Ballyduff House, built in 1760, is set in glorious parkland overlooking the river Nore. It is the beautiful home of Brede Thomas who, as well as running the B&B also farms. The setting is totally unspoiled which is almost unique in this part of Ireland.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing 3-night stay in Ballyduff House. Beautiful comfortable rooms, excellent breakfasts. Fabulous location by the river Nore with Inistioge an enjoyable stroll away. Brede was the perfect host - relaxed but attentive, and very entertaining. Very good value for money. Highly recommend it!!

We have just come back from a two night stay in Ballyduffin house. We cannot praise it enough. The house and grounds are magnificent. TheNore flows at the back of the house. The parkland has sheep and cattle and lovely views from the elevated position, truly pastoral!Breege our host is very friendly and welcoming and it really felt like a home from home. Our rooms were gorgeous. If you like Jane Austen this is for you. The interior of the house is straight out of a period novel. If all the above was not overwhelming, add to that the beauty of the towns and villages nearby and the natural scenery and glimpses of the Barrow and theNore as you drive around. There are medieval abbeys and priories everywhere steeped in history and the whole area is unlike anything in the rest of the

Such a well maintained property and a warm host, Bride. It was a true discovery nestled in the middle of the Irish countryside. It's a stay that we will soon want to replicate in the same house.. And so cheap!

What a fantastic 3 nights at this wonderful home. As three couples, we had the three large and beautiful rooms in the main house. We had lovely weather and enjoyed drinks in the garden and library. Breakfasts are so good and Brede and her assistant Michelle made running this amazing home look easy! The area is beautiful and we spent a great day in Kilkenny, Nicholas mosse, Woodstock and Thomastown. All 6 of us can't wait to return.

We had the most amazing weekend in Ballyduff House March 6th - 8th for a 60th birthday gathering. The house is so conducive to chilling out in beside a roaring log fire. Rugs, carpets, large couches and wall hangings all contribute to a relaxing experience in a country manor house. The rooms were fabulously decadent and luxurious, crisp bed linen and beds fit for a princess. Brede is a wonderful hostess, so professional, generous and warm. We love the place and will definitely make it our go-to place for a family gathering each year.

We have just returned to Dublin from a most wonderful weekend in Ballyduff House. We received warm and wonderful hospitality from Breda, fabulous breakfasts and a beautiful bedroom overlooking the river Nore. Ballyduff is just a gem of place tucked away in Co Kilkenny and we will definitely return again the next time we want to be spoiled. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and kindness, we really enjoyed our time with you.

This was our first night in Ireland. We were exhausted from flying all day and driving on the ‘wrong side’ of the road. The drive up the tree lined country lane to this grand estate was magical! Our room and the hospitality made us feel like royalty.

Wonderful hospitality greeted us as we drove down the tree lined driveway. My daughter & I stayed again with Bred last weekend. She gave us the wonderful room with the four poster bed. The full Irish breakfast was fabulous with fresh raspberries & yoghurt to start. Overlooking the Nore River. We then went to visit Jerpoint Glass & Nicholas Mosse before heading into Kilkenny.

Run by the in-law descendent of the family that has owned this forever, set on undulating meadows with a river flowing below, this is exactly the fantasy one wants on Ireland -- charming, hospitable, homey and elegant all at the same time. Perfect way to relax only a short distance away after a long flight to Dublin

We stayed for two nights in the superb Ballyduff House. Everything was wonderful from the moment we arrived to the minute we left. Breda was extremely warm and welcoming and did everything to ensure our stay was first class. The bedroom was magnificent, the bed immense. The library was lonely to sit in each evening, especially when Breda joined us for a chat. Breakfast was delicious, served in the dining room overlooking the river Nore. We enjoyed exploring the garden and ‘walking the land’, its beauty and tranquillity was super. Thus is defiantly a place we will revisit. Thank you Breda and all the wonderful people we met who made our stay so enjoyable.
