I was staying at the Westlodge Hotel as part of an escorted tour group for 5 nights. It was my first experience with this company and I really did not know what to expect in terms of accommodation. The Westlodge Hotel exceeded all my expectations. The bedroom was extremely comfortable and sparkling clean. Room facilities included kettle, mugs tea coffee / milk pots/ iron and ironing board, hairdryer, plenty of lights / switches including a convenient reading light by bed. Bathroom was excellent with choice of using overhead waterfall shower or handheld shower and a wall mounted extending magnifying mirror. Towels and bath mat changed daily and toiletries supplied. As my sister and I were on a tour holiday we ate together as a tour group for breakfast and dinner in the hotel from a specific tour menu which gave three choices of starter main course and dessert for dinner. There was some repetition of dishes through the week but I welcomed that as all the food was well cooked, generous in portion size and well presented so it gave me the opportunity to try something I missed out on earlier in the week. The breakfast was also plentiful with good choice of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, fruit juice, and as I only discovered on my last day porridge. The porridge was delicious and served with optional cream and portions of honey. A cooked Irish breakfast was available each day of fried egg, bacon, sausage, tomato, white and black pudding. Some days there was also scrambled egg option. Coffee and tea was plentiful and big basket of toast brought to each table and replenished on request. The restaurant was so well managed by Tom (great attention to detail) and Brea (a very warm welcome) that our group were reluctant to leave the restaurant after each meal. My sister and I really enjoyed our visits to the leisure centre enjoying a swim in the pool and relaxing in the jacuzzi, On our last day we also enjoyed playing pitch and putt as we had a free day with a late airport transfer. We saw the gym and snooker room and tennis court/football field but did not use them. We were just made so welcome by all the staff that it was such a pleasure to stay at the Westlodge Hotel. I was told all the staff are local and I certainly wish them every success as the industry recovers from the effects of the pandemic. The fairy trail was also very cute and we enjoyed hearing the birdsong as we explored the grounds. My only suggestion would be to have a breakfast menu on display (the porridge was well hidden with the hot cooked breakfast!) and a note about how to obtain a drink with the evening meal. Although drinking water and glasses were provided any other drink had to be purchased at the bar next door to the restaurant and brought in - this included bottles of wine which guests then took back to their room and brought into dinner again the following evening. Once we knew the process it was fine but a bit confusing at first as in the past I had always ordered drinks in the restaurant when staying in a hotel. Another guest did not eat cheese and sometimes there would be cheese dish included in both starter and main course and this did limit their choice - also soup of the day was always vegetable! The bar did also serve food and we did have a meal there on our last day due to late transfer time and that was very enjoyable.

One night stopover, Saturday night. Hotel was busy checking in, receptionist very pleasant and friendly, room was very good no complaints, slept well, but a bit of noise people leaving bar after closing time. Did not have any food in hotel, other than breakfast which was enjoyable, great to see young people working in the dining room, helpful and attentive, well done, it's such a pity still having to wear the masks. Would gladly return.

Ordered 2 BLT sandwiches and a club sandwich. The bread was very thin, cheap white bread that was soggy! The chips were frozen snd not cooked properly! There were way too many onions in the salad. Not quite sure how they could get this so wrong!! On a positive, the hotel was warm and clean on a rainy day! The waiter was pleasant. Would not recommend for lunch.

Stayed here with family for a few days between Christmas and New Year for a short break. Had never been before so wasn't sure what to expect. Absolutely exceeded expectations. From the moment you walk into the foyer the place has a lovely homely cosy feel and the place is spotless. We booked a deluxe family room and it is the best family room we've ever stayed in. More like an apartment. Two bedrooms and a TV in each along with a decent size bathroom with a great shower. Lots of towels which were changed each day. Also the aircon system was the best of any hotel I've stayed in anywhere in the world. It heats and cools the room quickly and exactly to your preference really quickly and is not some central setting like many other hotels. Staff were universally fantastic in reception, room service, bar, restaurant and pool. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so genuine, helpful and pleasant. We ate in the bar each night and the food was lovely and very reasonably priced. The breakfast was also lovely and the room it is in (the restaurant) is a beautiful room with 360 degree views around the surrounding countryside. Covid regulations were followed strictly at all times and we always felt safe. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and most certainly look forward to returning again. It's location is fantastic for discovering the many beautiful places within 45 mins drive of here. Finally the value for money was excellent. While many other hotels have pumped up their prices since Covid, this hotel remains great value. We always used to go to Kerry before however West Cork is currently much better value, more unspoilt and equally as beautiful scenery wise.

My family and I recently stayed at this fabulous hotel on December 10th. It is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. The staff are amazing and they really thought of every little detail to make the Christmas getaway magical for kids and parents alike. On arrival the kids received hot chocolate while we checked in. The girls on reception were very friendly. We were kindly upgraded to a family suite, very spacious clean room. With a box of roses there. They has a Christmas movie each evening for the kids and they even gave the kids complimentary popcorn. The following day we went on a guided fairy trail walk and got to feed the ducks with duck food the hotel gave the kids. Then we went to meet Mrs Claus. She was very good and had more hot chocolate and cookies waiting for us. Later that afternoon the kids went to the kids club where they made Xmas decorations and decorated cookies and made rainder food for Xmas night. On the last morning we went to the swimming pool for the Xmas swim. Pool was loaded with Christmas inflatables. After check out the main man himself was there to meet and greet the kids. They even had a photographer there to capture the special occasion. The food at the hotel is amazing and left me wanting more and more especially the chocolate brownie. We really enjoyed this stay and the kids are still telling everyone they meet about it. I cant wait to go back next year again for Christmas and hopefully sometime during the summer. Thank you to Annette and all of the staff for an amazing time Alanna and Kyle loved it.

We stayed at the Westlodge Hotel for a weekend stay as part of their Festive Family weekend. From start to finish our stay was so enjoyable. The preparation throughout the entire weekend was fantastic in order to make it a wonderful event for the children. Our three young children had an amazing time from Friday evening check-in right through to Sunday. Everything was thought out really well for the children and parents from Hot Chocolate on arrival, Chocolates in the Bedroom. Christmas movies were scheduled on both nights in the ball room with popcorn for the kids. On Saturday morning, we went on the Elves trail around the lovely grounds and went to meet Mrs Claus in her house and had hot chocolate and cookies. On Saturday evening they had organised Kids Activities for 2 hours from Cookie Decorating, Kids DJ, Musical Statues and much more. We had our Festive Dinner on Saturday night and the whole meal was really tasty with a good choice for the kids also. There was music arranged in the Lobby afterwards and the kids really enjoyed the event. On Sunday morning we had a Festive swim where the pool was decorated and there were water games organised by the team. There was a meeting with Santa in the hotel Reception where they had an area set up for meeting Santa and to have photographs taken by a professional photographer. A special Thanks to Annette, Norma, Molly, Kate, Saoirse, Tom, Brid, Danny and all the lovely staff that we encountered during during our stay. Thanks so much for such a lovely special weekend. Looking forward to next year's Christmas stay.

Having stayed here in August we were disappointed to see that the hotel has a different feel about it this time around. Breakfast was very poor both in quality and choice. I got served up the worst scrambled egg I’ve ever seen! The choice is very limited also and of very poor overall standard. Having eaten in Hannies before we were most disappointed to see it was closed for our stay this time around. The options are to eat in the bar with the choice of a very limited menu or eat in the restaurant which has the exact same menu but dearer. The menu never changed for our entire stay and the food was again mediocre! Unfortunately we will not be rushing back.
