Ballyduff House, built in 1760, is set in glorious parkland overlooking the river Nore. It is the beautiful home of Brede Thomas who, as well as running the B&B also farms. The setting is totally unspoiled which is almost unique in this part of Ireland.

We stayed in Ballyduff House the first night on our recent trip to Ireland. Our flight was delayed arriving in Dublin and although we had planned a stop before checking in, we were too worn out so we went straight to the house. Bred greeted us with coffee, tea and cookies in the beautiful library room. What a wonderful arrival! We had wonderful conversation with her before heading out for dinner. The next morning we enjoyed a full Irish breakfast. Such a gracious host! Only wish I would have planned two nights to enjoy the area and property more.

If you want to stay in a genuine Irish Country House and experience all it has to offer, Ballyduff House is the one to head for. We were at a wedding in Mount Juliet for two days and chose to stay in Ballyduff House instead. What a beautiful old building - full of character and history. Your hostess, Breda, couldn't be more welcoming. A tray of tea/coffee on arrival and the best full Irish we've ever had. We had the rooms overlooking the river but I'd say they are all beautiful. Great beds and total tranquillity. Great location to see Kilkenny, Jerpoint Abbey and the surroundings. Couldn't recommend it more highly. We'll be back!

We had a lovely stay at Ballyduff. The property is beautiful, filled with character, and Bred was the perfect host. The rooms were warm and handsome, the beds beautifully made and the Irish breakfast is not to be missed. All round, a wonderful stay!

I chose this place primarily because I saw in the photos that it was located along a river. When I arrived I was a little taken aback at how stately and beautiful it was. It's like something out of a Jane Austen novel. It's located several minutes' drive from nearby Thomastown. Tucked away at the end of a long drive, there's no need for keys. Ms. Thomas just told me to come and go as I pleased. When I asked what time breakfast was, she asked me what time I wanted it. The room was large and with the most comfortable bed I slept in during my whole trip. No TV but then that would have ruined the ambiance of the place. Wi-Fi was plenty good, though. When it came time to set out, Ms. Thomas gave me a great suggestion for a hike. Very reasonably priced for what you get. If you

Stayed last night in this stunning house with my sister. Couldn't fault a thing. We received a lovely warm welcome on a horrible wet evening. The room was stunning, spotless, comfortable and unique. Breakfast didn't didn't disappoint either - fresh fruit, full Irish - delicious. Really hope to return sometime. Very enjoyable stay and excellent value for money.

Ballyduff House is a bit special. It felt like we had travelled back in time to a period somewhere between the two world wars. The setting was spectacular, on the banks of the river Nore, a short drive outside Thomastown and surrounded by beautiful parkland. Brid was very welcoming, the rooms were delightful and what a terrific Irish breakfast! We will return.

We were so pleased that we selected this home for a recent one-night stay, and we would have happily stayed longer. This is an older, sophisticated country home with pedigree. We felt privileged to enjoy it, loving the antiques and old books as we do. The bedroom was larger than any other we stayed in during our 18 days, and everything was carefully selected for beauty and comfort. Bred was a warm and welcoming host, and we would happily stay with her again. Breakfast in the lovely dining room was a highlight of our trip. Highly recommend this choice!

The house is wonderful, out in the country but close enough to get dinner at the wonderful Mount Juliet Golf resort. Hostess Bred will greet you with tea, biscuits and a nice chat, get you settled for a great sleep in the enormous guest rooms. Loaded with history and charm, we highly recommend Ballyduff. Travelled as a couple. PS Bred’s hot out of the oven croissants are to die for!

We arrived at this beautiful old estate and were so please we chose to stay here. Walking through the front door we were taken back to olden times. The lovely owner Bred and her staff were top notch. My husband Ben and I enjoyed our time with her over tea in the library before other guests arrived. Our room was beautiful with a view of the river, horses and sheep. The bed was very comfortable, the best we had it all of Ireland. We walked around the property and found a garden with beautiful flowers and loaded apple trees. The breakfast was plentiful with wonderful too!! I highly recommend that you plan a visit, have tea with Bred and roam around. This estate is over 250 years old with others building much older, take lots of pictures. Enjoy!

We reserved in advance 2 double rooms at this place. A few days before arrival, we received an email from the owner cancelling our reservation due to unexpected circumstances beyond his control... After a checking with booking.com it was revealed that our reservation was cancelled due to overbooking. So That's what he ment by writing "unexpected circumstances beyond his control..."

Not sure what booking.com are talking about I have never been overbooked and certainly not on night in question, Sadly the unexpected will happen in everyone lives from time to time and not easy to get someone to stay in house., and give the same welcome as I do, wine ,tea and lots of chat by the fire in Library So yes I am so sorry these guests missed out on all this but perhaps another time. Regards Bred
