We had a group of 20 people staying in the burren hostel, it was perfect, clean and Paula was so helpful. Nothing was too much hassle and the overall experience was next level. 10/10 would recommend for a group of friends
Part of the Sleepzone group of hostels. Looks like a former hotel that's now a hostel. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Room was fine – spacious, clean, and comfortable bed. Could have done with a comfy chair too. En-suite was OK, clean enough, but looking a bit tired and ready for a refurb. Common facilities were good, comfortable and spacious: lounge/bar; TV lounge with large sceen TV and big sofas; large dining room. Kitchen area was in two parts – one modern, the other not so modern and looking like ready for a major overhaul. Free WiFi – three different routers to choose from, but still erratic at times. Parking on-site. Good location close to centre of village and within easy drive of Burren and Cliffs of Moher.
My two friends and I were staying in the hostel, firstly the receptionist “Paula” was extremely rude when I was dropping my bags! Secondly upon leaving we found her in our room taking pictures a completely breech of privacy! To make the experience worse, she made inappropriate comments about one of our male friends! Her mannerism ruined the whole stay and we will definitely not be returning again! A brush up on her manners and people skills definitely would not go astray!
Had a 1 night family stay at this hostel. Location was perfect, close to all the sites of the Burren and a few hundred metres away from the town. Safe footpath to walk to restaurants in a few minutes. Ample parking. Family room was very clean and we all slept well. Ensuite bathroom was dated, yes, but clean and perfectly adequate. It is a budget not a luxury accommodation. Common room had a pool table enjoyed by children. Good kitchen and dining room. Perfect for a stopover visiting the burren. Staff at reception lovely.
a good stop off point. close to shops/bars/restaurants of Lisdoonvarna. a little noisy but didn't bother us much, spacious kitchen/dining area, very friendly staff. we'd private bathroom room 27 which was a little dated but room was spacious for a family and window opened for air. grounds a little uncared for but rest works.
This was my second stay in this hostel. It was just as I remembered and was a good base. Kyle on reception was so helpful and accommodating. It was lovely to see staff enjoying their work and interested in meeting new people. Got a recommendation from a female staff member (sorry didn't get her name) for a cafe in Ennistimon. Staff could not have been more helpful.
I have never stayed in a place as dirty as this. I am well used to staying in hostels. I don't care what the price is but there is just no excuse for mouldy quilts, doors, windows and floors. There was blood on the back of the bathroom door. Sheets with lots of hairs. Filthy bathroom floor, hasn't been moped. Windows have not been cleaned this whole season as there's so much furry growth on the inside. So much damp and mould. They've had many weeks of lockdown to clean this place and they didn't even bother to mow the lawn. Such a pity as the staff are so pleasant and friendly but i just couldn't recommend anyone to stay here.
Had a great 2 nights in this hostel while exploring the local sights. Little confused about the previous reviews - my group found this hostel to be exactly what is advertised. For the price we paid I couldn't complain. Beds were comfy, rooms were nice temperature and clean. Free coffee to get ya going in the morning and free parking. If your looking for a place to lounge about using WiFi all day, maybe save yourself the drive and stay home :)
This hostel is grand,I don’t think I would stay here again but it was super budget for what I needed,my daughter is a bit scratchy after her bed and so am I which smelled dubious so bring your own pillow if you are any way disgusted by weird smells, girl on reception was so so lovely, she is probably the best part, the common areas are quaint,no WiFi in rooms, beds smell like feet but doable if you are young and travelling about Europe
This hostel was awful from the moment we walked into reception as the whole place smelled damp and musty. In the morning, all of our clothes and bags were wet from condensation in the room and all the duvet covers were soaked. The shower in the room didn’t work at all. One of the receptionists was very hostile and unfriendly. The amenities were poor quality and everything smelled like an old community hall.
