The room and entrance are tired. Carpet in the room was stained. The beds are in need of attention. But worst was the smell in the bath room. Breakfast was average. You are also expected to pay up front.

Stopped in for weekday lunch it wasn't overly busy but I got the feeling there was only one chef on. Had the chowder which was look warm and overly salty. However the rest of my table had large chicken mains which went down an absolute treat. Will come back again at weekend to see how I get on.

An unassuming Pub just 2 minutes outside the town i was pleasantly surprised. Rooms were big, modern and very clean. Food - although pricey, was well worth the money. With the exception of some dodgey french fries, is quality, local and expertly cooked. A definite recommendation. Well done to Martina our waitress. If only more restaurants could have her manner.

We stayed a Shines for 2 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Fantastic value for money, the room was very spacious and spotlessly clean, the staff are amazing and amongst the most welcoming I've ever met - they just made you feel perfectly at home. Breakfast was excellent and on the second morning, I decided against the full Irish Breakfast...

We decided to go try something new in athlone and had never been here before. We should have tried this before but at least we have discovered a new treasure. We just had lunch and I enjoyed it so much that I am going to try the Sunday lunch in the next few weeks. Both my partner and myself heartily...

We stopped there for lunch, my wife had the fish and chips which were fine except for the overabundance of garlic. I had the misfortune of ordering the roast beef, it too came with a lot of garlic, more than I would have liked. I could have got over that except for the beef, it was as hard as the...
