For our recent tour to Ireland, we stayed at Dromcloc House. I looked for accommodations where I could see the water. We arrived Dromcloc House from Cork Airport - a bit frazzled in adjusting to driving on the left and following the GPS. The GPS took us directly to Dromcloc House that is a bit off the main highway, and just over an hour from the airport, given our cautious driving. True to the pictures, Bantry Bay is right there and a beautiful sunset welcomed us. Dromcloc House was our home for 4 nights. Our room was clean and very adequate. Our days started with a delicious breakfast, cooked to order, served graciously. Our host gave us valuable tips for interesting places and roads to take, and avoid. This was the first time I stayed at a Farmhouse B&B and we learned about the farm and the house - being in the family for 5 generations, various furnishings and decor provided the feeling of a family home, which I found comforting. The exterior has pretty flower plantings and furniture for sitting outside. It’s an attractive and tranquil place. Dromcloc House is just outside of Bantry, a very pleasant town for walking around - more residential than touristy. When I was making plans for this West Cork/Beara tour, I hadn’t planned on touring the Sheepshead Peninsula, but at our host’s recommendation we did and I am so glad we did. In the evenings I enjoyed looking at the Bay and then relaxing in the sitting room, having a cup of tea (tea and coffee are always available to make), and watching a bit of television. The sitting room is quite large and would be a fun place to visit and play cards or games for a group traveling together. The window in the room also overlooked the Bay. Other locations we toured while staying at Dromcloc House include Gougane Barra, Garinish Island (outside Glengariff), most of the Beara Peninsula, Kenmare, Caha Pass, and Mizenhead (and Mizen Peninsula). My husband and I are grateful to the Crowley Family for their wonderful hospitality.…
My family stayed at Dromcloc house for a short break in west Cork. We felt very welcome and comfortable here and would definitely stay again if we’re back in the area. We also enjoyed taking a short walk down to the sea. Thank you for the lovely brekkie!!
Loved this bed and breakfast, only a few kms from Bantry on Sheephead peninsula, the view was beautiful, lovely old farmhouse, rooms very comfy and spotless, great breakfast and the owners were lovely and helpful
Charming farmhouse with a wonderful view of Bantry Bay. Close to hiking trails, close to restaurants and amenities in Bantry. Delicious breakfasts served each morning; everyday cleaning of rooms; large sitting areas for relaxing; books and maps available as well as advice on what to visit in the area. And, we received a nice welcome tea upon arrival. Excellent location from which to explore Sheep's Head, Beara Peninsula, and Mizen Head Peninsula. Best of all were the very friendly hosts, Dympna and Johnny Crowley and their lovely family. We would come back again for another long stay as we felt at home in their B&B.
Do you like an elder well-kept farm house with splendid sea view without noise and a friendly three generation family helping the owner lady ? Then you will like this accommodation. Convenient room, a lovely flower bed under the window, a big breakfast room and a coshy living room for tea and coffee. If you need any suggestions for tours or places for dining, ask anyone of the family members. They will give you nice tips for every weather.
Excellent breakfast with several options and self-made bread besides the usual toast. The lady of the house gave us very helpful tips about where to go, where to eat ... Our room was sufficiently large and appropiately equipped. A living room where we could sit and drink coffee in the afternoon was really nice to have.
Charming farmhouse run by three generations of the O'Mahoney family. Beautiful location overlooking the sea. Very friendly reception. Delicious breakfasts with plenty of choice. Lots of indivial attention: Mrs O'Mahoney even made a special fresh fruit salad every morning for my melon-allergic friend! Drumcloc is great for a relaxing stay and a perfectly situated base to discover West Cork.
We received a room that had a great view of the coast. Mrs. Crowley was very accommodating with our later arrival and welcomed us with a pot of tea. Bantry is a lovely town and we would love to return!
Our first B & B in Ireland and it was a delight! We enjoyed a nice walk by the water and searching for shells at the water’s edge. Our hostess Mrs. Crowley greeted us a set a nice tea serviced upon arrival. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and a view of the lovely garden.
I had the wonderful opportunity to stay here yet again in March 2019 (the opening of the Irish B&B season). It was wonderful - fantastic hosts (Mr and Mrs Crowley) who are so knowledgeable, a filling Irish breakfast each morning that provides fuel for the day, and a calm and peaceful atmosphere - both the room and the grounds. You won't be disappointed in selecting Dromcloc House. Do know that I will be jealous that you're there on vacation, and I'm not!
