Wonderful hospitality greeted us as we drove down the tree lined driveway. My daughter & I stayed again with Bred last weekend. She gave us the wonderful room with the four poster bed. The full Irish breakfast was fabulous with fresh raspberries & yoghurt to start. Overlooking the Nore River. We then went to visit Jerpoint Glass & Nicholas Mosse before heading into Kilkenny.
Run by the in-law descendent of the family that has owned this forever, set on undulating meadows with a river flowing below, this is exactly the fantasy one wants on Ireland -- charming, hospitable, homey and elegant all at the same time. Perfect way to relax only a short distance away after a long flight to Dublin
We stayed for two nights in the superb Ballyduff House. Everything was wonderful from the moment we arrived to the minute we left. Breda was extremely warm and welcoming and did everything to ensure our stay was first class. The bedroom was magnificent, the bed immense. The library was lonely to sit in each evening, especially when Breda joined us for a chat. Breakfast was delicious, served in the dining room overlooking the river Nore. We enjoyed exploring the garden and ‘walking the land’, its beauty and tranquillity was super. Thus is defiantly a place we will revisit. Thank you Breda and all the wonderful people we met who made our stay so enjoyable.
From our very spacious room, we contemplated the river below the back garden, realizing that others have done the same for more than two and a half centuries. What is extraordinary is the sense of layers of time leading seamlessly to the present moment. The beautiful library has books that must have belonged to the owners from the mid 1700's to today, and the house - although fully comfortable - appears to have evolved and been well maintained over the same span of time rather than remodeled by a corporate team. The marvelous artwork in the house and rooms has the same personal quality, and includes work by friends of the current proprietor and well as marvelous old museum-quality paintings and carvings. Life is a continuity, lived in the extraordinary quiet of this…
What a beautiful location for a wedding reception. We were blessed with gorgeous weather so Pimm's and Prosecco out on the lawn went down a treat. A simply fabulous location. The marquee was in a lovely mature garden and the facilities were more than adequate. I only saw some of the rooms downstairs as I wasn't staying but it feels like a much loved home and very welcoming.
This house is a beautiful old manor house. Large rooms that are full of mahogany furniture. It is located in the most idyllic country setting. Exelent breakfast. The owner is very friendly and an interesting woman. We had a loveley chat. I would very much have liked to stayed for longer.
We stayed at Ballyduff House for just one night, on our way to the West Coast, and it was the perfect start to our holiday in Ireland. It is a very special house, hosted by a very special lady. Breda gave us a warm welcome, with tea and home-made biscuits in the beautiful library. Our room was warm, comfortable and spacious with a lovely view down to the river. Breakfast was perfect. It is such a peaceful place. We would definitely like to return for a longer stay, to further explore this interesting area.
We stayed in Ballyduff House the first night on our recent trip to Ireland. Our flight was delayed arriving in Dublin and although we had planned a stop before checking in, we were too worn out so we went straight to the house. Bred greeted us with coffee, tea and cookies in the beautiful library room. What a wonderful arrival! We had wonderful conversation with her before heading out for dinner. The next morning we enjoyed a full Irish breakfast. Such a gracious host! Only wish I would have planned two nights to enjoy the area and property more.
If you want to stay in a genuine Irish Country House and experience all it has to offer, Ballyduff House is the one to head for. We were at a wedding in Mount Juliet for two days and chose to stay in Ballyduff House instead. What a beautiful old building - full of character and history. Your hostess, Breda, couldn't be more welcoming. A tray of tea/coffee on arrival and the best full Irish we've ever had. We had the rooms overlooking the river but I'd say they are all beautiful. Great beds and total tranquillity. Great location to see Kilkenny, Jerpoint Abbey and the surroundings. Couldn't recommend it more highly. We'll be back!
We had a lovely stay at Ballyduff. The property is beautiful, filled with character, and Bred was the perfect host. The rooms were warm and handsome, the beds beautifully made and the Irish breakfast is not to be missed. All round, a wonderful stay!
