Thoroughly enjoyed our two day stay in the hotel. From the moment I picked up the phone the reception stay were extremely friendly and a pleasure to deal with. Once I announced that I was considering proposing Maeve in reception sprung to life with genuine enthusiasm, and told me that Trevor was the person to talk to (she was very much right). Trevor was amazing, he was happy to accommodate all of my requests and made the trip extremely special, going above and beyond to organised a beautiful picnic for us. The fine dining restaurant in our opinion was very good, the food was delicious and to a very high standard.

We had 2 nights stay in the wonderful castle. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel special. Thank you to Gerald for greeting us with a warm smile, showing us around, and giving us the ideas for what we can see outside of the hotel . 5 ⭐️ to all the staff! The Spa Facial Treatment was very relaxing and really worth the money!! The food was wonderful

The staff was extremely friendly, polite and welcoming! I have never been to a hotel, where being polite came so naturally from every staff member! This really made my stay memorable. The food was delicious! The scenery was beautiful and it was a relief to walk in such a quiet and peaceful environment. My room was spacious, with great lighting and the most comfortable bed. We had two great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience. Castlemartyr Resort definitely deserves its 4 stars, with its beautiful original interior detailing, great staff and even better services!

Don't get caught booking a lodge here thru Trident Holiday Homes. You will have zero access to the hotel facilities, pool, spa, restaurant etc. Absolute joke at the price paid for a week. So much for a staycation !

We stayed here twice in the last 2 months and it is definitely not deserving of the 5 star rating. The service is appauling, there is no outdoor dining after 5pm even though we are in a pandemic. The dining options are very limited - a “fine dining” pricey restaurant where the food was tasteless and totally underwhelming. But they are not afraid to charge 5 star prices! There was poor service in the restaurant and it felt like the staff had no idea what they were expected to do. After the disappointing meal, I spoke to one of the “Managers” about it, and that conversation certainly did nothing to make me feel any better. The only other option after 5pm was the grill which could only be described as very sub standard and felt like a 2star diner! The food here was atrocious. The hotel also boasts of outdoor dining at the golf club but it turns out they only serve food on the weekends. So we had to dine outside the resort which is not what you would expect in a 5 star establishment. I’m not sure what has happened to the resort but it needs a bit of an overhaul to get it back to a 5star resort. I stayed here in 2020 after the first lockdown and it was a totally different experience otherwise I wouldn’t have returned. It’s very telling when you check out and no one asks you if you enjoyed your stay, they are probably afraid to hear the answer!!
