We were a group of friends, walkers, singers, sportsmen and much more. A trip to visit and explore the Berea Peninsular. We picked Cottage Heights as our base. We had more than just a great location, we got Mary. She was fantastic and guided us through a wonderful week of adventure and lots of laughter.

It was one of the times of our lives for this mega-mature group of walkers. Cottage Heights was the perfect location, owned and managed by the incomparable Mary. We were given a true Beara Way welcome when we arrived on the 11th of September. Mary's smile brought a glint of light into a dismal West Cork afternoon. And from then until we left, we were looked after like close friends. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished and beautifully situated, overlooking the sea and Beara Island. As the weather warmed and the clouds vanished, we saw it in its glory. Enjoying a cold beer at night on the veranda, as the sun set. Breakfast was excellent. The full Irish breakfast set us up regally for the long mountain walks in the craggy mountains that make up the Beara peninsula. Mary looked after everything for us. The packed lunches for our mountain breaks, the washing and ironing of mountain thyme-stained shorts and tops. Advice and guidance were given willingly for pubs and restaurants. Mary's recommendations were always on the money. Our 6 nights ran in all too soon on this splendid West Cork peninsula. Castletownbere is a fishing village well worth a visit and Cottage Heights is the place to stay.

I stayed with Mary and Jim at the lovely cottage heights in Castletown for 9 nights. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The property had ample parking and a wonderful view over the bay. It is a short walk to the main town shop and pubs which wad perfect. The rooms and property were kept to a good standard. I will definitely be staying here next year.

My friend Kevin and I stayed with Mary for nine nights for our annual fishing pilgrimage to the Beara Peninsula. What is lovely about Cottage Heights and Mary the host is almost to much to write in a review. The rooms, location, parking and views are great. The quality of breakfast is superb and Mary’s kindness and attention to detail is faultless. I would recommend Cottage Heights to anybody and I hope to visit again. Thankyou Mary and Tim for looking after me. The breakfast omelettes were delicious. X

Anyone that says anything negative about this place seriously need to get their heads examined. You wouldn’t get this type of service in a five star hotel. Mary is an absolute lady. She looked after us like royalty. We were treated more than just guests, I felt I was in a family home. On Saturday night both myself and Rory were out having a few drinks with other family members, we left the car in the town, she drove us on Sunday morning to get our car. Where else would you get this??. Helpful advice when needed about places to go in the area. Rooms impeccably clean, the place was spotless, (cleaner than any hotel) food was just lovely and was stuffed after it, (which is a good thing). Seriously recommend to anyone visiting Castletownbere! I will be recommending it to other people and I know already where I’m staying the next time I visit castletownbere. Don’t believe any negative comments on tripadvisor.

Lovely B&B. Really comfortable beds. Fantastic breakfast. Great reception by our hosts. Lots of advice given on where to eat and the sights to see on the Beara peninsula. Fantastic view from most of the bedrooms and from the dining area. Just a 15 minute walk from the town or a really short drive.

Stayed here for the weekend and Mary was so helpful, giving recommendations for things to do and lots of local knowledge. The room was so comfy and I had a hot, tasty breakfast every morning. I even got a lift into the town when it was raining. They couldn't have done enough for me during my stay and I was clearly not the only one who experienced this while I was there. Would 100% recommend Cottage Heights for a stay in the Beara Peninsula.

Stayed here for one night with friends on a recent cycling trip around the Beara Peninsular. Mary, the landlady was very welcoming and helpful, recommanding places to eat and drink in the town, that was only a short walk. The rooms were comfortable and first rate, the breakfast excellent, catering for a vegetarian, and a coeliac in the group.Would definitely stay again if in the area.

The landlady, Mary, was so helpful. Gave me lots of information and history about the area. Drove me into a local restaurant in Castletownbere on the first night. She left a continental breakfast available for me due to my departure being outside of her scheduled serving times. I can't think of a thing that would have made the visit any more enjoyable and relaxing except for the weather but she wasn't that good.

My sister and I stayed at Cottage Heights for one night and it was brilliant. I contacted Mary in advance and she booked us in to a local restaurant for dinner. The town is only a ten minute walk. The accommodation is clean, the breakfast was great and all the staff were so friendly. The views from the property are fantastic and there is great parking also. We would definitely stay again.
