Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in several B&Bs during these holidays in Ireland and I have to say that the B&B Bru Na Pairc was the best.
A 5 minute drive from the centre, the rooms are very small and the bathroom tiny but with everything you need, including excellent quality bathrobes.
We will not forget the excellent and abundant breakfasts: yogurt and fresh fruit are always available at the buffet (plenty of blueberries and strawberries), orange juice, three types of fresh bread to toast and delicious muffins made by the lady.
Plus a wide choice of freshly cooked dishes: pan cakes, salmon and eggs, Irish breakfast and more.
The kindness and friendliness of the owner are a plus that make the stay in this structure an unforgettable experience.
Thank you!!

What a find! Peggie and her dog Twinkle made our stay special. Peggie is a very busy lady helping either young people or elderly neighbours to get out and about, but it doesn't stop her running a great B&B. Breakfast was lovely, the bacon was very tasty. Fresh fruit and yoghurt some days and as a special treat strawberries with the yoghurt. She even tried to tell us she'd picked them at 6.50 that morning! As she's telling us we could see the twinkle in her eyes!! The beds very comfy. I had the best night sleep the first night we were there. Bliss. Good range of breakfasts available and the tastiest of tea. Thank you Peggie and Twinkle

Peggy is a force of nature. And in the all-encompassing way of the Irish, her welcome leaves no stone unturned. Add to that: homemade scones, soda bread, elaborate breakfasts. Stays at Bru Na Pairc bookended the Sheep's Head walk organized by Hillwalk. The whole trip was a marvel.

The room and shower was smaller than the average stateroom on a cruise ship. No room for luggage. The Wi-Fi service was terrible and mostly non-existent. Shower was tiny. It was a long walk to the square in the center of Bantry. Over a mile, I think. Walking back from town is all uphill and there were no taxi's available at 10:00pm when we left our function at the Maritime Hotel. The walk home in the rain and dark was quite tedious. The value was terrible as it cost only about 20 euros less than the Maritime. The breakfast was delicious and the owner was very nice. I would not stay there again.

We stayed here on the Wild Atlantic run, its a bit further out of town that it stated on Booking.com, but what a little hidden gem.
The room was lovely and clean and Peggy met us with a great cream tea, the bed was really comfy and we slept well.
Breakfast was brilliant you all sit together on one big table which is great to meet fellow travellers.
Peggy is also a taxi driver so she ran us down into town to the Fish Kettle (a fantastic fish restaurant in Bantry) and picked us up later on, and then refused to take any monies off us.
This was the second best B&B out of 8 we stayed in on our tour.
Well done Peggy.

Five of us stayed here for two nights at the beginning and end of a week-long walk of the Sheep’s Head Way. The host was exceedingly generous, in a no-nonsense way - tea and cake waiting for us on both arrivals, advice on dinner, and, as a cab driver, a pickup on the last, rainy, day when we wanted to avoid a 5 mile road walk. Breakfast was great - get the special.

One of my B&Bs on the Sheeps Head Way hike. Nice room with enough comfort, a great selection for breakfast (from rich to very rich) and a very nice host, Peggy looks after the guest very well. Also easy to get there.
Bantry offers also a lot of dinner possibilities.

Prior to the Francis O'Neill Festival in Bantry, Co. Cork, (September 9-11, 2016), my wife and I booked a room for two at Bru Na Pairc. About two weeks before the festival, I called the Proprietor to let her know that my wife had to unexpectedly return to the States and I would be the only one staying there. She said that was no problem. I told her I would call her back again a few days before my arrival to confirm, which I did and she again said it was no problem that I would be the only one staying. I arrived there Saturday afternoon and checked in. The proprietor was away that weekend so there was another woman managing in her absence. I stayed there for two nights and everything was fine until I was checking out. The woman that was managing said to me "I hate to have to do this, but I spoke to the Proprietor and she told me that it made no difference that you are alone and since she could have gotten full price for the room that weekend that she is charging you full price, minus the breakfast for your wife."

I am very upset I feel that this woman pulled a fast one on me. The reason I called twice prior to arrival informing her that I would be alone... she never mentioned the price would remain the same for one or two. The reason I called was very obvious or I wouldn't have needed to let her know this at all. I would never stay there again or recommend it to anyone because this was pure dishonesty and unacceptable in my opinion.

Don’t go! I regret staying there and will never return. I have never before left accommodation I payed for and burst into tears because of how I was treated. Peggy May be “ under a lot of pressure” as she claimed and she did apologise for her “bedside manner” but it was clear to me that was just because she was worried about reviews. I have never left a negative review before but it’s not okay to abuse and humiliate people like she did. It began over breakfast when she cooked bacon in my meal and became angry that I don’t eat it (even though I’d told her beforehand) . Then it was alternating put-downs and attempts to placate me until I left ( 2 hours before I’d intended to go). She snapped at several other people while I was there. You don’t need this.
Stay somewhere friendly.

Well I will tell my side of the story I was annoyed with myself for not noticing that you didn’t want meat as you had put it in your reply to allergies. As for the rest I walked into my dining room to find my toaster on fire and you standing there flapping a piece of black bread that you had managed to take out of the toaster Yes I got a shock and said Jesus what are you doing I told you sit down I will sort it out When I had sorted it I asked you were you alright and asked you to open the window which you were sitting at and you replied very Amherst saying I not stupid I know how to open the windows Yes i apologize for getting excited when I see my toaster on fire and my dining room full of burnt toast smoke but believe me when I say it had nothing at all to do with reviews There’s a few people who do not like my home but that’s fine the beautiful reviews make up for them 10 fold I did apologize and it takes a good person to apologize when they do something wrong It takes a better person to accept it obviously you didn’t accept my apology so I guess there is the two stories and as they say somewhere in the middle of them is the truth Anyone who is bored enough to read all this bull ——- should get a hobby 😂😂😂 The kindest of regards Peggie 😊
