This was my first visit to this hotel and certainly form not on be my hotel of choice in Dundalk. The hotel is modern, comfortable and spotless. Comfortable bedroom with smart TV and great Shower. Food in Brassiere was good. However, it is the staff that made the experience all the better. Couldn’t be more helpful or interested.
My wife and I took two of our grand children,(5&8) for a rwo day break in Dundalk at the Fairways Hotel. The Hotel itself was very clean and well maintained, and staff were very helpful and friendly. Our family room had a double bed and two single beds and the bathroom and shower were spotlessly clean. The seat part of one of the chairs came undone, and I reported this to reception on our way out for the day,When we returned that evening the chair had been either repaired or changed. This is good service and also boosts customer satisfaction. Well done !! Breakfast was buffet style and was fresh and plentiful. We had dinner in the Brasserie, and the meal was excellent.Service was a little slow as the restaurant was busy, but one of the management staff apologised for the delay without us having said anything.Again, good customer relations. Overall a most enjoyable stay, and would return again.…
We had our daughters communion celebration in the fairways. When we arrived the staff meeting us was so friendly and took time to talk to our daughter about her communion mass and a champagne reception(for the adults). The staff was absolutely brilliant and very very helpful. We had a gentleman serving us at our table and I can only say one thing about him,he was an absolute gentleman. Our daughter has autism and he done everything to make sure she was happy 😊 The entrainment for the kids was brilliant.... a balloon maker, disco and a sweet cart 😍 all we can say is "THANKS SO MUCH TOO THE FAIRWAYS AND THERE WONDERFUL STAFF",We will definitely return to the fairways 😊
Stayed in the hotel last night as a treat for my wife who's been under the weather recently and in need of a night away. Where to begin, well the positives first "beautiful hotel, everything looks fairly new from reception right through to the restaurant, room was also first class but unfortunately that's where the positives end, in my book a hotel is only as good as its staff and my god did the bar staff and breakfast staff and duty manager let the hotel down badly. We decided to start our evening with a drink at the bar and something to eat, first off it was 6pm and the bar wasn't particularly busy, we looked at a menu and decided just to pick something from the restaurant menu and have it in the bar area, we ordered our drinks' my wife had a pint of Heineken and I was left waiting for my Guinness to be topped off (this happened with every order all evening) and always had to chase up another member of staff to get my drink, as we were sitting at the Bar on 2 barstools which were all ready in place and ready to be used by customers we couldn't help noticing empty glasses being placed on the bar counter to our left which slowly but surely came right down and in front of us and nobody behind the bar bothering to clear them, I asked the bar staff could someone please do something about this and was ignored, I asked to speak to a manager and eventually the restaurant manager came over 'she was pleasant and explained that the restaurant was very busy and that's what the problem was, I explained that at one stage there were 6 people behind the bar and this kind of thing just shouldn't happen if all staff were properly trained, one young guy spent about 30 minutes polishing every glass that came out of the dishwasher including pint glasses (which obviously shows a lack of training or possibly no training at all) this obviously added to the bad service. When we went to order our food at 6-30 we were told the menu we were given 20 minutes previously was no longer available???? Apparently when there is a function on in the function room they only do a pre-concert menu??? There was absolutely nothing on this menu that we wanted so we just ordered some fries. Because of the concert that was due in the function room later the bar area became fairly busy but at some stages it seemed that the 6 people behind the bar went down to only 2 bar staff at the busiest times which I couldn't understand, customers being ignored left right and centre, at one stage some kind of manager came to lend a hand and my god he was so rude and would completely ignore customers and then was very aggressive to some customers (dreadful) Unfortunately the worst was yet to happen, at approximately 10-45 myself and my wife returned to the bar and sat at the opposite end than earlier so as not to be discomoded by glasses being placed between us by staff members, anyway we ordered our drink but noticed that the bar counter in front of us was filthy and looked like it hadn't got a wipe of a cloth for sometime, I asked the barman (usheen) could he bring over a cloth (which was ignored) eventually he brought over our drinks and placed them right in front of us on the filthy counter, again I asked for a cloth which to my absolute amazement was brought over and handed to me, so instead of wiping the counter before either taking the order or before placing the drinks on the counter this obviously untrained barman expected the customer to clean the counter (an absolute disgrace) I obviously challenged this man who just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I went up to reception and asked to speak to the hotel manager, I was told that the main manager was not on the premises so they got the duty manager over to speak to me 'which to my amazement was the same manager who earlier was working behind the bar and being rude to customers, I explained my thoughts on the unprofessionalism of the bar staff to which he answered we had a busy night and what can I say, this made me realise how the staff were so unprofessional as it comes right from the top down. Needless to say we had an awful evening and couldn't recommend anyone to visit or stay at this establishment. Regards Joseph Healy Elaine Healy…
