I thoroughly enjoyed my solo trip here. The staff were very accommodating especially Avril in the breakfast bar she made me feel like I had a familiar face while dining alone. The facilities are great and the location is ideal. I would most definitely recommend this beautiful hotel.
Quite recenty we took a family boating trip on the Shannon. During this trip, due to unforseen circumstances we needed to cehck into a hotel for an evening. We booked two rooms at the Radisson Blu in Athlone. Even though we needed to check in much earlier than the general checkin time, the staff there made one of our two rooms avalable a few hours in advance to accommodate us. Our rooms were beuatiful and super comfy! We ate on at the hotel restuarant that evening and the food was so good and the service again was really great. The following morning we decided to have breakfast there also and even though we had not booked it as part of our stay and even though the breakfast dining area was super busy, the staff made every effort to accommodate us and were so kind. Especially a lady named Avril (i think she was a manager), a real lady! Have to say that for an unexpected diversion, staying at the Raddison blu in Athone was a great addition to out trip. Great service and even better staff. Sonya…
Deserves a 3* in my opinion , reception staff are rude and fed up looking , probably over worked as there was only one girl all the time on her own , bar and restaurant staff are attentive but the brasserie food was poor seemed the dinner was heated in a microwave , cleanliness could be better , room was very dated , loose hairs on the bed , damp smell off the bed sheets that seemed weren’t dried properly , stains on the walls and the TV wouldn’t work , reception lady wouldn’t answer the phone when she knew I was calling with an issue !
A very tired hotel in need of a major upgrade, loose taps, dirty walls, no ventilation, holes in carpet, no seal on shower door etc etc. These are things that housekeeping should easily spot and report not the guest. Having stayed in many hotels belonging to the group all around the world this is probably the worst
Traveled for a family occasion, the hotel was very nice and in a good location. Beds were comfortable and rooms very clean we had a nice view of the Shannon. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Free car park in front of the hotel was very convenient. I didn’t eat in there restaurant.
