Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed 2 nights for a golf trip. Walk to Waterville course. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Sarah, the bartender, was incredibly friendly and accommodating to our group of 8. Rooms were clean and actually a quiet hotel to sleep at. We ate both nights at Smugglers. Great menu!!!! Breakfast was also included. Would definitely stay again!

Amazing food and great staff. What to say about this gem of a place. The food stood out and the staff were helpful and funny. Great all-around experience and compliments to the chef because the meal was something special. The location is right on the water, so you can see the waves crashing, and it has a lively atmosphere.

We had a room facing the sea. Room very basic but had a lot of charm. Nice restaurant part of Inn. Food and views great. We had an early tee time at Waterville Golf Club ( across the road ) , but they came in early to serve us a full Irish breakfast. Recommend .

TRULY AMAZING! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by Jillian who helped us with things to do in and outside of Waterville. She made our vacation wonderful. The hotel is situated in a great location and the food was really good. The rooms were great! I would highly recommend staying here.

Stopped off here on our road trip round the Ring of Kerry. Nice friendly greeting, Good coffee. Lovely views. Would have liked to have had lunch but they were fully booked due to a communion. However a lovely place to visit.

The restaurant We ordered two starters to share. One in a bowl and one on a slate platter. I asked for two plates so we could serve our portions. Two plastic picnic type plates arrived.the salad had leafy greens, however the leaves had withered and shrivelled, and imacerated… leaving hard green long stems… a fine choking hazard !! After the starters were collected. I had to ask for the table to be cleaned if the spills. Our main course was a black sole (€66) shared. We were told before ordering it was one of the last few remaining. I asked was it fresh and received reassurance .the reality was a sad greyish fish which was hard under the knife. I was nervous eating it. The vegetable was bright orange mash. This I imagine is a pre prepared bought in product…. And felt like baby food purée!

Beautiful located, amazing views. Lovely family run little hotel. Catered for all our needs including going to the bother of getting in vegan butter for us for breakfast. Fantastic dinner looking out to the ocean. Definitely be back to Smugglers Inn.

Travelling the Wild Atlantic Way we wanted accommodation with a sea-view. Well, the Smugglers Inn has sea-views all right! We had a room with a little enclosed balcony - almost a mini conservatory- closely overlooking the shoreline and the wild waves. As a bonus, just outside our room was a small public lounge area that we could also use to relax in. Staff were all friendly and helpful- as we found everywhere we went in Ireland. We felt the restaurant was expensive, but worth the money for a special meal- the food was delicious and beautifully presented.

The only thing that surpasses the superb staff, the superb views and location, is the food! A last minute decision to indulge in a night away in Waterville resulted in finding this gem, located on a stunning site overlooking the sea and golf course, a short distance from Waterville. From my first contact with the wonderful staff(other establishments please take note of how to deal with customers!) to the last mouth watering morsel of food, the pleasure was all mine. I will definitely consider embarking on the 2 hour drive each way in the future just to eat in this wonderful restaurant!
