My wife and I availed of bed and breakfast at the Loughrea Hotel and Spa on Tuesday 5th November, 2024. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 15:00 and the receptionist was highly professional, very friendly and welcoming. We were allocated a large, bright and airy bedroom on the third floor with a panoramic view over the surrounding countryside. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and the furnishings were first class. The bed was very comfortable an we got an excellent nights sleep. We had breakfast at 08:30 on Wednesday morning and the quality of the food was first class. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and they could not be more helpful. On our way into breakfast we received a copy of the Irish Independent which was very much appreciated. When we booked out the receptionist enquired if our stay was to our satisfaction. We advised her that we had a very enjoyable stay and we received first class service. We have no hesitation in highly recommending the Loughrea Hotel and Spa where you receive first class service, good value for money and a warm and friendly reception. Well done to the management and staff. Tom Murphy, Maynooth.

I stayed with my boyfriend for a bank holiday weekend. It is a very nice hotel including the Spa experience which is very relaxing. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the rooftop garden is the top! The staff was very nice and polite. However, I cannot give 5 stars due to a very slow breakfast where on my last day I didn't get the tea I ordered which I am still waiting for 😅 the breakfast supervisor apologized but still the tea didn't arrived. I reported this in reception at check out hopefully they passed the feedback on. Also, personally I hate seeing in 2024 plastic bottles for water in the room which I haven't touched because I refused and I filled up my reusable flask at the bar instead. Please, replace them with filtered glass bottles. I also noted single use plastic bowls for fruit in the spa as well, when you can definitely use ceramic or compostable bowls. As customers we need to see more action by hoteliers to reduce our carbon footprint on this planet. I hope to see these changes when I come back because I did enjoy my stay and these small things were a pity.

My wife and I availed of bed, breakfast and dinner at the Loughrea Hotel on Sunday 7th and Monday 8th April, 2024. We arrived at approximately 2.15 pm and the receptionist very kindly allowed us to book in despite the fact that booking in time is 3.00.pm. The receptionist was very friendly, professional, courteous and helpful. She allocated us a King Room on the fourth floor with a panoramic view of the surrounding country side. The bedroom was large, bright and airy. It was absolutely spotlessly clean. The one outstanding feature of the bedrooms in the Loughrea Hotel is that they are soundproof which ensures that guests get a good nights sleep without interruption. The bed was large and very comfortable and we two excellent nights sleep. We had dinner each evening in the hotel restaurant and despite the fact that the restaurant was very busy we received excellent service from courteous, professional and friendly restaurant staff. The food was of a very high quality and it was very well presented which is a fitting tribute to the chef and the waitressing staff. Breakfast each morning was first class and thoroughly enjoyable. The supervisor in the restaurant visited out table and inquired if everything was to out satisfaction. On our way into breakfast we received a copy of the Irish Independent at reception which was a nice gesture and deeply appreciated. The one undeniable characteristic about the Loughrea Hotel and Spa is that the customer receives first class service, ecellent accommodation and good value for money. It is a comfortable modern hotel with excellent facilities. It is a real pleasure to go for a peaceful walk along the shore of the lake and view the wildfowl. When we booked out, the receptionist inquired if everything was to our satisfaction and told us that she looked forward to having us back at the hotel in the near future. We came away from the Loughrea Hotel with a feel good factor, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Loughrea Hotel and Spa is located on the verge of Loughrea town and a ten minutes walking distance from the centre of the town. There is ample parking facilities at the hotel which is approximately a forty minute drive from Galway city centre. I have no hesitation in highly recommending the Loughrea Hotel where you receive a friendly welcome, excellent food, excellent value for money and first class accommodation. Sincere thanks and well done to the management and staff.
Tom Murphy, Maynooth.

We stayed in this hotel on 16/8/2024 and when we checked in we specifically requested a quite room. We were allocated a room on the fourth floor. Around midnight we became aware of extremely loud noise emanating from a lower level of the hotel. We contacted the night manager by phone who informed us that the music would continue until 2 am and he was neither willing or in a position to lower the volume or turn it off. On the morning of the 17/8/2024 we met Mr. Dermot McManus, the General Manager of the hotel. Having explained the situation to him, his singular response was that he would have to look into “both sides of the story". Mr. Mc Manus undertook to contact one or either of us the following day in relation to what has happened, however, we have not heard from him up to this time. We wrote to the owner of the Hotel Mr. Pat McDonagh some weeks ago and never heard from him either. There was no sense of a duty of care or a deliverance of hospitality which might have been reasonably expected. We would suggest that this hotel should be avoided if you want a nights sleep!!!!

My wife and I availed of bed, breakfast and dinner at the Loughrea Hotel and Spa on Monday 2nd October, 2023. Ana, the receptionist, was very. courteous, friendly, helpful and welcoming when she booked us in. We were allocated a large, bright and airy bedroom on the 4th floor, with a panoramic view of the surrounding country side. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bedrooms in the Loughrea Hotel and Spa are soundproof which eliminate all residual noise. We had an excellent night’s sleep. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was of a very high quality with first class service. Breakfast was beautiful with table service and the restaurant staff were very polite, welcoming and helpful. On our way into breakfast, we received a copy of the Irish Times from the receptionist, which was deeply appreciated. The Loughrea Hotel and Spa is located on the verge of Loughrea town and is only a ten to fifteen walk into the centre of town. There are beautiful walks along the shore of the lake in a peaceful rural setting. There are good shops, restaurants, pubs and an excellent garden centre in Loughrea. We received very good value for money and we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Loughrea Hotel and Spa. The hotel is only a twenty five minute drive from Galway city Well done to the hotel management and staff. Tom Murphy, Maynooth.

Disappointing! I found overall the hotel very very dirty and old.
If I have to say something positive and to highlight this is the staff, everybody was lovely.
But the big problem is that the hotel is old and very dirty. The room as you can see in the pictures is not clean at all.
I booked a room with lake view. From the description and pictures I was hoping for a bath and shower. The shower is in the bath and the head shower is lock to the wall.
Even if there is a SPA in the hotel , do not expect bathrobe or sleepers. Whatever you book in the spa won't be charge to your room (would be too simple) you need to carry cash or credit card with you to the spa.
I went to the spa for the thermal suite, it matches the hotel. Floor was dirty, don't look too close in some rooms or the jacuzzi.
The lights in the bedroom are ridiculous and it's impossible to put make up on.
The room is definitely not spotless, the carpet is old and the mattress are old and very dirty. I had the bad idea to have a look when I left 🤮 Should have looked when I arrived.
The cleanlyness is very worrying and will never go back again. If the staff want to change or clean the matteress it was room 108.
Overall I really do not recommend at all. Go few km away and find something nicer.

The hotel itself is well presented and pretty clean and staff are friendly however even arriving just minutes before 3pm our room was not ready and when I came back nearly 15 mins later it still wasn't so the lady at reception was helpful and reassigned us to a different room, unfortunately we had started to unpack and we got a call to say we couldn't stay there and they wanted us to go to a room with a connecting door which really was not an option with small kids, eventually after reiterating this would not work and I had booked a family room we did get sorted into a family room but again with small kids it was the inconvenience of packing and moving after an already long drive and wait was just a little annoying. While I got a verbal apology I felt like it was one of those "annoying customer apologies" and not sincere and no I was not expecting or asking for any sort of compensation just an actual genuine apology. I appreciate it was busy there but at that hour it shouldn't have happened. We ate dinner in the restaurant that night and it was good however the chips were very bitty and a tad greasy. I can't say I wouldn't stay again as the hotel and rooms are lovely but I probably would ring on route to make sure my room was ready so as not to go through the same thing again.

I feel the Lough Rea hotel is like the boy with a curl, when it is good it is very very good but when it is bad it is terrible. We had our annual girls weekend away recently. Lough Rea worked as a central location for a gang travelling from many different areas. We had lunch before check in which was really tasty with good service. At checkin our receptionist was very unfriendly and information on our package was very poor. We all had spa treatements booked. Access to the spa is very convulated. Two of us were locked out with no access codes. It seems to be over many floors so up and down ifts and stairs; far from relaxing. One of our guests arrived at her time to be told it was a different time and she had missed her slot. She was rescheduled for next day. Another (me) was there for her slot but another was called and I was left waiting. I genuinely think if I hadnt queried the delay I'd still be wondering around the maze that is this spa. It is quiet a narrow cramped facility with a very wet floor. Slippers get soaked which is a bit uncomfortable. Dark relaxtion room only has 3 beds and the day relaxation room is cold with very little by way of refreshments like fruit or water. However the treatments when we all got them were excellent. We had dinner booked for 7. Orders taken food arrived but it took 45 mins half way through the mains after several requests and one person having to get up and chase at the front counter for our drinks to arrive. However the food was lovely and a guests allergies dealt with really well. Breakfast next morning was pretty much on same trajectory. Slow service with a long wait for gluten free bread which was not on the buffet and no green tea. Overall I dont think we'd rebook here which is a pity. Speaking to some locals through a friend and they confirmed that this is pretty much how the hotel is viewed in the locality which is a pity. There is alot right but it needs bringing together with a visible strong management team at peak times.

I had been told that as we were travelling for my partners 30th birthday there would be chocolates left in the room but unfortunately when we arrived there were no chocolates in the room, we had food in the bar which was really nice couldn’t fault it and later in the evening we had a 4 course meal booked in the restaurant but unfortunately this food was of really low quality and could only be compared to something that had been cooked hours before and re heated in the microwave, both myself and my partner handed back the starter and main and left before the dessert was served as we had low expectations for that after seeing the previous two course, we had pre paid for this meal as part of our booking but unfortunately had to go and pay for dinner elsewhere as the meal was really disappointing. There was also really loud music playing until after 1.30am which we had not been advised would be happening before hand. All in all I wouldn’t stay here again

Hotel is beautiful, front of house team are amazing, Spa girls were 1000/10, most of the staff we came in contact with were a delight! But I’m afraid that is it.
Thermal suite and changing area was very unclean and not maintained at all. Double charged at the spa, overheard other guests complaining of the same thing, as if no contact between reservations and spa reception. The shower in our room was not working, waited over half an hour for someone to come before giving up and ringing reception again, followed by another 30 minutes if not more waiting for the poor accommodation lady who didn’t know what to do or how to help us. We were told to check out the rooftop bar (beautiful) but only to then be informed it was for a private function only? The food was desperately overpriced for what you get, wrong dish and side dish brought out twice, served by a rude and snarky waiter who had no time to listen to our complaints at the end of the meal. Cannot stress how much of a let down this was, especially the prices and quality.
I’ve worked in hotels before and can understand mistakes but the experience we had was just awful. Would love to have spoken to the gm or manager on duty at check out but we were genuinely too hungry to wait around and had to chance breakfast in the town in the rain to avoid the same mistakes and staff at the restaurant. (Anyone staying in Loughrae, visit roots cafe in the shopping centre next door, gorgeous addition to the town!)
