Ballyduff House, built in 1760, is set in glorious parkland overlooking the river Nore. It is the beautiful home of Brede Thomas who, as well as running the B&B also farms. The setting is totally unspoiled which is almost unique in this part of Ireland.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed just one night over Valentine's weekend. Location was lovely, and Breda made sure the fire was lit in the fabulous library, so I could watch the Ireland v France rugby match (not very romantic of me I know!). We had booked a meal in Barrow's Keep in nearby Thomastown. The breakfast in Ballyduff was lovely, in a great setting overlooking the River Nore. Very good value - a hidden gem! Later that day we went to Woodstock Gardens for a walk - another hidden gem!

We thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing 3-night stay in Ballyduff House. Beautiful comfortable rooms, excellent breakfasts. Fabulous location by the river Nore with Inistioge an enjoyable stroll away. Brede was the perfect host - relaxed but attentive, and very entertaining. Very good value for money. Highly recommend it!!

What a fantastic 3 nights at this wonderful home. As three couples, we had the three large and beautiful rooms in the main house. We had lovely weather and enjoyed drinks in the garden and library. Breakfasts are so good and Brede and her assistant Michelle made running this amazing home look easy! The area is beautiful and we spent a great day in Kilkenny, Nicholas mosse, Woodstock and Thomastown. All 6 of us can't wait to return.

Ballyduff house is such a treat. Breda is an amazing host so welcoming and a breakfast to die for. It was hard to leave :-)
This beautiful house is like stepping back into a Jane Austen novel, the library is so inviting and comfortable to relax for the evening. The bedrooms are spotless and it is so cosy and warm too.

Had booked 2 night stay for a family wedding. The hosts daughter rang and cancelled our booking less than 24 hours before our stay. Had to book very expensive alternative accommodation as there was nothing available at such late notice. No apology.

We had a really enjoyable one-night stay at Ballyduff House. Breda is a lovely and welcoming host. The library room had a warm fire on, and was alovely place to spend some time in the evening and the following morning. Breakfast was great. Our bedroom was very spacious, with an unusual but very clean bathroom. The lack of TV in the bedroom was actually a bonus! Overall, a very enjoyable stay, and we will return.

This is my fourth visit to this wonderful country house and thoroughly enjoyed it as always. Our host was gracious and welcoming as always.
Long leisurely river walks . Beautiful spotless charming bedroom with extremely comfortable bed . Lovely chats by the fire and delicious breakfast all made up a wonderful stay and we are already planning our next trip .
Thank you once again Bred for your generous hospitality. ☺️

Although this property is difficult to find as it's in the middle of nowhere, it is a true delight. If you like tranquility, this is a spot for you (you can actually HEAR the sound of silence). The grounds are spectacularly maintained, the house itself is beautiful, and the host is charming. My only regret is that we didn't get to stay longer.

The lady renting the apartment next door was so incredibly sweet, but after multiple emails waiting for the owner to unlock the building, we received no communication for 6 hours and couldn't check in. We had to drive 30 min to the city centre to find other accommodations night of. The grounds were gorgeous, but the owner was a no show.
