This is one of those places that one is reluctant to talk about because lots of other people might suddenly descend on it: it is a best kept secret among Irish hotels. The house is delightful, the service is excellent and the food is spectacularly good. Go. Enjoy. Don’t tell anyone else!
Probably the most special place we have stayed at. It is so well run by the owner, his wife and wonderful staff. The food is beyond delicious. Dinner is served every evening at 8.00pm with a new menu each day: three courses + cheese. Guests have separate tables in the dining room but there can be a great atmosphere, either before dinner in the sitting room or afterwards by the fire. Nothing seems too much trouble. The Cooked Breakfast menu offers a number of interesting and out-of-the-ordinary options - again, superbly cooked. Our room was supremely comfortable. The whole place is run without keys or locks. It is more like being in a family lodge than a hotel. The decor is decidedly old-fashioned but it is 100% full of charm and character. Don't come here if you want a modern hotel! It is on the lough and there are boats which you can hire, plus a sauna right on the shore. Lovely woods to walk in as well. An incredible place - totally quiet and peaceful. There aren't many like it, we imagine.…
We stayed for a night recently in Currarevagh House. We were very lucky in that the weather was fabulous . We sailed across in a sailing dinghy from Lisloughrey and landed the boat right in the garden. We received a warm and friendly welcome from Henry who was very informative about the history of the house and local area. Our bedroom , which had a lovely view over the garden and lake from a large window, was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and utterly charming - as were all the other rooms in the house. The afternoon tea and later dinner were excellent. I highly recommend a stay in Currarevagh House and we will definitely be back.
Another great holiday in this beatiful and tranquil location on the banks of Lough Corrib. Our room was really lovely. The food is glorious. The fishing with a local boatman is great fun. Most of all the family and team running the place make everyone do welcome and comfortable.
Outstanding location and perfect staff. Henry, his wife and the whole staff have put up an enormous effort to achieve the best in hospitality services and providing the best homemade product from breakfast through the perfect dinner. 5 stars all the way. The lag of a television in your room is to remind you that this stay will be to rewind you and focus on detoxing from daily stress. Henry will take care of all your needs. The afternoon tea with -of course- home made cake is also the time to interact with the other guests. For us this was our best stay in all the years of traveling around the world. We need to return sooner than anticipated.
Currarevagh House is a wonderful place to spend time in. We have just returned from a two night break with dinner each evening. We chose this house based on the very many superb reviews. I can honestly agree with all the superlatives used. The house is charming and welcoming. The bedroom was large and very comfortable with a wonderful view of the mountains. The organic food is exquisite. Henry, the host, is charming and friendly. It is a house to relax in and feel well. We used the sauna at the edge of the lake one evening before dinner. What a lovely experience. We were lucky to meet some very interesting and lovely guests . and to share some fun moments together after dinner. Thank you very much Henry and Lucy. We hope to visit Currarevagh House again.
On our annual visit to Currarevagh we again enjoyed five nights of a unique experience. The venue, the surroundings, the hospitality would be difficult to surpass. Thanks again to Henry, to Lucy, to June, and to the wonderful staff for a lovely stay.
Had a wonderful two night stay in this beautiful, peaceful lakeside house. The house is full of charm and is very comfortable with fantastic views and turf fires. The food is top class....fresh local ingredients cooked to perfection. There are woodland and lakeside walks in the grounds; a sauna looking out onto the lake, a boat available for a row around the lake and beautiful rooms to relax in. Afternoon tea is served each day and dinner is announced by the sound of a gong. The host/owner is very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this lovely house for a relaxing, get away from it all break.
We had an amazing short break at Currarevagh House. The location is spectacular on the edge of the lake (Lough Corrib). For me as a foodie the 5-course dinner was phenomenal - cooked to perfection, with an exciting menu. The atmosphere and décor were warm and elegant. The grounds are stunning and we took some beautiful woodland walks and some kayaking on the lake. We enjoyed a sauna and jump in the lake before check out. The owners were really kind and encouraged us to stay on a little bit to enjoy the great weather. Overall we thought the break was great value as the standard of accommodation, food and service provided was so high. A hidden gem in Galway, great for a relaxing break, a foodie destination or a couples getaway. Perfect for a staycation to see the best Ireland has to offer.…
Had an amazing relaxing break here, the hospitality and scenery were exceptional. The house itself is lovely to relax in and then you have a few really nice walks on the grounds of the estate. Would highly recommend : )
