This was a somewhat last minute booking for me. The owner of the B&B I had booked earlier had to cancel and I was left scrambling to find a place in Cobh in early November. I wrote Elmville and begged. Olive, the fabulous owner took pity on me and opened her doors for us even though she was closed for the season. The two rooms we reserved shared a bath and I was initially hesitant about that, however, it was no inconvenience at all. There are only two rental rooms on the floor, we were provided with comfy bathrobes and could come and go on the second floor as we wished. A nice arrangement for families especially. The house could not be nicer....built in the 1850's, beautifully maintained and appointed. It is a classic treasure in Cobh and the location is perfect for walking to the museum and town center. And now Olive! All I can say is thank you for opening your doors to our little group and making us feel so welcome. Thank you for the beautiful breakfast in your elegant dining room, the use of your lovely parlor with tea, coffee and treats each day, and the wonderful conversations. We truly felt as though we were staying with family on our holiday.…
Loved our recent stay. The pictures of this house do not do it justice and the owner is amazing, she is so helpful and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and the attention to detail is amazing. We had a beautiful room overlooking the harbour and I wished we were staying longer. Do beware that the rooms are not ensuite ( I had just presumed they were) Bathrobes are provided and strangely I didn't mind sharing the beautiful bathroom. There is a lovely sitting room where you can sit and have a tea or coffee (nespresso machine) . This B&B is a gem. You walk through the door and immediately feel at home. The location is also perfect as it's only a few minutes walk into the center of Cobh.
We stayed in room 1 which is a very grand room with a huge ensuite and lovely views of the harbour. It is a flat 10 minute walk along the waterfront to the delightful centre of Cobh. The host Olive does everything possible to make your stay a pleasure. There are beautiful gardens in this staely home with free secure parking. Breakfast is great, both hot and cold available.I think some of the other rooms have shared bathrooms so if you don't like to share check when you book.
We had a lovely warm welcome from our host and from then on we felt perfectly at home, even if it also felt like we were staying in a Stately Home! We had a beautiful room at the front overlooking the waterfront, and it's just a leisurely walk along that waterfront to the town. We'd love to come back. Thank you, Olive.
This has to be one of the best B&B’s I have stayed in. Our host Olive made sure that our visit was just amazing and because she knew it was my birthday, added a personal touch by greeting me with Prosecco. The room was magnificent with a wonderful view of Cobh harbour. It was super clean and spacious. Breakfast was greatly appreciated and really tasty. We will definitely be back and cannot praise Olive enough for her warmness and hospitality.
