Edencrest B&B was the perfect base for a trip to see west cork. Right from our arrival Josephine went out of her way to make us feel welcome and comfortable in their lovely home.

The room and facilities were in immaculate condition, with extremely comfortable bedding and great communal spaces and hearty breakfast options ready to set us up for a day exploring that the area had to offer.

Beautiful, well appointed with elevated lovely views of Bantry Bay
Made to feel welcome & at home the moment we arrived. The room & en-suite impeccable. The breakfast was freshly cooked and choices wide & superb.
Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Would certainly recommend a break in this lovely B & B

We had a wonderful stay at the Edencrest in Bantry. Josephine and Barry are great hosts who are most helpful with local information and suggestions for places to visit. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very good. Room was very comfortable with a nice water view. Would definitely come back.

My wife and I stayed at the Eden Crest one night on our tour of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Josephine and her husband have recently renovated their house with sea view rooms and ensuite bathrooms. Barry has done an impeccable job of the renovation with excellent fit and finish. Josephine is very welcoming and puts out a fabulous cooked to order breakfast. I highly recommend this place.
Be sure to visit Garinish Island in Glengarriff. It is a short boat ride from the harbor and is covered with beautiful English and Italian style gardens.

We had a lovely room with a very comfy bed. Breakfast was good and the hosts were so friendly. They gave us an excellent recommendation for dinner which was within easy walking distance. Good to find somewhere that didn’t require a two night stay.

Unfortunately we had a very negative experience at the Eden Crest B & B. MInus a few small issues, the house itself was fine, we rented a three bedroom house on the property with kitchen and sitting/dining area. There were some minor issues like not having enough plates and glasses, let alone matching but the view really was terrific. Are experience turned dramatically sour upon departure. We realized that the owner was going to use our departure as an excuse to gauge us as much as possible. Originally in the rental agreement there is no mention of additional billing for heat and electricity but since we were billed in our last house (which we were clearly informed of) a week prior we didn’t take much notice. The house we rented the prior week had a clear meter reading of less than 10 Euros. Upon departing Eden Crest lodge we were not shown the readings on meter and our bill was about 50 Euro’s and they would only take cash. We though it was high but accepted it as the house was larger and we spent more time there. But they refused visa although they clearly had the means to accept it for room payment.
What really ruined our entire experience was the “health and safety violation” our 18 month old committed. Yes, that’s right, you just read that correctly. Our son ripped the tail off a dingy door stop cat that was filled with kitty litter. The bag of litter was not pierced but the tail was ripped. We told the owner up front that we had damaged the cat and were prepared to make amends. However, never in my wildest dreams did i expect him to match through the house examining each room for 10 minutes looking for things to charge us with (nothing else was found). After telling him about the door stop he declared it a health and safety violation and demanded 20 Euros or about $30. Now, this is where I blew my top. I accept that we damaged the cat and it is not unreasonable to ask for it’s replacement value, however 30 dollars for a dingy kitty litter filled door stop was absolutely offensive. We had been so careful with their home all week and tried our best to respect it and i felt it was appalling to take advantage of every given opportunity to grab a penny when possible. Now, I have attached a picture of the offensive door stop so please view it and make up your own mind about whether you think it’s worth 20 Euro’s or $30.00. Also for those of you concerned about the welfare of this poor decrepit door stop which was then further desecrated by having it’s tail ripped off, have no fear, my mom stitched it back on and gave it to my aunt who ironically runs a B & B in Enniscorthy and said she would treasure it as a reminder of how to treat her guests! The cat now has a distinctive place of honor.
The part that i would like to warn all potential guests of the Eden Crest Lodge is this The owner made it very clear that the ran his B & B as a home, not a business, and expects all guests to leave the property is EXACTLY the same condition or pay a steep fine. So, now you have been warned, stay there is you must, but god help you if you break one of the 4 mismatching wine glasses.

It is a shame that after a wonderful week in Bantry that your stay ended in such a way. However on the positive side of things, you are a brilliant story teller, and may like to come back to Bantry for the Literary Festival on the 7th July and explore the 'Short Story Workshop' This unique 5 day workshop will be led by Karen Joy Fowler, winner of the 2014 Pen/ Faulkner Award for best American novel and Nebula Award for Best Short Story. The workshop will guide you through finding your voice and the development of the fundamentals of characterisation, setting, structure and timing.. With regard to house rental and metering of Oil, Electricity and damage, this is normal Policy. I have contacted the Company you booked the holiday home with, for them to contact you to clarify same as they should have on booking. With regard to Ware, our house is fully equipped for self-catering. The Cat we are delighted to hear has been elevated from lowly door stop to a position of pride of place in Enniscorthy !!! Wishing you the best

We selected this B & B based on the reviews of other travellers and must agree that it is a very well run establishment. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful stay. We based ourselves here to travel the Wild Atlantic Way,the Ring of Kerry and the Island of Garinish amongst other sites. Breakfast is served from 8am allowing for an early start each day. Plenty of choice and served in a very pleasant breakfast room.

We stayed at Edencrest for a week. From day 1 we were impressed with the house and all the facilities, but as the week went on, we became more and more impressed for every day. Josephine & her husband Barry were outstanding in every way. Helpful, warm, caring, and excellent chefs. The omelet I had every morning for breakfast was the best I have ever tasted. As for the "full Irish" that my son choose : that was not a breakfast, it was a full course meal. He was stuffed the whole day. Served him well, as he then headed for Bantry Golf course (just around the corner). The weather was wonderful the whole week. Unbelievable - but true. The scenery and view from our bed room window & living room would just blow your mind. Spectacular. Having the use of the Guest living room was super. There was a piano there, and my son was in his element. Played every evening. We had that room to ourselves, and felt totally at home. The B&B even had a wonderful shelf of books. I spend my evening reading as many of the books as possible. What a selection. Something for every taste. The house was immaculate. Very tastefully decorated. The garden / flowers were beautiful. The whole house was amazing. Having 3 B&B rooms was just perfect. We were not alone, and the meeting people every evening / morning from all over Europe / USA / Canada was a lovely treat. An excellent selection of restaurants in Bantry, just a 15 minutes walk away. (When walking to town, I recommend walking by the beach. Beautiful). Thank you again Josephine & Barry for your very generous hospitality. We will be back, and can highly recommend this B&B to all - especially those who have good taste. (When arriving at the B&B, look for Caseys Garage - cant miss it. Ededcrest just up the hill behind the garage).

We as a group of motorcyclists stayed recently with Josephine, what a host. The stay was memorable. Our motorbikes were kept in a safe location for peace of mind. Our breakfast was incredible, a vast menu. Our stay was so good, we as the group stayed on a two more nights & toured all of west cork & Kerry & used this as our base. We have to recommend this haven. Thank you Josephine & Barry (we heard that he is a suppose to be fellow motorcyclist) most delightful.

Thankyou for your comments, we are delighted to hear that you would recommend our B & B to fellow Motor Bike Enthusiasts. Indeed as Barry is a keen cyclist himself is very conscious of the well being of all tourists whom stay with us and is a mind of information when it comes to tips on the best routes when biking in West Cork and Kerry. Join us for the 'Chief O'Neill' Festival November 14th - 16th. as Bantry is bringing the best contemporary musicians to West Cork for a packed programme of concerts, and sessions in the local Pubs!.
