Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My reservation with Booking.com said I had a room with a balcony, this did not happen. Room was spacious but extremely old fashioned. Wifi did not work at all, having tried several times. Television did not work. Ireland went digital some months back but this B&B has still got the old TV's in the rooms which do not work. Owner was polite and chatty but this did not make up for the poor breakfast. No pudding, brown bread was cut so thin it broke in my hand, no choice of cereal or juice and quality of food was very poor (probably frozen bulk buy). A good breakfast can be had at the Bridge Inn near Kaelkill, they certainly know how to feed their guests. Would not return to River Lodge as the description of facilities is totally inaccurate.

Most expensive B&B I had in Ireland. Also the only place I had to sign in and pay in advance. The owner didn't seem to enjoy their guest like many other B&B owner I met. Old fashioned is not even close to how it looks like in there. Breakfast was ok and the location in the river is great.

Ok, good points, I kind of liked the décor, the place has not been redecorated since 1974 and in that sense the house is ... interesting.
It's close to town. It's quiet. It's quite clean. Might have WIFI.

The attitude of the landlady was a bit 1970s too! When my girlfriend and I requested a double room she wanted to clarify "oh... with a double bed??" She asked us what time we'd like to have breakfast and stopped in her tracks when we suggested 9:30. So we bid a little lower with 9:00am and that seemed to suit her. Parted with €75 on a quiet Tuesday night (after driving from Dingle my haggling skills were shot! ;_; )

There were approximately 2 power outlets in the room. There was NO hot water in the shower after running it for 10 mins in the morning (grrrr) I hoped the breakfast would at least save the stay but it was a miserable cheap, low quality fry. We only found out that checkout was at 10:00am as the cleaner rushed us out of the room.

I'm still disappointed with myself that I didn't avoid this spot, but give two stars for the 1970's experience.

The accommodation was excellent and The Hostess spared nothing to make you feel welcome. The location is perfect as a base for local touring and the ferry to Garnish Island is within walking distance as are a number of fine places to dine.

Stay one night this week, I have pre booked it. I found the owner very nice and friendly, the main problem for me was the very unreliable Wi-Fi. Room decor was very much to the owners, not mine, room was clean, breakfast filling, ho had to pay cash as the machine was not working.
