Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you are pet lovers and looking to take your fur babies away this is definitely the place to go.
There was myself my husband and our furbaby and our daughter and her partner and their furbaby. Having never taken them to a hotel before we where a bit nervous as to what way things would go.
Our pooches are very well behaved but not everyone likes pets and we didn't want to be in the way of someone else enjoying their stay. We needn't of worried.
From the moment we arrived we was greeted by the owners daughter who I have to say she made us and our dogs welcome from start to finish. So accommodating and friendly. We where shown to our rooms and no they weren't the most modernists with the fancy of things but what they where absolutely spotlessly clean.
We have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels that haven't been as clean and wouldn't of had a patch on this place. I was highly impressed. Our room had everything you could possibly need. A Cosy bed bedside lockers dressing table with chair and stool a wardrobe with ample hanging space. Their are facilities to make Tea and coffee along with complimentary biscuits. There's a hairdryer and a welcome pack with all you need to know about the area and places to visit.
The en suite had a toilet sink shower and toiletry facilities along with clean crisp white towels.
We had great nights sleep and none of us where disturbed not even the dogs who are light sleepers.
We had breakfast each morning and it was absolutely delicious with ample choice. Me being a coffee lover was delighted to get a good size cup of coffee each morning. When checking out again greeted by the owners daughter who was pleasant to talk to as always, thanked us for staying with them and gave us all a complimentary keyring. We Would like to thank the owners John and Lynn who introduced themselves to us when we arrived as if we where friends visiting. That's exactly what it felt like visiting friends who where always on hand to help, make you feel welcome and make you smile and look forward to going back

I’d like to share my wonderful experience at this fantastic place. It truly is a gem for anyone seeking a warm, cozy atmosphere and exceptional service. Last week, I visited the hotel and restaurant with friends, and we were thoroughly impressed. The family-run business is evident in every detail, creating a unique sense of hospitality. The hotel was incredibly comfortable and inviting, while the restaurant offered delicious food and prompt service. Additionally, the location is perfect, with incredible nearby attractions. Overall, the experience was outstanding, and I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone!

Great Irish Hospitality. Four guys in their 60s stayed here for a couple of nights as part of a wider motorcycle tour. From the start, we received a warm welcome and were shown to secure parking for our motorcycles. We all dumped our stuff in our clean and spacious rooms and hit the bar. John, Lynn and Tara were all friendly and engaging.
Our own eccentricities were politely tolerated by Tara, who probably didn’t know whether to serve us beer or have us sectioned !
We were given great advice as to where to visit whilst in the area including it must be said rival bars ! We did try one but it was straight back to Rathbaun Hotel….more drinks and a great evening meal…( the lamb stew was a big hit as was the seafood chowder) .
After great sleeps, the breakfast was superb and set us up for the day out riding. We returned later in the day for another round or two of drinks followed by tasty ribeye steaks, cooked just as we wanted by the wonderful Lynn…..

All in all, a fabulous old fashioned Irish hotel bar, with a charm all of its own and lovely attentive owners and staff. We would definitely return and wouid encourage anyone else out there to sample the hospitality.

We booked this hotel in person at an agreed rate but didn't receive a confirmation email. 3 weeks prior to arrival the price was hiked up and we were basically told take it or leave it. Very disappointing approach to customers. While I can understand supply and demand, it is a reasonable expectation that if you book a hotel at a rate that the owner honours that rate.
If you book a room be prepared that the price agreed may be hiked up.

We stopped off during a cycle for coffee and a scone. As it was a hot day I also asked for two pints of miwadi cordial. I got an awful shock when I was handed the bill, I was charged €4 for two glasses of miwadi. The coffee was €3.50 for average tasting illy brand. Scones were also €3 each which gave rise to total bill of €17.
The price of the scones and coffee would have been tolerable if it had not been for the extortionate cost of tap water and orange cordial.

Stayed here over the bank holiday weekend and had an extremely enjoyable stay. The minute we arrived we were met with a big welcome. The staff in Rathbaun knew us by name and gave us great advice and help whenever we needed! They never failed to say hello or ask us how our day was. Lahinch beach was closed during the period we stayed but we were given a multitude of other options for swimming and surfing which we really appreciated. The food and drink was super, especially with the live music every night. The location is ideal for people wanting to be close to all surrounding areas as it’s a 15/20 minute drive from all the prime locations in Clare! Would highly recommend.

Hubby and I have just returned from a 3 day stay at the Rathbaun Hotel and we would both highly recommend it to anyone considering staying in the area. If you want a genuine friendly welcome to a family hotel where everything is spotlessly clean, where the rooms are so comfy, the food home cooked and tasty, the service exceptional, then you wont be disappointed in the Rathbaun. We had a lovely relaxing 3 nights, Lisdoonvarna is very handy for the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Aillwee Caves and loads of other things to do and see and we were so pleased that we chose the Rathbaun to stay in

We were accommodated last minute after a long, wet hike on the Cliffs of Moher as an escape from camping. Owners stayed up to check us in and were very welcoming, despite how late it was!

We got lots of useful advice on the area and the breakfast included was tasty and plentiful - homemade jam!

The family looking after us were soooo friendly and made us feel homely. Would recommend a stay!

Thanks for everything!

GREAT bed. I haven't slept that good in months. They have Musili for breakfast and I love mussil. Great wood stove and I love the radiant heated floor. I think the shower is new and there was plenty of HOT water. very close, literary a 5 minute walk to the closest pub just over the really nice old bridge, to some pubs and still close enough to walk to the other pubs. The internet is fast with no problems and overall for me the quiet atmosphere was very relaxing.
