Mona is an absolute legend! A complete character. The house is amazing and a true reflection of Mona. She couldn’t do enough for us. It’s a feast for the senses and the breakfasts were outstanding. You will not be hungry. Style and presentation is what it’s all about. The effort that’s put in to styling each room is second to none. You feel transported to another era. Each room is like a stage setting. Amazing We will definitely be back . Bob and Bern Irish Urns and Memorial trees
Mona runs the most zany, eclectic, creative guesthouse, the warmest welcome to be found anywhere. It’s has been voted “The most unusual B&B in Ireland and I am not surprised. It’s a treasure throve, zany on a whole new level. We delighted in taking in all the curious beings that live there and Victorian and vintage items. Mona is the kindest funniest host, her breakfast was delicious and a grand affair. We stayed in Lis Ard estate the night before and hands down Mona’s breakfast was streets ahead. She is warm funny and took great time with us to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. House was spotless, breakfast delicious , bed so comfortable, warm and cosy. We loved every moment of it . We shall be back. My daughter is 10 and was captivated by the wonder of it all.
It is 47 bridge street and not 74. The proprietor Monica serves local produced food ,supporting local industry delicious and some of the finest in the west cork. Fantastic and you won't be dissappointed. Enjoy your stay. Peter
Best hostess, the quirkiest corner of the west. Every breakfast was different, every day looked different! It's hard to explain, but you will not regret going here. Outside of the house is a town full of characters, beautiful coastline and pints of "I'll never drink Guinness again" (said the fisherman) magical Murphy's.
Arrived in Skibbereen with nothing prebooked and spotted this colourful housefront without noticing the plaque proclaiming it the winner of "Ireland's Most Unusual B&B" competition, so everything was a complete and wonderful surprise. Mona's home is an ongoing, constantly evolving art installation where an eclectic mix of objects and paintings achieve a quirky, creative harmony. Every room is different, and unique, yet it all "works". Her artistry extends to the substantial and beautifully presented breakfast. Location is perfectly central too, so you can have that drink with your dinner. I recommend this wholeheartedly.
We stayed here two nights and loved it! Mona is a great host, she gave lots of tips and information on the area and what to do. The room was clean and the bed extraordinarily comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, with lots of fruit, definitely on the healthier side! And the decor leaves you to discover new things any time you look around. Definitely would stay here again!
I booked this place for myself and my partner after we missed our bus to Clonakilty. We were pleasantly surprised. The Bridge house is a Victorian themed BnB the decor was super wacky full of curiosities the room was comfy like a cosy nest and really homely. Definitely one of the most unusual places I've stayed in. Mona the owner was lovely and took super good care of us and put on a good spread. Thumbs up all round. Thanks Mona. Would highly recommend for people who appreciate eccentricity
I was just so happy to finally get here, it was everything I expected it to be and more , so creative, so arty so WOW! Mona was amazing I aspire to be her, what a beautiful soul, as she said to me there is no one that has come through her doors that she has't said after they were gone that they were lovely. How amazing is that ! also what fab breakfast. Thank you so much Mona
Mona was an incredibly generous host. We slept in an outrageously comfortable bed and awoke to a delicious breakfast!! The bathroom was well kitted our - the shower delightful. A nice atmosphere coming in from the street below as it is so central, but never too loud late at night. We slept well :)
