My stay at Abbey House was a last-minute surprised and had to be changed once. Helen was wonderful about it all and provided true hospitality. Not only is Abbey House a beautifully renovated historic house, but it's in a peaceful setting between Jerpoint Abbey and a wooded stream by the also historic towns of Thomastown. And unlike a lot of places since covid, Helen offers a lovely breakfast. My only (very small) cautions are that a)if Kilkenny town itself is your focus, Abbey House is a few miles south and b)Helen only takes cash. But that only takes a bit of preplanning. If you're anywhere near Jerpoint, don't pass up this treat.

We enjoyed our stay at Abbey House very much, and Helen was very kind and helpful. It's a short drive from town where there are several options to eat. Our room was comfortable and we had a great breakfast the next day. Because it's right by the river, we couldn't keep our window open at night or the bugs would've come in. But otherwise, we had a very nice stay. The Jerpoint Abbey ruins across the road are a MUST-SEE. Helen very kindly let us keep our car in her lot while we explored. I highly recommend a stay here and a tour of the abbey.

Stayed here while working at the Irish Open. Great location. Room was excellent, serviced first thing every morning. The room had a classic look but with modern facilities . Tea making facilities also provided and a selection of biscuits, a nice touch. Highly recommend.

I stayed Monday night and was late for breakfast by 10 mins and was refused a hot breakfast. The owner would not tell us directly and when we complained we were told to ‘get over it’. Extremely rude woman and in 30 years of travelling I have never experienced such a response.

This is just what you hope you will find when you book a guest house B&B. Elegant, roomy, relaxed. Great rooms, great breakfast, clean and warm friendly service and great value.
We just completed a 65 day tour of Ireland and central Europe and this is on par with anywhere we have stayed without the big price tag. The only shame is that the lady of the house doesn't serve dinner.
Thank you

We stayed here for one night. Our rooms were clean and the place had a warm cozy feel to it. Helen greeted us and was a pleasure to be with. Our breakfast in the morning was awesome. We then went across the street to the Jerpoint Abbey Ruins. It was an interesting way to start the day.

Room Tip: Google Maps took us to the wrong house up the street. Look for the Abbey House B&B.

This was one of our favorite B&Bs after 20 days in Ireland. Helen is a very welcoming host who is not the sort to scrimp. Only the best for her guests. Our beds were the comfiest yet. Yeah! The room was large with lovely:windows opening to the mill stream, the ancient historical mill building behind the house and fields beyond. A lovely table by the window with all you need for a nice "cuppa." Downstairs you can enjoy quiet time in an elegant living room or sunporch where you can peruse stacks of books or play a game...all there for your discovery. Breakfast lacked nothing. Lavish really and beautifully set out. The Jerpoint Abbey is just across the street...a must see..and the whole environment around Abbey House B&B has a rich historical texture. The temptation here is to relax and let time wash over you while you listen to the sounds of the birdsong and the stream. Gracious gentility abound. Very special place.

We loved our stay at Abbey House, a quiet B&B across the road from Jerpoint Abbey, one of the most elegant and evocative historic abbeys in Ireland. On the grounds of an old mill with mill race flowing in the back garden, this gracious house has been thoughtfully updated and is comfortable and welcoming. The guests' sitting room was especially nice. The breakfast were excellent with lots of choices. Helen, the host is friendly, warm, and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed talking to her and would go back just to do more of that! There is so much to see in this area: Jerpoint Abbey; Nicholas Mosse Pottery; Jerpoint Glass Studio; the lovely villages of Thomastown, Inistioge,Graiguenamanagh, and more; Woodstock Gardens; Kilkenny with its castle, cathedral, abbeys, medieval houses and alleys. And that's just for starters! Abbey House was the perfect central location for visiting all of these places. We will be back!

I could tell you that this is a lovely B and B in a highly unique location, offering excellent accommodations and offering a delicious full breakfast. All of this is true, but it simply isn't enough.
Helen, the owner and operator of this beautiful home welcomes guests in the most gracious kind manner and goes further than required just because she is a beautiful person. We had booked several weeks in advance and were quite excited about our stay.
However, only a few short miles from our destination we had a car accident, no one was hurt, but the vehicle was towed away. Helen offered to pick us up, she drove us to dinner and the wonderful people at the Mt. Juliet Golf Course restaurant took very good care of us and drove us back to Abbey House.
We were met with nothing but kindness and care. I cannot say enough about Abbey House, Helen and her lovely home.
Golfers, book here, vacationers book here and Dubliners, here is your weekend location.
Sending love and thank you to Helen and her Scottie Snow.
Our trip was special because of you.
Colatruglio's thank you!

The Abbey House is lovely! Helen is a wonderful hostess. There is an old mill on the property, and the famous Jerpoint Abbey is literally right across the street. We left Dublin at around noon, stopped in Glendalough, and then arrived here in the early evening. We ate Easter dinner at nearby Mount Juliet golf club. The next morning we toured the Jerpoint Abbey, and then headed off to Kilkenny Castle and the Rock of Cashel. Great location!
