Detailed Reviews
Have been going here for years and it has to be the most unfriendly bar we have ever visited! The only 2 thing it has going for it are the beautiful view and old style bar! The staff are so unfriendly and the fact that its family run makes it worse! We love Baltimore but wouldn't want to be looking for a friendly face in here

We stopped in here for lunch while driving about West Cork on a quiet Wednesday! We both had smoked mackerel sandwiches and the apple tart for dessert, couldn't fault it, filling and tasty and service with a smile, exactly what we wanted

My husband and I recently stayed in Baltimore, all we wanted was accommodation which was central, budget friendly and clean. Bushes has 3 rooms, 2 at the back for €60 per room per night and 1 at the front for €70. It doesn't include breakfast but they have a small fridge in the room which has, some milk, orange juice cartons, chocolate and they provide some white/brown bread. There is a shop literally a minute away for you to purchase any extras you would like. The rooms are basic, we rented the front room it was lovely and clean bit noisy at night due to the bar downstairs but this didn't bother us. the only complaint I would have is the tv needs to be bigger, I don't wear glasses and I found it very hard to watch the tv from the bed due to the tv being so small and the bed needs to be updated but otherwise I would definitely be going back here again in a flash.

The bartender, which seemed to be the owner of the place (as I saw him cleaning the front beer garden The next morning ) was extremely unfriendly and it is just the beginning of the season. I said a few words to him, making light conversation and he just pretty much ignored us. He seemed chatty with the locals on the other side of the bar, but just could not be bothered making any conversation with us at all, so, we walked out, and we went around the corner to the Algiers and had a beautiful meal and some local beer. I am not one for leaving bad reviews, this is the first, but this guy left a sour taste when you you are looking for the good old Irish hospitality.

We traveled to Baltimore for new years eve and as most of us were traditional musicians we decided to have a session in Bushes. We played all day and the patrons of the pub were really enjoying the music and singing. However, the owners were rude and unfriendly and complained that we were taking up space that could be occupied by paying customers. We paid for our drink all day and spent a lot of money in the bar. The real issue it seems was that they had a dislike for Dublin people and had no time for traditional Irish music. Truly the most negative experience I have had in a bar anywhere in the world. I or anyone else who was there will not travel back to Bushes or Baltimore anytime soon.

we just had lunch here today while travelling around west cork. big mistake. veg soup tasted like it was out of a packet. chowder had 2 pieces of fish no mussels no prawns. crab sandwich was watery and tasteless...i went to the bar and ordered a glass of wine, the extremely rude young bar man snapped my money off the bar and practically threw the change back on the counter top at me, i said thank you very much,he ignored me and walked away!!! but the waitress was lovely, chatted to my little boy when she served him his food. i would hope she would teach her work mate a little common courtacy and manners.. as regular visitors to west cork we will be giving this pub a miss next time we are here.

Stayed overhead Bushes Bar while on a weekend 'trip with the guys' and really enjoyed the service and accommodation. Staff downstairs and room cleaners upstairs terrific. Although it was 'Room Only', without Breakfast, there was homemade Brown Bread, Orange Juice, Brew Coffee and Fruit in the Bedroom. Would definitely stay there again, even with late night revellers out front, no problem sleeping! Finally, they say that property is all about Location, Location....well Bushes Bar is THE place to stay in Baltimore, for view, food, entertainment, music and pure craic.

What a wonderful little place! Clean and simple, three rooms above a popular pub with the front room overlooking the beautiful bay. Double and single in the room, big, big area with sitting chairs and fridge, toaster, electric kettle. The owner leaves brown soda bread, a huge fruit basket, jams, chocolates, fruit juice and mineral water, along with the usual coffee makings. You can stock up from the small store with cheese and wine and make it a cheap stay. Front room can be noisy but you will be downstairs with the bar crowd until closing anyway! Cheap and cheerful, highly recommended.

First off lovely people and if there was an extra star I would give it. Great cosy and 'real ireland pub' atmosphere. A special mention to be given to the fresh and tasty sandwiches. Something to really lift your spirits. I go back every time I'm in the area.

Unfriendly & indifferent. No eye contact. Sandwiches are good but somehow spoilt by the lack of atmosphere. Location is the main attraction - great views. Service leaves so much to be desired. Sadly, the younger staff don't have a whole lot to model their behaviours on as the senior staff set the bar.
