So, I’m going to to say this first of all. Carrickmourne house is not ultra modern. Don’t come here if you’re wanting a large tv in the room, a rain attachment power shower or bland white decor. This is not the place for you. However if you want to stay in a lovely homely home, run by some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, in a peaceful location with stunning views, then this is the place for you. The breakfast was superb. Hearty but not too much. Fresh tasty produce. Plenty (lots) of toast, bread, cereal & fruit. A lovely pot of tea with a view over to Thomastown. Comfortable & very clean rooms that are a great size. Tea, coffee & water facilities in the room. Really great living room. Ample parking. Beautiful gardens. We had two great nights sleep & I have no hesitation in recommending Carrickmourne House. Hospitality at its best. …
I stayed in several B&Bs during my trip to Ireland, and this was definitely the most elegant! It's a beautiful home and Julie was amazing...so charming and helpful. Her breakfast was fantastic. The B&B is very quiet and peaceful, and just a short drive into the charming town. Julie recommended an Indian restaurant in town that was superb. I highly recommend this lovely B&B!
Absolutely loved our stay here, Julie Doyle made us feel right at home. Our room was small but it didn't matter, there is large living room with comfy chairs that the guests are allowed to use. We were the only ones staying at Carrickmourne House so it was nice and peaceful. From our room at the front of the property we had a wonderful view of the mountain side, it was absolutely delightful. We would definitely stay here again.
Loved our night stay with Julie at Carrickmourne house. Just off the beaten path a little but beautiful scenery and nice and peaceful and quiet. Julie is a wonderful host with a great personality and very warm personality. Wish we could have stayed another night. Very good breakfast and drinks in morning. Highly recommend!!
Stayed at Carrickmourne House for 2 nights. Julie, the owner, makes the place. She is very friendly, helpful and full of information about the area. You'll feel like you're staying in a friend's home. May not be a good choice for anyone who is just getting used to driving on the left, signage on Irish roads and maneuvering on narrow, back roads--particular concerns when you drive into the nearby town for dinner in the evening. One nit: due to locations of electrical sockets and mirrors in our room, it was difficult to dry and style my hair. Thank goodness there's a mirror app for iPhones!
It's a little off the beaten path, but it's such a wonderful place; it's worth the visit. Julie the owner is so nice and so helpful. Her breakfasts are great. And the room my friend and I shared was perfect. The grounds are gorgeous with all the flowers and grass and that was the view from our room. And on top of all that, the price was right. We had absolutely no complaints and wish the hotels we stayed in could measure up. It's a perfect spot to get to the Jerpoint Abbey and then into Thomastown and into Kilkenny. Be sure to eat your dinner before you get there, though Julie is not opposed to you bringing food in and eating in the breakfast room. Don't go to the nearby golf club, food is not good at all; didn't get to try any place in Thomastown, though.
A place to feel like home! It's awesome and the host was so lovely! The bedroom and bathroom were perfect and clean and the breakfast was great! The place is very quiet and rounded by nature! We really recommend Carrickmourne House!

Went above & beyond for us got to stay 2 nights but would loved to have stayed longer, we hope to return :)
This was my first stop in Ireland. I stayed two days. I loved it. Welcoming! Very clean and pretty. Room was just the right size. A perfect distance from Kilkinney. Beautiful grounds. Lovely welcome. Room had tea and coffee set up. Breakfast was delicious. Fresh fruit, tea, coffee plus home cooked breakfast of your choice. Proprietor was extremely nice and helpful. Would certainly stay there again! Very helpful in directing you to points of interest in the area. TV (although not necessary). Very peaceful.
