Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just heading home after a fantastic night away in this fabulous country house. Everything was exceptional, from the beautiful rooms and drawing rooms, the location overlooking the lake, to the delicious evening meal and breakfast. Henry was a lovely host, and hope to return soon and use the additional facilities such as the sauna, paddle boarding and kayaks. One of the most relaxing and enjoyable nights away we have had.

The most enjoyable stay I have had in years. I did not know anything about it before I arrived but everything about it excelled. Henry is a fantastic host. The food is incredible. Lucy must be having great fun inventing versions of jelly and custard and rhubarb. I never had better and looked forward to a surprise every evening. The grounds are lovely and Henry will advise on walks Couldn’t fault it

Highly recommend for a night or two particularly for those who like swimming or kayaking on a quiet part of Lake Corrib. We did the sauna too which you have to yourselves for a couple of hours and is right on the lake - so perfect view and great to dip in and out of lake. Room was very nice and large suite with view over the lake. Bathroom may be a bit dated but shower was powerful with everything you need. Food was good for dinner but may not suit some people who are fussy as there is no choice (well you may be able to ask) and breakfast was super with Henry allowing me to pick 2 off the menu! Other nice things were afternoon tea and cake, walks around grounds and complimentary G&Ts knocked off our bill. There are only 8 rooms in the hotel. Recommend for quiet night or 2 away, particularly based on access to unpopulated area of the lake

Words cannot express the sense of quality and personal treatment we got from our hosts. A very intimate experience was how it can be encapsulated. A special place where everyone returns to. Food is exceptional and conversations amongst the small group is heartwarming. Unforgettable!

Better than ever with all the traditions preserved. Lovely day fishing on the lake and the picnic and kettle brings back so many memories. Food is just so good and rooms looking well. Henry is just the best host but thanks to all the team.

Back from our annual trip to Currarevagh House and as usual, it was a real pleasure. The hospitality, food, wine and fantastic company were as excellent as usual. Thank you Henry, family and staff for all you do to make Currarevagh House the special place it is.

We chose this hotel because they offer fishing on Lough Corrib which Henry kindly arranged for us. You feel like you have entered a different world from the moment you drive down the drive and it is like staying in a private house rather than a hotel. There are no tvs in the bedrooms and WiFi downstairs only. If you are looking for fabulous Irish hospitality with wonderful food in a traditional country house setting then book as you won’t be disappointed. We weren’t and the bonus was the fishing!

Moreclike staying with friends in their country house than staying in a Hotel. Henry and his family could not have done more to make us feel welcome or to help us enjoy our stay. The sun shone, the food was delicious, the house perfect as it is (tiger wall hanging and all). If you are browsing for a hotel in the West, stop. Stay here! Cannot wait to return.

Excellent atmosphere and service. Food was delicious. Went down to the lake house in the morning for a sauna before breakfast. Could not recommend this place enough. Forest trails through their 180 acre grounds .

Lovely stay in family home in beautiful old house alongside the Lough. Fantastic afternoon tea in the Drawing room. A wonderful tasting menu, followed by tea/coffee in the Drawing room. Great choice for breakfast. Lovely large bedroom and bathroom with stunning views of the mountains. Nice setting for an evening walk before dinner. Thank you for a special stay as part of our 25th wedding anniversary holiday.
