The Fastnet Hotel is Irelands hidden gem. We travelled as a group of friends celebrating a special birthday. The moment we walked through the door, we were immersed in the most beautiful aromas, ambiance, furnishings and breath taking views. Hélène is the most relaxed natural host, and her culinary skills are out of this world. From our long relaxing dinner over looking Long Island featuring fresh crab, lobster, scallops, delicate deserts and cheeseboard, we were simply spoilt. Brunch, again was a few courses. Fresh fruit, homemade granola and juices, we thought we had plenty but Hélenè was cooking up a feast in the kitchen. Fritata, scrambled eggs with sundried tomatoes, Augergine a la Parmesane, smoked salmon, along with a selection of cakes/ pastries all made by Hélène. All 3 bedrooms were equally as beautiful as each other, and we all agreed we couldn't pick a favourite. The views, the comfort, the fabrics were all simply beautiful. It really is the most special place. 💛 I cant wait to come back again. Thank you Hélène for the most wondeful weekend x

My friend and I were in a spot of trouble at dusk on a recent November evening, when we had to find accommodation at short notice. Word of mouth alerted us to a ‘BnB’ out the road from where we had been staying in Schull. We drove to the Fastnet Hotel and were greeted by our hosts, Hélène and Edward. Hearing our plight, despite short notice, they kindly agreed to accommodate us overnight and provide breakfast the following morning. We had no idea what was in store!
On check-in, we were shown to ‘The Studio’ which was furnished with an ensuite steam room, a most comfortable bed, and a view of the Fastnet Lighthouse beacon winking through the night.
We awoke to a superb view of Coney and Long Islands, robed in their richly colourful wintry finery with Fastnet in the distance.
Breakfast went beyond being Instagrammable! Hélène is a magnificent cook and both her training with chefs including Raymond Blanc and her Provençal roots are evident in the eating. Not just a feast for the eyes - every bite was an explosion of flavour. There were many bites…. So many dishes - both sweet and savoury, Irish and French, with the kale salad and poached pears particular favourites.
We thoroughly enjoyed our world class breakfast (although ‘breakfast’ comes not even close to describing this feast), divine hosts who radiated happiness and contentment, and exquisite accommodation with divine seascapes from every window. We could not recommend The Fastnet Hotel highly enough.
Go forth and enjoy… we certainly did!

I returned with my best friend to stay with Hélène at The Fastnet Hotel for two nights. Having fallen in love with this beautiful boutique hotel in September 2021 when we stayed in the Studio which is separate from the main hotel we decided we wanted to experience The Garden Room with the beautiful view of Long Island and The Fastnet Lighthouse and we weren’t disappointed. The room is sumptuous from the bed and bed linen to the beautiful drapes, soft lighting, spa like bathroom with organic lavender bath products that leave you feeling so relaxed all day. I’ve left the best til last - the food, oh my you will not be disappointed, Hélène if you haven’t guessed is French - need I say more? She spends hours preparing your meal whether it is breakfast, coffee and cakes or an eight course tasting dinner menu. Everything is organic, she sources fish and meat from organic award winning producers, she grows herbs, tomatoes, vegetables and fruit. Everything is fresh and made with love. My memory from this trip was coming upstairs for dinner to be met with the warmest greetings from Hélène and Edward her charming husband with a glass of champagne and ushered to the most elegantly set table to enjoy the most delicious asparagus gazpacho with goat cheese and truffle oil, to be followed by fresh scallops on a bed of mashed potato with a delicious sauce and dessert was Îles Flottantes, The wine is from their own wine cellar and the Irish Coffees are a perfect finishing touch. This hidden gem on the edge of the beautiful town of Schull is an experience you will never forget, you leave as a friend and that sums up the hosts of this wonderful Hotel.

Chère Hélène, Edward et Lybia, nous voulons vous remercier pour votre accueil très chaleureux et un séjour magnifique, nous espérons revenir bientôt.
I happened to meet Edward & Hélène in Gougane Barra last year, we got chatting and Edward mentioned their hotel, I followed on instagram, and promised myself that one day I would visit, it looked so wonderful and I wasn’t disappointed!
My friend and I spent 2 nights in their studio apartment and I can only echo all the previous excellent reviews — The Fastnet Hotel is surely the jewel in crown of Schull. From the champagne reception, the high-end, luxurious and most comfortable accommodation set in mesmerising scenery, to the sumptuous brunch… we had the best time.
Hélène, Edward and Lybia were excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very welcome in their beautiful home. Brunch was plentiful, fresh, organic, delicious, leisurely and their gorgeous beagle, Lily, was such a lovely dog. The homemade pain au raisin… nothing can compare, they were the best I ever had! I ate them before I thought of a photograph!!
I highly recommend a stay here, especially if you want to switch off in comfort — I could enjoy the view all day.
Thank you so much for such an excellent experience — I will be back!!

From the moment we arrived at The Fastnet1 we knew we had discovered a hidden gem. Wonderful hosts, convivial conversation and the food was a gastronomic delight. The studio that we stayed in could not have been more comfortable. The bathroom had a steam shower with aromatherapy oils aplenty. All our food was organic beautifullly prepared by Hélène, a superb chef. The attention to detail was amazing. Breakfast was relaxed with a wide array of options. Smoked salmon, scallops , scrambled eggs with cheese and padron peppers and various other options. They all taste delicious and look divine. My pictures tell their own tale.

This is a hidden gem, exuding comfort and relaxation, and hosted with great warmth and welcome by Hélène. Even though misty, the expanse of water, dotted with islands, was inspiring. But when the sun came out, the view was simply mesmerising. The studio was extremely comfortable, very well supplied with all essentials, including mosquito spray! Breakfast was superb. A banquet of fresh produce, tarts, pastries, scallops... bountiful! And no rush. Dawdling through one course after another, and gazing out on the blue water, time really stood still. If 5 stars are good, we'd give Fastnet Hotel 10 stars!

Fastnet Hotel is a hidden gem in West Cork. The experience is joyous from when you arrive until the time you leave. Every little detail has been considered ensuring that your stay is more than memorable - Hèlene the hostess is impeccable with her exceptionally warm welcome and kindness. But her cooking is something very special - the variety, the tastes to the palate and the use of natural ingredients. Breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever experienced. We stayed in the studio and this is such a beautiful place - so nicely decorated and with everything. Finally the view - Mon dieu it uninterrupted beauty of Channel, Long Island and the Fastnet.
Merci Hèlene!
We will be back!

We had the pleasure of a short stay at this amazing home… and it is a home, and an incredible delight to share it with its wonderful owners Edward and Helene. We were accorded the magnificent studio in the garden for our stay. Every detail was provided for; the bed was really comfortable, and the view over Coney and Goat Islands is idyllic. It is the fine, and personal touches like the tea and Helene’s French patteserie on arrival and the tour of the art collection with Edward that make this so special . Breakfast, alias “BRUNCH” is a leisurely and opulent experience… an indescribable variety of fish, scallops, fruit, breads, more pastries and all served with a welcoming generosity and excellence that deserves every award they have already achieved. Thank you so much for a beautiful short break .

We visited this wonderful little hotel in July for three nights and had a very special experience. The location is just amazing, a hidden gem, with breathtaking views over the numerous islands as well as direct sight of the famous Fastnet rock and lighthouse from our dining area and bedroom. Our hosts Helen and Edward were so warm and hospitable and couldn't do enough to make our stay more memorable, they really love entertaining guests in their gorgeous home, with its eclectic mix of French and Irish style and of course the wonderful art collection. The breakfasts were just incredible, world class, and Helene loved surprising each morning with the latest of her culinary delights, all organic and sourced from artisan suppliers, special pressed juices, special home baked, breads, pastries and cakes, vegetable and cheese delights, and more. The special evening picnic tray, with cheeses, quiche, wonderful wine and dessert treat, was so appreciated the evening we were too 'explored out' to search out a restaurant. All in all, this was a fabulous location for a special break and we will absolutely be back. Thank you Helene and Edward for looking after us so well.
