This is a beautiful stop to rest and relax in luxury before your next stop. So glad I came here instead of going straight to Killarney. This little town is picturesque and has it's own little ring of the Beara Peninsula. Stop here and be spoilt

Leo was a very friendly host - B&B is in a very central location with a good terrace and a small pool but ...... . Clean spacious bedroom with a good shower and tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast was just OK. The downside is the yapping dog next door which Leo admitted was a problem - totally spoils quiet read/relaxation on the terrace which overlooks the river. Night time dog yapping was also a problem. Note - B&B takes full payment up front.

Hello Raymond, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I note that this is the same review you left about my Bed & Breakfast on booking.com where you made your reservation. So, I will respond here with the reply I posted on booking.com, in the essence of transparency for all potential guests who might read this. Taken from booking.com: "For any potential guest who may read this, as I also explained to you, I use "Payments by Booking.com", this means booking.com takes guest payment on the first date within the cancellation policy before check in. For my bed and breakfast that means that guest payment is taken 7 days before arrival as my cancellation policy is within 7 days. I checked this with booking.com directly and your payment was taken 7 days before you checked in, not 16 days. I am delighted that you gave 10 out of 10 for location, comfort and cleanliness. I am also very happy you thought I am a friendly host, but this comment is confusing as your marked staff as 7.5 out of 10. Overall you have given my Bed & Breakfast a 5 out 10. I believe it is important that the full circumstances of why you gave this score are written here for every potential guest to read and understand. Upon arrival I greeted you warmly and invited you and your wife into my home. Immediately you both complained about the weather in Ireland...in September. From the way you were complaining at me it would not be a far reach to say you may have believed that I offer bed, breakfast and control over the weather. However, the sun did come out, thankfully, as I showed you to the decking overlooking the river. I then showed you the guest lounge, the dining room, gave you a lot of local information, recommended somewhere for dinner and showed you to your room. It was approximately 30 minutes after this that I heard a man shouting “shut up” aggressively. I looked outside and could see you shouting this across the shrubbery to the dog in my neighbours back garden. Funnily enough, I could not hear the dog yapping over your shouting. Further to this, the night time yapping seems to only have been heard by you. My own bedroom is on the same floor as the room you stayed in and I slept very well that night. At breakfast the following morning I came to the table and enquired if everything was ok and if you both had enough of everything. You and your wife asked if I am the chef, which I confirmed I am as I was standing there in my apron. Then you both proceeded to comment on how delicious the breakfast was. I then asked if you slept ok to which you, Raymond, proceeded to complain at me about the neighbours dog, who seems to have gone unnoticed in the 104 reviews other guests have left at the time of writing this on 13th September 2019. Not only did you complain loudly at me about this at the breakfast table, to which I was extremely amicable and understanding, you then proceeded to ask me if I could “tie a brick to the bloody animals leg and throw it in the river?”. I laughed this comment off but you were quite serious, which was noted later on by other guests at the breakfast table in the guest lounge opposite to the dining room. Upon check out you complained at me about my cancellation policy of 1 week prior to arrival. Again I thanked you for your feedback. Then you went on to loudly, I say loudly because multiple other guests overheard you, complain about how I took your money two weeks before arrival and what would I have done if you had cancelled. You mentioned how you exclusively travel the world using booking.com and this is the first time the money has been taken so far in advance. I explained that booking.com manages everything payment related and that is done so according to their own policies and procedures of which I have no input to. So, to summarise, for other potential guests who may read this: - I can not change the weather conditions in Glengarriff, West Cork or anywhere else in the world. - I do not agree with animal cruelty and will not kill any animals at guest request. - I have no control or input into the system called “Payments by Booking.com” which handles payments on my behalf. Thank you again for taking the time to leave feedback I always appreciate it and use it to improve my Bed & Breakfast whenever it is constructive and applicable. Warm regards, Leo"

We stayed in an immaculate upstairs room with a private bath in a cozy home with a lovely living room. Our host Leo made sure everything was perfect for us. In the morning he prepared an amazing Irish breakfast.

Beautiful bed and breakfast on the edge of Glengarriff. All local amenities just around the corner, including the boat to Garnish Island. Separate lounge available for the evenings and delicious home cooked breakfast served with locally sourced products. Gluten free bread was plentiful. Would definitely recommend this place. Leo is an excellent host, and his sister (or cousin) who helped in the morning was very friendly. Breakfast was the best on our trip to Ireland!

My husband and I traveled to Ireland in July of 2019. We decided early on we didn't want to spend our trip in a cramped hotel in the city with no charm. This is were Glengarffin comes in - a beautiful little village, West of the city Cork in County Cork. The little village sits right on the inlet - WOW. Next comes a place to stay and this is how we found the River's Edge Bed & Breakfast. First, the Innkeeper, Leo. He was wonderful from our first contact the inn in May to the time we departed. Leo met on arrival, showed us around, made us feel right at home, then showed us to our spacious room on the second floor with private bath. He gave us a recommendation for dinner that was delicious and the best part is the inn is just a short walk from the center of town. The Inn is beautiful and perfectly appointed, we several common spaces for relaxing and meeting other guests. And Breakfast! I've never seen so many choices for breakfast at a B&B - The food was scrumptious! Loved the meat and cheese plater for breakfast! There is a lovely outdoor deck and pool overlooking the river - it truly was picture perfect. We will be back, next time we head to Ireland!

Fell in love with this B&B! It was perfectly located in the heart of Glengariff and I received a warm welcome from the owners who were able to give great advice on what to see in the area. My room was spotless and cosy and the breakfast was delicious! Absolute value for money, thanks Leo and Mike!

Following the tradition of his family home's B&B, the 'fresh' owner of this site does a very good job from the start. What we got, a bit outside the main season: A very nice view to the old cromwell bridge, a personal welcome by the owner plus quite some extra support with our maybe adventurous way of travelling. When you enter your room, you'll first notice the tiny details: Water cooker and a selection of teas plus mineral water to make you feel at home right away. We were a little embarassed to turn up with walking boots and were kinda fearing we would not fit in the 'classy' environment, but this feeling was going away after a few seconds. The breakfast choice between fruits, continental or irish breakfast is top notch, the dining room is classy and cosy at the same time. It's a very good place to stay for a bit longer and it's definitely a lot of affordable luxury feeling you'll experience at River's Edge. Very, very professional. Thumbs up, Leo!

Thank you both so much for sharing your thoughts I really appreciate it. I am very happy you enjoyed your time here, it is a pity there was not any room for more nights!! Maybe another trip during the Summer to enjoy the decking over the river will be needed. Thanks again for your lovely comments and hopefully I might see you again in the future. Safe journeys!
