Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My kid and I had fish and chips (16€ each) and my husband had lamb chops with gravy (20€). The fish and chips was over-fried to an extent that the bottom was soggy from its own oil. The fish was over cooked and chewy. Chips weren’t bad. The lamb was chewy and the gravy did not taste as if it was made from the lamb juice, but just general gravy. The lamb came with a few over cooked vegetables. The potato mash wasn’t bad but on the salty side. The staff did not come to ask if everything was ok even once, although the restaurant was almost empty. They did not ask if we enjoyed our food even when we paid. We did not get a dessert as we were put off the whole experience . The staff at least were polite, when we paid.

Was served by a young man wearing shorts & a T-shirt with a big hole in the side of it. We were asked to pay upfront after we ordered & before we got our food as they operate a pay as you go service. We thought it was a bit strange but paid up anyway with no quibble. We then noticed other tables were requesting a bill just before leaving so obviously it was a selective issue. We don’t know why we were discriminated against. It’s a strange world in there. Food was ok

Much has been written about this B&B and I will aim to be as objective as possible. I visited with a group of friends in May 2012 and this involved sharing one of the cottages with my party. I therefore can't comment too much on soundproofing as we had all supped a few pints in the evening. However the walls and ceilings did appear quite thin, so I would be prepared for some noise (mind you many hotels have poor sound proofing). The rooms are in need of renovation with old poor quality bedding and carpets. There were no wardrobes in any of our rooms, so hanging clothes was a problem and my room had some large cob webs as well as some damp in the corner which indicated sloppy cleaning practices.

That said it was a short stay and the B&B did the job, I wouldn't stay here with my wife but it is ok if you are with your mates.

The breakfast was very nice as was the quality of the stout and beer and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Had the room been cleaner and the price a tad lower I would have given an average rating.

In short not as bad as I was expecting based on some reviews, but the owner could easily spend a modest amount and raise the standards.

On arrival we were given keys to an upstairs room in a small chalet type house. You open the front door and infront of you is a fridge under the table that has a container of water and a kettle to make tea. No tea or coffee, milk or cups provided and this is to share with 3 other rooms in the same chalet!! No hand sanitizer in sight.😱 . We opened the door to our room where there was a double and single bed, a bedside locker but no drawers, no wardrobe. But the worst thing was that the place was very dirty. The carpet was worn and stained and not hoovered. The doors had dirt and dust on them and stains. The small en-suite was also grimy with built up dirt around the taps. The shower screen hadn’t been cleaned and inside was full of black grime in the door joints and the tiles were dirty. We are used to camping and staying in hostels but this was the worse B and B we had ever been too. Especially is it bad that this was so dirty when higher standards are expected during Covid. I went to the laundry room and got bleach spray and cloths and took an hour and half cleaning it myself as it was obvious that their cleaner needed to go to spec savers!! I didn’t see a hoover and saw that the poor elderly cleaner is expected to sweep up with a dustpan and brush!! I swept down the cobwebs and dirt on the stairs and washed the hand rails. I would not go back here again and would love a HSE inspector to call and close this place down. The only upside was that the girls serving breakfast were pleasant, but we were told to help ourselves to juice and cereal which again was not good during Covid times.
Would recommend avoiding this place at all costs and will not be going back😱😱😱

Do not stay here under any circumstances! The rooms are dirty and smelly and are rarely cleaned (only cleaned once during our 4 night stay (at our request). The rooms are very dated and the mattresses are old and uncomfortable. Black mold and spiders live in the bathroom.

We were originally booked into one room that smelt like someone had urinated in. Having complained and had the manager tell me that "we're not a five star hotel you know" and being accused of lieing ( that the smell was disinfectant-which it certainly wasn't) we were moved to a room with staines on the walls. We could easily hear people in the rooms around us moving around and talking.

The staff were generally rude and the chef was downright aggressive when asked to move her car which she had parked so close to ours we couldn't get into it.

They will take full payment upfront from you before you have seen the room making it difficult to get a refund.

The food is mediocre at best and overall the whole stay was extremely overpriced and awful.

I wouldn't board a dog in the perrin Inn let alone stay there myself ever again.

If I could give a minus star I would. An absolutely awful experience.

After being unable to find any other available restaurant in Glengarriff, we reluctantly entered the Perrin Inn. The food was over priced and easily the worst food I have ever had in a restaurant. We had two 'sirloin' steaks which were mostly fat and gristle accompanied by overcooked frozen chips. My daughter had chicken strips which were edible. My other daughter has vegetable soup with chunks of raw vegetable and a long grey hair entwined in the vegetables. Disgusting. This turned everyone off their food. When we observed the cook/chef slink from around the side of the building we knew where the hair came from. On informing the staff about the hair, she responed, 'really'. The soup was removed from our bill. This restaurant /bar should be closed. I feel sorry for the lovely bar man who served us, as he was really friendly and had to serve such disgusting food. Avoid going here.

We ate lunch here today and it was terrible…scampi and chips for €15 and I couldn’t finish either…my partner order a chicken burger off the specials for €12 and he couldn’t eat it…like something from a chipper van after the nightclub. We were disappointed as it was a family day out and the location would suggest they would offer better food. There were food vans across the way, I wish we had gone to one of those.

I ordered the soup of the day which tasted like flavored water.
I asked the waiter what the soup of the day was and he told me it was leak & potato. but when he served it to me, it looked like a bowl of orange sludge type liquid with the odd piece of carrot in it.

My partner ordered the fresh hake with chips,
The chips tasted like wet paper and the Hake was very disappointingly small for the price of 12 euro

Firstly I have to say I didn’t stay in this place -I did however , call in with my 6 year old daughter who desperately needed to use the bathroom after we came back from a walk around the village, our car was parked close to here so I said I would bring her in here - who would refuse a child to use the bathroom ! In we go.... I asked could my daughter use the bathroom , ok that’s fine I was told ..... we went to the ladies and they are pretty grim , anyway they have two cubicles and both of them have toilet roll that is completely jammed inside and inaccessible. As I was trying to desperately pick some of it out for my little girl to use, a lady came in , staff/owner I don’t know ? I showed her the issue with the toilet roll, which she seemed fully aware of, and I asked her could I have some toilet roll. For my daughter and she said SHE DIDNT HAVE ANY ?! imagine not getting some toilet roll for a clearly distressed 6 year old child ? She just said no and wiped around the sinks with a dirty cloth. I think this says it all about this place ! AVOID
