45 mins walk from town but no worry as Caroline will drop you off - taxi back 7 euro. Massive breakfast, too much to be fair - had to ask for small portions. I recommend this place as nothing was too much for the host.
Caroline said “We were delighted to have you in our home”. It really felt like that. Very best tradition of Irish B&B. Restaurants: Murphy’s in the Square. Great food. Excellent menu. 9/10 Ocean Wild. For the special meal. Superb. 10/10”
What initially led me to book with Caroline was that we didn't know if there would be 2 or 3 of us staying. Her family room was available so she booked us in there and let us pay the 2-person rate if 2 of us showed up or the 3-person rate if there were 3 of us. This was really helpful as with other B&Bs, we would have had to book 2 rooms and risked not using one of them. Caroline greeted us upon arrival and showed us around. She also gave us a comprehensive and interesting breakfast menu that evening so we could let her know in advance what we would like and at what time approximately we would like to eat. We accepted her kind offer to drive us into town as that allowed us to have a drink and take an inexpensive (€5-€6) taxi back out to the B&B. The room was attractive, spotless and very comfortable, and the fan was helpful (but not completely necessary) given that the weather was so warm. We slept well. The power of the shower was a very pleasant surprise the next morning. I've rarely had one so good. We wished we had figured out how to secure the blind on the skylight before going to bed. In the morning (after Caroline explained it to us), we realised how simple it was, but given the early, bright mornings, it would have been useful to learn that the night before (our fault completely, not Caroline's). The breakfast exceeded our expectations. Full selection of fruit, juice, cereals, warm homemade scones, croissants, nut and seed toppings, cold meats and cheese (European style) as well as cold fresh salmon... and this was before the wonderful cooked breakfast. I couldn't finish the very generous serving of scramble eggs and smoked salmon and my husband couldn't finish his generous portions of Eggs Benedict, despite how delicious they both were. We couldn't say enough good about Caroline and her wonderful B&B.... and having beautiful blue skies during our stay was the icing on the cake.…
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Room was beautiful, comfy, classy. Shower was fab. Breakfast was second to none, hand on heart, Better than many hotels charging triple the cost! I can’t wait to come back again! Only downside is that it’s a bit far out from town, but Caroline was so generous and dropped us in for a night on the town. Very reliable taxi company dropped us home (€5!!) Looking forward to return visit already!
We visited Emohruo B&B as part of a cycling holiday in September. The B&B is a little bit outside the town, but it's not a long walk and there are street lights most of the way (although if you are walking back from one of Castletown Bere's numerous bars at night I'd bring a torch). The area is really nice and staff are wonderful. The rooms were spotless and the B&B is very close to the Bere Island ferry. The breakfast is great (particularly the full Irish) but be warned, it's sizable.
