Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cartron House is perfect for people that wish to visit the core of authentic Ireland!
It is not on a main route, but in a strategic spot from where it is possible to reach many localities in the centre of the Ireland, included Galway, Doolin, Mullingar etc.
Ann the manager is very lovely and friendly and accommodated us in any way.
The room was cozy but with everything we need, only issue was that it wasn't completely soundproof (building is a characteristic Irish farm), but luckily this was not a particular problem :)
Breakfast was amazing, with many choices available (also for people with special food requirements), everything was fresh made and served by Ann.
Her scones are special, the best ones I've ever tried!
Ann was taking note of the preferred time for breakfast, in case of special needs.
Dinner was available on request made 24h before, and food was fresh and awesome!
Wifi signal was falling quite often in the rooms upstairs, but it was ok most of the time, it could be powered up in case...and anyway we were not at the place most of the time, not an issue to unplug for a while!
We will definitely visit Ann in the future, hopefully with friends or family!

We stayed at Cartron House while visiting family. Our room was very modern, clean and well-appointed (the Nespresso machine was much used!!). Rainwater shower was very relaxing too.The landlady was lovely and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely dinner on the second night in the house. Everything in the house is fitted to a high standard. Highly recommend.

If you donate £50 to RNLI they will put a loved one's name " albeit in very small lettering" on the identity number of their new Shannon Class lifeboats. This what we did for my Father and Mother, my father's name is on the boat that services Clifden in Southern Ireland and my Mother's name is on the boat that services Wells next to sea in Norfolk England.
Over the last weekend we went on the Pilgrimage to Clifden, in doing so we met the lovely Ann Gardiner who runs Cartron House in Ballinakill in the county of Galway. If you want night life do not book here, if you want peace, cleanliness, garden to walk in, great food, great hospitality, great price, masses of parking space and central to anywhere in Ireland, this the place. If you are on the large size or have a disabilty like me, I recommend room 7. Plenty of room, a raft for a bed and a wet room of immense size, not one of those little fit the corner capsules that you can't bend over in. We had a great 4 days and if you like walking"'which I dont" the surrounding area is ideal. There is the area around Mohor and the Burren, the BURREN is just amazing full of antiquity Limestone paving and Neolithic burials and ancient ruins of Abbies and Castles. We drove from home which is in Devon to there, when we go again,"'and we will "we will fly to Dublin and hire a car.
Our thanks to Ann for a great weekend.

We had travelled up for a family funeral and needed somewhere close by to stay and Cartron House Farm was perfect. Lovely cosy rooms with comfy bed. Great Shower in the bathroom. Lovely grounds around the property and so much space for parking. Breakfast was lovely. Bacon was delicious and the Homemade Soda Bread was so good. Definitely try it. Fantastic selection of foods for breakfast as well. The host was lovely and welcoming and very friendly and attentive and she made the stay all the more pleasant especially under the circumstances. Would stay here again and would recommend it to others.

We had a family reunion at Cartron House recently and had a wonderful visit. We used the cottages, B&B and venue. Everything was great.
Ann and Timmy made our stay a time to remember. They go above and beyond at all times
For those who stayed in the B&B we couldn’t have asked for more, clean, comfortable, calm and excellent breakfast.
The cottages were well equipped, clean and comfortable.
The surroundings and facilities were amazing.
It’s no wonder that this place is so highly rated, it deserves all the accolades.
Highly recommend Cartron House.

I have stayed here twice before, and although I thought it was excellent then, the improvements are amazing. Impeccably clean, with comfortable, well equipped bedrooms; a homely dining room with the best breakfast imaginable, a large, warm and relaxing visitors’ sitting room (with its own kitchenette for drinks and snacks), and best of all, charming, friendly and welcoming hosts. All this set in beautiful grounds, with its own nature walk through the fields behind the property. They even have a large function suite for weddings and parties etc. Wonderfully relaxing, I can’t wait to go again! No wonder they are award winners - well deserved.

Cartron house is a stunning B&B in rural Ireland. Close to Loughrea it has gorgeous country views and the perfect venue for an intimate wedding or party. Hosts Ann and Tim are exceptionally friendly and helpful. It is definitely worth a visit and worth considering if you want a wedding or party away from the hassle and bustle.

Come here and enjoy a lovely stay with lovely people - Ann is such a nice person and she created a wonderful place to spend some days off. A really good breakfast awaits you in the morning and if you don't want to drive a long way to a restaurant: just stay with her in the evening as well - she is such a good cook!

I, the solo traveler, was making my way from Dublin to Galway. I was encouraged to stay the evening in this charming B&B on my way. At first I was hesitant because I simply wanted to get to my destination, but boy was I happy that I did! The atmosphere was charming, the house warm and comfortable, and the company truly superb. There was also not a hint of tourism about it which I cannot say for other places like Dublin and Galway. Go and have a lovely time!

Fantastic b+b, friendly hosts and the best Irish breakfast you'll ever experience! The room was exactly what we needed as a base for our holiday - the bed was comfortable, the shower powerful and hot and we had access to a communal kitchen and living room (and garden) if we wanted to get out of the room.
