We stayed at Henry and Elaine’s Ross Lake House Hotel for 3 nights in April 2013, one of our most memorable destinations in our tour of beautiful Ireland. Two and half years passed, the house, the owners and Connemara remained highlights of our Irish experience. Henry managed big hotels in Ireland then retired to run his own house. The Reids...

A charming Irish country house. The owners and the maître d are welcoming, the food is excellent and the grounds are beautiful. Drinks in the parlor before dinner We had two rooms, both were comfortable with views of the grounds. This is a wonderful location and a great sport for day trips around Galway area.

My fiancé and I spent 2 days in Ross Lake House last week. On arrival, we were warmly greeted and shown to a lovely period room upstairs, complete with four poster bed. We were joined for drinks in the bar downstairs after and enjoyed the owners' company for the night. The following day, we enjoyed breakfast made to order and...

This small hotel (or more closely, a large B&B) has elegant rooms. The breakfast is faultless and dinners are very nice. Having an owner run the kitchen means one can depend on constant quality. The property is tricky to locate. One needs to look for the roadside sign and then wind up a narrow, one kilometer road. The only downside...

By far the worst hotel on my current tour. Seems most rooms and the main aspects of the hotel are long overdue for a refurbishment. Would not recommend to anybody. Some of the photos on trip advisor are more reflective of the overall condition. The good photos of the good room must relate to one or a few rooms but...

We stayed here for one awful night in room 109 , the decor is from a past era, the beds are so uncomfortable , we thought about sleeping on the floor! Smells of damp, truly awful !! I will not go on , but it seems the standard here is they have 3 good rooms in the actual house, which must get...

The Ross lake house hotel, is really not a hotel, it's a country manor house. That is the key to this lovely place. If you are expecting a hotel with all the amenities you are mistaken. The beauty of the Ross lake house is that it's a HOUSE! You feel as though you are staying in someone's home, that is...

We stayed at Ross Lake while on our way to Connemara. Even though we arrived later than normal dinner hours, we were welcomed with drinks and a lovely dinner. They even served my husband, who wasn't feeling good, a bowl of soup. I'm stunned by the two negative reviews as our rooms were clean and comfortable and the owners very...

If you were looking for a modern hotel with all the brand-new amenities this is not the place . If you are looking for a true type manor house that is quaint ,private ,hospitable and fun then this is your place. The staff mostly Joe and Henry are quite the characters from a time past but are certainly fun and...

Not just nice rooms, but a lovely place with expansive relaxation areas and a quaint bar area with drinks served by the owner. The most gracious hosts you will ever find in all of Europe and we met a lot of gracious hosts. The one bad reviewer here was explained that their agent booked them on the wrong night thru...
