A very comfortable, spacious, modern and spotlessly clean B&B, with really good breakfasts.

It’s a very good location to stay for the lovely town of Athlone; which is only a few minutes drive down the N61.

We just had one night here after a Wedding Reception in The Hudson Bay. House was very well presented externally. The interior was well laid out, beautifully decorated and seemed to provide all facilities for all needs. The couple who owned the property were very friendly and helpful. The whole house was very clean, spacious and very impressive all round. Breakfast was fine and everything in the dining room that anyone could want. Overall top class - full marks. And they dropped us back for our car to the Hudson Bay. Well done and good luck to them, hopefully we will get back some time.

Alverna House in located just outside the city of Athlone, very easy to reach and to see cause it's just beside the road.
The exterior of the B&B is very beautiful and the interior it's even better!
Ther is a very comfortable lounge and a room with a pool!!
The dining room is very clean and the furniture was great.
At our arrival we were welcomed by Ronan, the owner, he showed us our amazing room at the 1st floor..it was huge, clean, cosy! Then he suggested some placed to go in Athlone to have a dinner.. (in the city there is the oldest bar in Ireland, Sean's Bar since 960!!) Actually it was a triple and we were just two..so it was perfect!
The bathroom was absolutely comfortable, with all clean and with all the features we could have needed.
In the morning we had a very good continental breakfast (of course the traditional irish was available) and before leave we had a very pleasant chat with Ronan and His kind wife, we talked about italy cause they went there a few times for skiing.
Lovely people and amazing B&B!

Hi Diego, sorry it has taken so long to reply to you both! Thank you for leaving such a great review and we are delighted that you both had such a nice time while you stayed here. It was lovely chatting about skiing and good to get some tips for our next ski holiday in Italy (soon hopefully)! Best regards. Niamh & Ronan.

This B&B was our first over-night stay out of Dublin back in mid-October. The location had a definite "rural" flavor and was easy to find. Accommodations, as well as breakfast, were outstanding. Our hosts (Ronan & Niamh) were extremely helpful in guiding us to The Locke Restaurant in Athlone where we experienced an exceptional dinner. My wife and I would not hesitate to book with them should our future excursions to the Emerald Isle take us to the Midlands.

Stayed overnight when attending a wedding & from the minute we stepped inside we were made feel very welcome by Niamh, our room was clean, bright & warm, tea & coffee making facilities were provided . Extra pillows were also in the room which was great, the wonderful host also dropped us to the wedding reception. Breakfast was excellent with a variety of cereals, fruit , yogurts & brown homemade bread, cooked full Irish & eggs anyway you wanted them, Niamh was friendly with all guests enquiring as to how their evenings went, would highly recommend the Alverna House B&B

We stayed in Alverna House when attending a christening in Kiltoom, Athlone. We were very impressed with the facilities available at Alverna. We were travelling with a person in a wheelchair and the house is very disabled friendly. They have one ground floor room allocated for wheelchair access, there is lots of space for the chair in the bedroom (our chair is a custom built chair and very large) and the en suite bathroom in this room is totally fitted out for wheelchair use. The doors are wide, the hall is wide and there is plenty of space in the dining room. We travel in a large vehicle to accommodate the wheelchair and there is plenty of parking for a large vehicle at
Alverna House. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast. There was cereal, fresh fruit salad, yogurt, muffins, brown bread, etc. There was also a full Irish breakfast which was cooked to order, it was beautifully cooked and served with fresh toast, tea or coffee. Ours hosts, Niamh and Ronan, were really lovely people. I had spoken to Niamh on a few occasions before I booked regarding the wheelchair facilities at the house and she was very quick to respond and answered all my questions accurately. We also had another room upstairs for our stay and everything was great in that room also, well decorated and most importantly the whole house was
spotlessly neat and immaculately clean.
I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to other travelers and would hope to return here again at some stage in the future.
Thanks again Niamh and Ronan.

My friend and I stayed four nights with Nimah and Ronan. The house is a credit to Ronans building skills.Niamah was exceptionally helpful in giving us directions to where we wanted to go,and helped us in so many ways.We would definately recommend their beautiful Bed and Breakfast to others.Would have liked to have time to see more of their beautiful children.
Thanks so much Niamh and Ronan for all your kindness.

Alverna House is a good alternative to hotels in the city centre. We visited for a sporting event and in the past opted for a hotel but we got little sleep with the partying in and outside of the hotel. Here we had a good sized room for four, clean and comfortable and most important peaceful allowing a good night's sleep. Niamh was great with communication prior to our stay and accommodated our need for an early departure by allowing us to raid the breakfast room to our heart's content. The girls enjoyed a game of pool the night before and we enjoyed a quiet cup of tea in the lounge. All in all we found this more than adequate for our needs and it cost us a less than the hotel we planned to use. It is not far to drive in to eat in the centre of Athlone if required. The wifi was a bonus letting us get information we needed for the event the next day.
