Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A group of 5 of us dined here Friday night as it was a triple birthday celebration, great atmosphere, food was lovely and so reasonably priced. Alex our waiter was brilliant and attentive throughout the meal even if we got a bit rowdy at times 😂 would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fun meal in athlone

Went here with a friend hoping to have a great meal as it was highly recommended unfortunately we were not impressed service is terribly slow we waiting 20 minutes for our meal which we could forgive until it took 35 minutes for our desserts to arrive it would be safe to say we'd still be waiting only for we asked the waitress what the delay was if staff stayed off their phones and concentrated on their jobs they might get a descent reviews very disappointed...only one waiter was actually doing their job while the other were texting on their phones i5 will be a long time before I go through their doors again!!!

Birthday meal with my better half. Fabulous food. For starters had shared platter then steak on the stone that would melt in your mouth. For dessert we both had death by chocolat. Food top notch and great value for money. Lovely atmosphere & super service. Would highly reccomend a visit.

We stayed for one night only and I have to say that is definitely enough. There is no check in area - you basically check in at the bar. B&B is over the bar and you walk up the very narrow and steep stairs. Room was small and dark, bed clothes very old and cheap looking, radiator ancient, bathroom outdated. There were stains on the carpet and the furniture were kind of strange. You can have your meal in the bar and the breakfast is served in newly renovated next door restaurant. It is very nice and the food is good. We had dinner in the bar and also was good. The atmosphere in the bar is great and it is typical Irish bar where you will have great time with friends and family.

This place changed to a New Location and is not the Same as old. I have had 2 bad experiences in here and its enough for me that I won't be back. I always order the chicken curry and on this occasion it was awful the rice was full of water and the chicken tasteless when I went to the manager to tell him I was told in future don't order the chicken curry and he still expected me to pay for the dinner I hadn't touched. Awful attitude and it won't last long in this town against the other establishments. I contacted the owner who called me back and listened to what I had to say he promised he would speak to the manager and get back to me but that was in December so don't waste your time here.

My brothers sister and I had lunch in Murphy's law bar last week and it was a lovely treat. They have a good menu with something to suit most tastes plus daily specials. The service was very good and prices are very affordable. Highly recommended.

Murphy's would be one of the places I would visit regularly. Their food is always good. I've been going here for a number of years and never once have I had a bad meal. Their food isn't over priced either. Always leave here full. The staff are friendly.

I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely hospitality from this B&B.I arrived 20 minutes early - so I had to wait at the bar downstairs - but I was treated to a lovely cup of tea. The staffs were amazing, everything was clean and tidy and even though it is located above a pub, it was very quiet. It also offers free wifi, which I didn't use. All in all, a very good option for Athlone.
