and head chef for the beautiful food we had many compliments. Thanks to Fiona for the diligent planning with the table plans, menu tastings, email correspondences, ceremony and dining rooms organising and logistics. Finally thanks to Olly for being with us the day and evening of the wedding the planning coordination was seamless. We looking forward to returning very soon. Many thanks Regards Edel & Ken

Nice hotel with a golf course and tennis courts. Leisure centre is dated but still good for a swim. Nice breakfast. Evening meal was very nice and plenty of food on the plate. Rooms were nice. Staff very friendly.

Met up with family for a lovely Sunday lunch. Good social distancing and lovely food. Menu good and also good service. We ate in the restaurant and had booked in advance although the bar was more crowded. Easy parking in large car park. Would recommend

We had our wedding reception at the Ballymac in March this year and we couldn't have had a better experience, everything went perfectly and we can't thank the staff enough for all their help in the lead up and on the day. We met with Karen one of the managers a few times before the wedding and she was lovely to work with, really friendly and approachable! I had loads of help with the accommodation from several members of the reception staff and they were also very helpful. Ollie looked after us on the day and nothing was too much trouble and the day went so smoothly, we didn't have to worry about a thing. We also had loads of compliments from our guests who said they loved the food and thought the venue was wonderful. We will definitely be back! Thanks to everyone at the Ballymac!

Very disappointing, certainly not 4 star standard or service. Booked a twin room as mother &daughter, the room was extremely dated, and small I’m size. The pillows were very uncomfortable-hard as rocks & the beds were very basic. The room wasn’t cleaned very well, dirty teaspoons & cups, dusty & hairs in the bathroom which was very disappointing. However they did provide the requested fridge which was very useful to have. Breakfast was extremely basic very little choice of pastries/fruit etc. We had dinner one night in the bar which was tasty, however the staff were run of their feet as there was only 3 on total for a full bar! The other night we had a meal included in the restaurant, not much of an atmosphere & very disappointing meal. Ordered the duck which certainly wasn’t “roasted “ more like steamed was extremely chewy & tough , the waitress did ask if I’d like to change but at the stage I’d lost my appetite so she offered me a steak knife instead! Dessert was suppose to be a crumble but was more like some form Of apple pastry! Basically not what was described on the menu. Overall won’t be returning as certainly not worth the price. Staff were all very friendly & lovely grounds on hotel.

When i enquired about this Hotel, i spoke to a lady called Linda. I explained to her about my wife being disabled and confined to a wheelchair and that i would need an accessible room with a gap under the bed, to accommodate the use of a steady aid. This device is to help transfer my wife onto the bed or toilet from the wheelchair. I arrived at the hotel on the 29th of March and was taken to room 25 by Linda, and believe me, all was good. We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. The next evening we went to the bar, which had access from the leisure area. The door, however was blocked and a note saying to use the main entrance at reception which had four steps, very handy for wheelchair access. We got in after the receptionist removed the chair. Ordered food and after a 40 minute wait, we left the bar and asked for our food to be brought to our room, when the food was brought the chips were awful, i asked for to see a manager and Fiona dealt with my issue immediately. This hotel has beautiful grounds, the room was bright and not cramped. Would go again.

I bought my parents a stay at the Ballymascanlon for their 50th wedding anniversary. They were so delighted with their visit there. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. The hotel and the grounds were beautiful. The rooms were large, very tastefully decorated, with gorgeous views and an impressive bathroom. They had dinner as part of their package which was four courses. They told me just how delicious all of the courses were and that the breakfast the follow day equalled the success of the night before. I had informed reception that it was their anniversary as I had wanted to make payment prior to their arrival and as a such a thoughtful gesture, the hotel had a lovely bottle of wine and a card waiting in their room. They also wrote ‘Happy Anniversary’ on their desert plates. Thanks to the hotel for making my parent’s stay so memorable, especially with these personal touches. They were just over the moon with their whole experience.
