One night pleasant stay.
Check in was only ok. Received a room, next to the lift and the room was small made up with a double bed, instead of 2 singles. My friend went immediately back to reception. We received a different room. Pillows and beds were very comfortable. Room was fine but nothing special. We made tea with one sachet of breakfast tea between us in tiny little cups provided.
Facilities were: swimming pool, gym, golf course, horse riding, free bikes for around the grounds. Greeted by a lovely girl called Ann Marie, we had a beautiful table overlooking the golf course. Our waitress Jasmine was equally friendly and had a very good manner and way about her. She will go a long way in her career in hotel Management.
There was a good choice for dinner and the food was presented beautifully. They had a large group of 50 or more which put pressure on the kitchen but when we did get our food, rather late it was very tasty. Wine was white and red St.Emillion. My friend had the Caleriac starter and the lamb. I had the crab starter, taste was not the best but presented well. We both shared the lamb, accompanied by fresh green veg, brocoli with nuts/cheese, mashed potato with lamp underneath, like a mini sheppherds pie, delicious. The lamp chops were delicious and all the extras on the plate added to the overall flavour. The meal was expensive but quality was good. The staff couldn't do enough, they knew 🙄 the food was delayed but handled it all very well. We didn't mind as the setting overlooking the golf course and were chatting and catching up. A big thank you to Paul in the bar after for giving us a laugh afterwards. Only real criticism is breakfast could be better for the overall price and experience.
What's missing here is a drawing room or sitting room in addition to the bar and restaurant. You can venture to the Manor but its a ten minute walk and it was raining.
Overall, nice stay. 2 nights would be better with a breakfast served.

Myself and my wife stayed in the Hunters Yard for 2 nights with family members, seven in total. We have been regular visitors for over 30 years and will always go back.
So first, all the good things we experienced. Check in was good, the room overlooking the garden was excellent, clean and comfortable. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant.

We had dinner in the Hunters Yard on both evenings and it was excellent, creative menu and great service. Chef Michael was very engaging with our small granddaughter who was curious about the kitchen. Nice to see ongoing improvements, as they have now opened up the kitchen and all is visible to the guests.

After dinner there was entertainment in the Presidents Bar and the staff were great.

The location is magnificent and we booked the grandchildren in for horse riding lessons, thanks to Aileen and all the staff in the riding school, it is a great experience for kids.

The disappointment was breakfast. They have recently changed to a buffet service, and on the first morning we went to the buffet located at the opining to the kitchen, plates were on a table at the buffet but there was no plate warming, the food was stone cold and I asked for fried eggs and was told that eggs had to be ordered from our table. I have no idea how that is meant to work.

On the second day, we ordered eggs at the table before going to the buffet, and were told the system had changed and we could now order at the kitchen counter. We ordered eggs which arrived on a hot small side plate, we now had to transfer them to a cold large plate and return to the table. At this time the tea and toast was stone cold and once again the breakfast was cold, we returned the lot and left. The logistical disaster was the talk of the dining room with lots of people complaining. Even the staff were complaining and suggested we advise management of our experience.

At check out we told the staff and objected to paying for breakfasts that we returned. The staff insisted it was a B&B rate and did not want to refund us. Eventually, they discounted breakfast for 2 people but would not do it for 7 people. We asked to see the GM, the staff said they would discuss it with him and phone us later. And yes, you have guessed it correctly, no call.

So this was definitely not a 5* experience, and perhaps a return to the table service may be on the cards. I'm sure Mark Dunne and the team will figure it out.

Best regards.

We booked a 2 night stay for 3 adults in September. The grounds in Mt. Juliet are really well kept except for arriving after dark there were no lights on around the grounds we had to use light from phones to get from car park to Hunters Yard.
Our room was a good size with very comfy beds, not sure if room had a deep cleaning after previous guests, some cobwebs on wardrobes, grubby balcony doors with dead flies on windows. We had booked our room for 3 adults but the room was set up for 2 people, 2 cups, glasses and bathrobes. Bathrobes were needed if you were using the pool as changing rooms were not available, water left in kettle after previous guests and finally the fridge did not work. Breakfast was usual Hotel fare, very slow service, hot breakfast served on cold plates, tea/coffee pots could do with a good clean and polish. I was concerned that as Staff cleared used dishes from tables they gave a quick wipe to tables and did not clean salt/pepper mill that was left on table for next guests. Staff did not sanatize their hands before resetting tables with clean crockery/cutlery, seating around tables was not cleaned. Staff are young maybe need a little bit more training. Overall disappointed with our stay, when you book 5 star you expect perfection .

Exceptional service from the staff here who are so hard working & customer focused at all times… Managers were also extremely helpful & friendly
Highlights were the beautiful grounds, Sean’s storytelling in the Manor House. Breakfast was excellent (please have some seeds also!). The spa area was small but lovely. The turn down services with chocs was great!
Excellent facial from Shannon!
Some suggestions … it would have been good to hear about the activities and events at check in. We were offered mulled wine (nice touch) but nothing for our 2 older children (mulled apple?)
The eating options are too limited when the hotel is busy. Please consider a casual bar option all day long to meet the demand.
The Clubhouse was not a great experience, poor service, poor food and very bright lighting - no atmosphere!
The family rooms in Hunters Yard have 2 double beds but really for 2 adults a bigger bed is needed.
Overall a very enjoyable time in Mount Juliet and we can’t wait to return in the summer

So we have been staying in Mount Juliet for 29 years and it is a favourite of our. Generally the staff are great the food is very good and the setting is spectacular.
On this occasion there definitely challenges in the service area.

Mary on the checkin was very helpful and our room on the 2nd floor with a garden view was lovely. We were accompanied by our daughter, don in law and their 2 children and also our son.

We were advised that we could have lunch in the clubhouse, however we were made feel most unwelcome and the service was really poor. We had booke dteh same clubhouse for diner that evening and it really was dreadful. We sat at the table for 35 minutes before anyone took an order for drinks. Eventually they took our dinner order, there was no vegetarian menu. The food arrived eventually however the table had not been set and we had to ask for cutlery, water etc. Everything was hard work.

Breakfast in the Hunters Yard was equally frustrating. We ordered tea and coffee which arrived at the table, however we wer etodl there was no milk as it was all sour. They were trying to get some from the main house. This was 9am, and the rest of our party had breakfast had breakfast at 8am and were told the same thing. The food was excellent.

However, the Covid guidelines left a lot to be desired. We saw one staff clearing a table and wiping it down with the dirty used napkins, they also wiped chairs down with the saem napkins. Some staff cleaned down tables others just reset them.

2 of us booked a golf lesson with one of the pros Brian Doheny and it was fantastic, most enjoyable he has a lovely relaxed style and will definitely go back to him, Also, I have to compliment a wonderful woman in the Equestrian Centre who took 2 young terrified children and had them comfortably trotting around the arena in no time, they are still talking about it. Many thanks, apologies I cant remember your name.

We will always go back but there is work to be done.

Also, at no time were we asked for Covid Certs.

A family break (adults, no children), our first time staying after many day trips for lunch and the odd golf round. The new hotel is lovely. What I remember is the peace and quiet, both inside and outside wandering around the vast estate. There's a lovely slow pace to things, whether eating in The Hound restaurant or the more casual Clubhouse. Both have lovely menus - the trout and smoked salmon in the Hound were yummy one night and the burger and curry in the Clubhouse hit the spot too. The staff are friendly and the hotel is so well setup for Covid-19: a temperature check machine at reception, with sanitizer stations all over the place and masks on everyone. The pool is also nice and relaxing. The estate is wonderful to explore, whether on foot, running or cycling. While you might say it's pricey, there are good deals available and it's worth it for treating yourself and your loved ones.

Hugely disappointed with the meal we had tonight. We were looking forward to a warm, cosy family meal but experienced very mediocre food that was very over priced. The management and in particular Executive Chef Ken Harker really need to review the offering. We’ve eaten in many beautiful restaurants throughout Ireland who pride themselves on delivering great produce, service and an overall great experience, the Hound, I’m sad to say is very sub par. For example my wife ordered gnocchi at €28 per potion and what was put in front of her could only be described as a bland flat photo cake. My fathers cod was cold and my sirloin steak was fatty and overcooked. This said the staff were nice and when we complained understood. My gripe is with the management and the kitchen who really need to think about charging 4 star prices for 2 star food.

The food was so disappointing. We live close to mount juliet and we've been here loads of times but thus was the first time since after the lockdown.

Food
We got 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches. And 2 kids meals.

The coffees were from a machine like you'd have in a petrol station. You'd at least expect a barista coffee when paying Eur 4 per cup.nnormallya cappuccino had milk mixed through it, not some foam sitting on black coffee.

My son's burger had to be sent back because ir was so badly overcooked. It was actually black burnt!!. I couldn't believe it.

Portion sizes was very small
I asked for a few chips on the side with my sandwich.. I did get a few chips, half a small bowl and they charged me EUR 4.50 just for that.??

Mount juliet, yout seriously need to review tou food standards in the Hunters Yard restaurant. And provide a proper barista coffee.

Charging Eur 60 for that very poor quality food ia bad business. I won't be back for a long time after that.

The serving staff were nice but whoever is managing the kitchen needs to wake up.

We availed of the Overnight Escape package at Hunters Lodge whilst on the Irish Thoroughbred Stallion Trail.
The package was excellent value with breakfast ,dinner at The Hound and welcome drink and valet parking included.
We didn't have time to use the Health Club but took a walk in the beautiful estate instead.
The only problem was that one night is not enough at Mount Juliet and we are planning to return for a longer stay in the Spring !

We stayed 2 nights at considerable expense. The young staff are very nice people but seem to have no training and certainly not to a 5 star standard. We have visited MJ a few times but think that's our last. Breakfast was totally unacceptable. A que down the corridor at 9.45am despite having booked it meaning a 20 min plus wait. A teenager at the top serving the hot food on his own and filling up each plate at an impossibly slow pace. It should be manned by a chef with experience to keep it moving along as the young chap was clearly not the right man for the job. We paid for room service the next day as we couldn't face it again. Every guest looked unimpressed in the breakfast room! Staff in the clubhouse again seem to be unsupervised and poorly trained with a 3 star service provided. This would all be one thing if you were not paying a lot of hard earned money to stay. Seems to be in line with previous reviews recently. Family room was very nice but small. Facilities around the hotel very nice.Grounds are amazing. Overall staff who are not trained or managed properly let it down.
