We visited here last weekend with friends in our caravans and a “ glamping-pod” . This site is in a really nice part of the country just beside Leitrim village and a short drive from carrickonshannon . It could have so much going for it but it hasn’t . There is a lovely pub on site selling tasty food and reasonably priced drinks staffed by helpful and friendly staff . The lady I met who owns the site was also helpful and courteous to me on arrival .. That’s where the good points end . As a caravan park it is really very poor . At night it’s black dark with little or no lighting . The road through it is riddled with pot holes and the pitches are extremely poor with very fine gravel which is constantly dragged through the caravan . They are very uneven making it difficult to get level . The water point consisted of a rickety old tap with a hose strewn along the ground and some distance from our pitch’s . The ground around is extremely boggy ( ok it’s October ) but needed to be cut . Our friends had a glamping pod . They said the bed cloths were damp and there were a lot of flys to deal with inside . They also charge €30 + per night per caravan and €100 for a pod ..not exactly cheap The toilets and showers while clean were basic enough . This site has so much potential and really needs to up its game . Sites are coming on in leaps and bounds in Ireland and battle bridge really needs to up its game ..

Rooms were fine however facilities are extremely poor and most certainly not worth the price. Interior is tacky and i felt like i was staying in my childhood room. Lamp had stain, the locker was dirty and there was cobwebs everywhere. No running water, toilets were a long walk and ridiculously dirty. There was period blood smeared on the wall. Customer service was poor but food in restaurant was good and fresh. Pot holes need to be filled. There was one curtain that didnt cover the door and didn't block out any light. It was all cheap interior and did not reflect the price per night. We are really disappointed!

Where do I start? Such an awful experience. I emailed 2 days before asking what time was check-in but there was no response. So we arrived at 2pm and a sign said to check in at the pub. There was one there, I checked their website and it said open between 9am & 6pm, but no answer to any of my phone calls. There was a sign on a gate which gave a mobile number, called it and was told check-in was at 3pm. The guy showed up about 20 mins after 3 though, a queue of us waiting, communication was abysmal. Eventually he checked me in at 3.50pm but then he couldn’t find the key to our glamping pod. Someone had to drive down with a spare key, we got into the pod at 4.15pm (75 mins late). The guy offered us a free drink at the bar to apologise, we declined. When we got in, it was dirty, no evidence it had been cleaned. Floor had heavy debris on it(clearly not vacuumed), there was dust on the bed frame, there were very stained cups, the kettle had mud on top of it, the water inside (which had been sitting god knows how long) was cloudy in colour, and the inside was manky dirty too! I get it’s glamping but c’mon! The bed was very squeaky too, you couldn’t move without a lot of noise. We had booked 2 nights but we left after one, we stayed a grand total of 17 hours. Never again, simply not worth the money when the basics are so poor!

It was the week of downpores and the rain never stopped, day and night, everywhere was mucky, that lane that we choose a pitch at end of, lane, awful, pot holes, muddy holes, needs fixed ASAP. I know no-one is responsible about the weather, I'm not saying that but this place isn't as I thought it would be, we travelled from Belfast to here and its definitely not worth that length. We won't be coming back here, we're moving onto Sleepy Hollow from here on Thursday heres hoping it's an improvement on here, it couldn't be any worse, so anything will be an improvement.

We stayed here for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend. We checked in at the pub with a friendly member of staff. We advised her we had 2 tents and a gazebo and paid the requested amount. She advised us to pitch our tents anywhere on the grass area designated for tents. We had just finished setting up our tents and gazebo when a very rude woman who I can only assume is the owner as she didn’t even have the courtesy to introduce herself, rudely told us to take down the gazebo or we could have our money back and leave. The way she spoke to us was appalling and her attitude was disgusting. When we questioned her as to why we could not have the gazebo she stated it was due to Covid and we had been told at booking stage. This was not the case and more importantly there were numerous other gazebos around the campsite! Secondly we were all from the same household. Thirdly the gazebo was not enclosed and was outdoors. This in itself was shocking given that the outside dining area at the pub/restaurant on both nights was full to capacity and from what I could see there was no social distancing exercised. We are seasoned campers and have never experienced this type of treatment from the owner of a campsite. Any other site we have stayed at the owners usually cannot do enough to assist you and ensure you have a great time. It’s an awful shame as the campsite itself is in a lovely location close to all amenities but unfortunately due to this woman’s attitude we will never stay here again or recommend this campsite.
