Without a doubt a special place to spend New Year away from the hustle and bustle of life. Our room was amazing with sea view a lovely bathroom, sofa and huge comfortable bed. Also had bed and breakfast here a good choice and plenty of food.
The pizza was also delicious. Will be back in the autumn.

Thank you Kate and Youen for a great 6 nights at your fantastic hotel. What a location. It doesn't get better than The Waterfront. Our three children loved it too. They are ages 7, 9 and 13 yrs old and all had only good things to say about the hotel.
A Lovely clean hotel with friendly kind and efficient staff. Gorgeous breakfast and a harbour view superior to any other. Thank you Kate, Youen, Nikki, Helen and all the staff.
Jacqueline and Gavin King and children. DUBLIN.

I booked a weekend in Baltimore as a birthday present for my fiancée. We booked into The Waterfront Hotel for two nights on 5th August 2011, Superior Suite, Room 14. On the first night of our stay we ate in the bar downstairs and had few drinks, and went to bed about 1 a.m. There was some noise during the night because Room 14 is located near the elevator which was to be expected. The following evening (Saturday) after a long day whale watching, we booked into the restaurant upstairs for a meal. We had a lovely dinner and went downstairs for a drink following our meal. By 11 p.m. we were shattered and headed up to bed. We were in bed at 11.30 p.m. when the loud banging music came from the bar and was clearly audible in our room. Initially we couldn’t understand where the music was coming from because there was no band in the bar.
We thought it may be emanating from one of the rooms beneath us, so I put on my clothes and went to investigate. I was amazed to find the music was actually coming from the bar where a DJ was providing dance music for no more than five people. I told the barman our bedroom was hopping to the thud thud music and enquired as to what time the music would stop. I was told 1.30 a.m. (2 hrs later!). The barman asked the DJ to turn down the music, he obliged for no more than two seconds and then as if to make a clear point turned it back up even louder, which appeared to be an act of petty point scoring. I was extremely frustrated by this when I returned to my room I rang down to the bar but there was no answer. We are a young couple and enjoy late nights however this particular night we were exhausted and just wanted our sleep after a long day and a 3.5 hr journey home the next morning. We lay in bed for over 2 hrs waiting for the music to stop. It stopped at 1.45 a.m. We complained the following morning to the hotel receptionist who replied there had been several complaints about the music; she offered €20 off the bill as a token apology. We will NEVER stay at The Waterfront again. What is the point in having a disco for 5 people when there are paying customers trying to sleep? The weekend was a birthday present to my fiancée and I was really disappointed because I spent quite an amount of money in the hotel on dinners and drinks. I would strongly advise NOT to stay here.

We stayed in the Waterfront this week for two nights. We have stayed there many times before and were always very satisfied. On one of the evenings of our stay we heard a dog barking , we assumed it was coming from outside the hotel. Eventually the barking became louder and more agitated. My partner went out to check where the dog was, it transpired he was in room 12, and totally on it's own. It was obvious that the dog was extremely distressed. My partner went to reception and advised them about the situation. In total it was about one hour before the owner of the dog came to let him out. I am stunned that dogs are allowed in the bedrooms of the hotel.
The hotel does not advertise this anywhere on the website, which I think is very devious and unfair to customers who book rooms. I for one do not want to stay in a hotel bedroom, where a dog may have slept the night before.
This service should be clearly advertised on their website. As for the owner of the dog, if they feel so strongly about their canine pet why would they leave them for an hour in such distress..... cruel and ridiculous.

This was one of my best service experiences ever:

I forgot my hat in the hotel bar. Next day, when I noticed it, I was already in Killarney and on my way to Ennis. So I called the hotel management. They offered me to send my hat to my next B&B in Ennis, which they did. They didn't even want that I reimburse the costs for postage & packaging, which I wanted of course.

I had a very nice stay. The hotel bar already convinced me with a very nice offering of delicate dishes and ales; I enjoyed the conversations with clever locals. And finally, this hat experience at Waterfront / Jacob's Bar turned it all into an extraordinary experience that I do not forget ever.

Thanks and see you next time.

Lets start with the negatives - there aren't any! This hotel is immaculate, the view of the harbour (from the front rooms) will make you want to sit in your room and just gaze out. The rooms are furnished to a higher standard than I had expected, each has a tv and a kettle (tea & coffee provided) and is en suite. For breakfast there is a huge choice, the menu shows what is on offer but you can have any combination you wish and nothing seems too much trouble (thanks Lisa). Before going into breakfast one morning we mentioned that we wished to go horse-riding, within 10 mins the receptionist came back to us with a list of bus times, the name and contact of the riding place etc -again service far beyond my/our expectations. The hotel has it's own bar and restaurants, the food is of a good standard but it is the staff who make the place what it is.
I understand that this review will seem rather 'gushing' but I can not recommend the hotel highly enough - I always check out reviews before I book accommodation and am honest in my opinions. For a clean, friendly, value for money hotel look no further.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Overall, I would stay there again, but I wasn’t totally satisfied either.

On the positive side, the superior room was great. It had a great view of the harbor. The room was huge. It had a king size bed, and they brought in a rollaway bed for our son, but even with the rollaway bed there was still plenty of room. Near the window was a nice seating area. There were plenty of plugs everywhere. The bathroom was very modern and elegant, and it was also huge.

The location was nice. We stayed at Baltimore for two nights and used it as a base to do a couple of things in the southwest corner of the country. We had originally planned to do a boat trip out to Fastnet lighthouse or one of the nearby islands, but due to high seas we opted to stay on land and went to Mizen Head instead. That was a reasonable and scenic day trip from Baltimore, although if Mizen Head is your primary destination, there are other towns much closer. However, if you intend to do a boat trip, with an option of doing a day trip to Mizen head, this location is great.

On the negative side, there was no WiFi in the room, and elsewhere in the hotel the internet was painfully slow and not very useful. Also, there is no air conditioning, and we had the misfortune of being there when it was hot. The room was uncomfortably warm, but after a significant amount of complaining and pushing, they came up with a fan for us to use in the room for the second night. That helped.

(As a side note, even though they eventually came up with a fan for us, I had to be very persistent and pushy to get them to do it. The staff member had an odd attitude. Rather than at least pretending to care about my dissatisfaction, she defiantly told me that they are just a 3 star hotel, as if I was wrong to expect satisfaction. I found that very odd, since hotel staff usually make at least some effort to make the customer happy, even at a 3 star hotel. However, I must point out that this was just one staff member, and everyone else was very nice. You should not let that discourage you from staying here. That kind of thing can happen anywhere.)

Early one morning I was sitting by the window enjoying the nice view, when I noticed a man in a small boat going around the harbor. He was holding a rope that went out to something in the water that appeared to be alive and following him. I couldn’t imagine what it was. Only the head was visible above the water, and the head was pretty big. It kind of looked like a horse, but what would a horse be doing out there swimming around in circles behind a boat. Eventually they came back to shore, and as it turned out, that’s exactly what it was. I asked someone about it later, and they said the horse trainers take the horses out swimming as a low-impact form of exercise. Fascinating.

Anyway, overall I do recommend this hotel as long as you don’t mind the lack of WiFi in the rooms. Baltimore is a lovely little town, and this seemed to be the best place to stay. I would stay there again.

I stayed one night at the Waterfront but really wish it could have been much more!!
Eventhough a single female traveller in the middle of November, I had such a great time, everyone made me feel welcome, thanks in particular to Jaouen Jr and the great welcome from both ladies at reception.
My room was so pretty, view was amazing and shower was great, and I felt very comfortable going down for drinks and dinner at Jacob's bar on a Sunday evening where great music was on.
Oysters and fish were gorgeous!
Everyone was helpful with what to do in the short time I had, even up to the breakfast lady in the morning, she helped me decide between a ferry to Cape Clear and Sherkin Island, and indeed Sherkin was a great decision and less cold in November!
I ll be back to visit Cape Clear and hop on Nic's boat finally to see the whales!
Merci à tous et KENAVO ;-)

Right on the harbour in tiny, lovely Baltimore, Ireland, this hotel (and its associated pub and restaurant) was an amazing discovery. The room was perfect, excellent style, wooden floors, great view of the harbour, superb taste and lighting. Fantastic value for money too!

We couldn't believe it when they told us they served breakfast until 12.30! And, they did! What an amazing spread and amazing cooked breakfast included in the price of the room (fantastic bargain!). Service was superb and very friendly. Great to sit outside looking at Sherkin Island on a sunny day enjoying that wonderful breakfast and a hot pot of wonderful Irish tea!

Dinner and drinks at Jacob's Bar (also part of the Waterfront) was also a great treat. They serve food until 11 (weekdays too!). The fresh oysters (from Sherkin Island) were superb, the mussels natural, fresh and extremely tasty and the calzone was tops! The Murphys flowed fresh and plentiful and the staff were as friendly as could be.

A sleeper of a place, we wished we had discovered it earlier during our holidays and had stayed three nights, instead of one. We'll be back. Highly recommended on all counts. .

Stayed here for two nights in August. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. I think certain faults will always be forgiven in Baltimore simply because when you arrive you are consumed with the essence of the village and it' is very hard not to relax and chill out. Baltimore is one of the most serene and beautiful spots that I have visited in many years and this is my first time staying here. The hotel is ideally situated in the village square with perfect views over the harbour. Our room was overlooking the harbour and the view was to die for, particularly late afternoon with the sun casting warm soft glows throughout the room. The room itself was small and cramped but we were made aware of this when booking and offered a small discount as a result of this. It was fine for the two of us and I loved the decor - a mixture of old and new world combined. However, I feel that attention to detail was lacking in the maintenance of our room with a door handle missing from the fridge cupboard leaving a screw sticking out about 1inch which could have caused a nasty accident. The room was also let down by a very messy paint job in the bathroom which looked like it might have been recently painted in a hurry with no attempt made to remove paint from fixtures and fittings. One word of warning - although our view was perfecttion, it was very noisy, particularly late at night when we were trying to sleep. The main gathering area is the village square where the hotel is located and most of the customers of the hotel bar and the bar next door tended to gather in the outside seating area directly underneath the bedrooms. The noise level was bearable with the windows closed but then it became stiffling hot in the bedroom. This was high season and the weather was very hot so I suspect this might not be such a huge problem at other times. Breakfast in the "Lookout Restaurant" was a dissapointment as we waited over half hour to be served hot food and drinks and the buffet part of fruit, cereal etc was almost totally empty and not being replenished as the waitress told us everything had run out. This was 30 minutes before last orders. There was one waitress trying to do everything and I think she could have done with some help. The quality of the hot food when it arrived was good and the bacon the best I've eaten. However, breakfast in the "Jolie Brise" was a different experience with fast and efficent service. Overall, the atmosphere here is casual and laid back and this carried through to the service, presentation and attention to detail. If, like me, you like this kind of atmosphere then you will feel right at home here but if you are looking for perfection then this might not be the place for you.
