Detailed Reviews
I recently had the pleasure of returning to Craig Country House with my husband and 4 other friends. It had been almost 12 years since our first visit and we had such fond memories of our stay that we were determined to return. Unfortunately it took us too many years to make it back but I assure you the wait was worth it. This visit was just as I had hoped for. Our friends found our hosts, Mairead and Tom, just as delightful as I remembered. Soon no one felt like a stranger and we were all mingling, chatting it up and laughing as though we had know each other for years.
The rooms at Craig Country House are spotless, beautifully decorated, comfortable, and cozy. We occupied all 5 of the rooms at the B&B and everyone was delighted with the accommodations including the en-suite bathrooms. The breakfasts were simply delicious, with a full Irish breakfast that kept us going all day including scones, homemade brown bread, cut fresh fruit salad, and cheeses. Upon request, its possible to enjoy an evening meal in the dining room and we took advantage of this option and devoured a delicious Irish Stew, homemade bread and dessert. It was so Yummy! :-)
We were all sad to say goodbye at the end of our 5 night stay as we had such a wonderful time. On the bright side, we had so much fun that we are all planning to go back in 2024
I highly recommend Craig Country House to anyone looking for a wonderful B&B experience in County Galway with hosts that are warm and friendly and care about pleasing their guests. .Show less

My partner and I stayed at the posh Manor-house namely, Craigs Country House owned by Mairéad and Tom . The house well decorated - the room was spacious en suite with a comfortable bed and very clean. The showers were powered with hot water. The scenic garden and strolls along the country side left us feeling energised and peaceful. Mairéad is a well-renowned chef her hot breakfast is a must. DELICIOUS. The couple is very lovely kind and knowledgeable. Your stay will be warm and welcoming and you will leave feeling as if you’ve made new friends.

Delighted to see this Country House open again after covid. It is a delight to visit with high quality rooms, beds that are extremely comfortable, first class food, surrounded by a beautiful garden in County Galway. Mairead and Tom who are the owners and wonderful ,welcoming hosts who couldn't do enough for you. It is truly a gem to find when in Ireland. It's no wonder people go back again and again and the comments in their guest book reflect all that I have said. It would be a perfect venue to stay for the Galway races and central for travell, adjacent to bus and train.

Just back from a 3 night stay at Craig Country House and feel like we’ve just left family in Ireland. Tom and Mairead are the friendliest, most welcoming hosts you could wish for. We had tea and cake on arrival and we’re treated like long lost cousins from the off. Nothing was too much trouble. The house is spotless, the rooms all warm and cosy. Fabulous shower in the en-suite.
The breakfasts were fabulous. Home made pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, fresh fruit, juice, tea , coffee and the full Irish plus a side of scones and soda bread.
A fire is kept going in the comfortable living room and the house is full of beautiful pictures and paintings.
Mairead cooked for us one evening and it was a restaurant quality meal.
The surrounding area is beautiful. We will all definitely be back.

I cannot find words to express the experience I had with these lovely people who so graciously opened their home to us! Tom & Mairead (and Pippen) are THE most extraordinary souls to make all of your Ireland wishes come true... I've since bought true Shepards pie seasoning and ketchup because of their great food .. being able to get in touch with my heritage and roots is an understatement.

Excellent stay at Mairead and Tom’s beautiful home. Very comfortable beds, clean rooms and gorgeous breakfast. Lovely quiet country location. Mairead was the perfect host and our kids just fell in love with her 2 dogs! We will definitely stay again next time we are in Craughwell!

Stayed for a weekend, owners were so welcoming and took care of our every needs. Breakfast was a great start to the morning & beautiful walks around the house. Easy access to Galway or to Loughgrea. Would stay again.

If you want to experience true Irish hospitality, Craig Country House is the place! This B&B is fairly new, but don't let that fool you. Attention to detail gives it an old, comfortable feel. The bedrooms are spacious with all the amenities.
The hostess Mairead makes a fabulous breakfast and I guarantee you won't leave hungry! She also has wonderful stories to share with her guests.
Both Mairead and Tom go out of their way to make you feel at home. Returning from dinner one evening, we were greeted with homemade rhubarb pie. While we enjoyed the pie with Mairead, Tom, and their two teenagers I thought to myself, it doesn't get any better than this!
For those traveling to Co. Galway I highly recommend Craig Country House for a delightful B&B experience.

Having visited Mairead at her Bunratty B&B, we finally visited Craig Country House in May, 2014, with our granddaughter. This April, we returned with our younger son and daughter-in-law. The warm welcome and gracious hospitality of Tom and Mairead and her mother cannot be surpassed! And the B&B is as gorgeous as ever. We love that it is not in a busy area and we can relax, walk, visit the hounds and have a great time with our hosts.
On top of that, whatever directions we needed were provided along with suggestions to make our drive easier. With it being our daughter-in-law's first visit outside of the US and our son's first visit since the early 2000s, we could not have chosen better people or a place to make a great first (and second) impression. I think they will both return, as will we, in the future. Thank you, Tom and Mairead, for such wonderful memories for our family.

Traveling with a group of friends from upstate New York our guide chose the the Craig County House for us to stay in for two nights. How lucky were we! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. Mairead and Tom were wonderful hosts and we were lucky enough to meet a lot of their extended family as well, hi Joan and Katie. From the BEST scones in Ireland. to an experience of a lifetime visiting the Hounds, and then on to an amazing night of conversation and song with their friends, it was a stay that we will remember for a lifetime. If your travels bring you anywhere near the Craughwell, this is the only place you want to stay.
