Staff at reception were so friendly and helpful! I was attending a wedding and desperately needed my dress stamped and the hotel organised it for me! The dress was perfect and I was so grateful! Bed was comfortable, TV in the room was a smart tv which was great and air conditioning was a bonus! Would visit again
Lovely clean, comfortable and homely hotel. The only negative experience I had was going for dinner in the Lir Bar, giving my room number (419) then after the meal when I was heading out to get a breath of fresh air, being chased and stopped by the waiter who said quite demandingly "what about payment?" I told him I was staying there, had paid for my room on check in and that his colleague had taken my room number when I arrived for dinner. I had assumed she was putting my dinner on my room bill. Not a nice experience for a lone female guest, I'm sure you'll agree. But I didn't let it spoil my stay ... I just didn't eat in there again!
With the help of Mary in event planning and Alix in the Spa, I arranged a Bridal Shower for some close family members who wouldn't make it to my hen party. Both Mary and Alix were fantastic in helping me prepare for the group. They were super accommodating of last minute changes and preferences. Everything was organized meticulously. We had afternoon tea in the conservatory area and was taken care by Jolie who went out of her way to make us feel welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed to start our trip right. She even arranged for us to take some food away as we couldn't eat it all. The spa was such a treat! Extremely clean and relaxing. I would recommend a facial by Aoife! I nearly fell asleep :-) Finally we had dinner back in the hotel, the menu selection was fantastic and the food was amazing, plates were licked clean. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel enough, the value, the comfort but more importantly its the staff that made our visit so special. Thank you all for taking such good care of me and my group.…
Started with very friendly receptionist who made us very welcome. The bar staff and restaurant staff were also very friendly, helpful. The breakfast manager spoke to us on our two day break and was also very nice and chatty.
Sunday lunch was delicious, we had the roast beef with Yorkshire puddings. Best Sunday lunch we've had in a long time. All staff were very helpful and provided an excellent service. We'll definitely be calling in again.
I attended a wedding here in June..despite only living 25 mins away I decided to treat myself and book in for the weekend. The wedding rate was so reasonable for the weekend. Room was gorgeous, so clean and comfortable. Loved that the room got a freshen up on Sunday morning while I was at breakfast (lots of places don’t do this when you’re staying two nights) Breakfast was gorgeous and a great selection of options on the menu. Only one slight criticism - bar staff need a little more training to help them serve people faster and efficiently they were a little slow and maybe inexperienced but all staff were very friendly and helpful.
Well what can I say other than fabulous....first time staying certainly not the last...such a beautiful hotel. We booked the couples package as a treat as my husband was 50. We got a fully body Swedish massage each and it was amazing..aoife was the girl that done mine and she was excellent my husband also said the same but couldn’t remember the girls name....had a beautiful view over looking the Lough big comfortable room bed was super comfy...dinner was also included and it was so nice and next morning breakfast was lovely too....I can’t fault it in anyway we had such a lovely stay thanks for everything Lough rea hotel
Sitting here in bar area for the last 25 minutes and no one has come near me to ask if I would like anything. Not my first time here and imo very mediocre hotel . Be aware this hotel is no where near the city . And if you were to take a taxi it would cost you a pretty penny . The seats in the bar area are cheap and very uncomfortable. Not one for writing bad reviews but this is definitely not a good experience for sure .
Stayed here whilst over for a friend's wedding and I have to say that I was really disappointed almost from start to finish. Considering the price and image of the hotel, the quality throughout was really rather poor. I had booked a deluxe double room- which turned out to be a room with two single mattresses pushed together. These would separate throughout the night which was a pain. The duvet cover didn't do up and would also come off over the course of the night. Whilst the room was clean on arrival, the cleaning during the stay wasn't great. the bin wasn't emptied, the tea and coffee not refreshed, and the bed not even made properly on one of the days. The TV didn't work which was frustrating, and the shower curtain rail was crooked and unsteady when trying to have a shower. Breakfast was included but, considering the usual quality of food in Ireland, was really very disappointing and felt like it have been loaded on from a buffet out the back. I tried to order food from room service on the first evening as I had arrived quite late, but was told that there was no food after 9pm- despite it saying on the menu that it was possible to order sandwiches at this time. Use of the spa is at an extra cost, but was fairly pointless as there was no pool or gym facilities and the facilities that were there seemed to be outdated and in need of maintenance. With all of this put together, I honestly felt like I had stayed in countless budget hotels with better facilities/standards and, considering my expectations, It was just so disappointing. The staff were lovely as I would expect from anytime I have been in the country, but they couldn't cover up the fact that the hotel itself was not up to standards.…
