Our visit was excellent from before we got there until we left. Before we even arrived Mary had helped me to get a booking for the Skellig Michael tour. Nearly all the operators but Mary found probably the last two seats at short notice. The B&B itself was great. The bed was very comfy, the room and house was spotless, the shower was excellent, the breakfast was amazing and the towels were the fluffiest I've ever felt.

We stayed 2 nights in this lovely B&B on Valentia Island. The house is in a great location, just over the bridge from Portmagee and with views overlooking the harbour. The room was spotlessly clean with seated area, tea and coffee facilities, a fridge, TV and ensuite bathroom. Mary was very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area and even went to the trouble of buying in Almond milk for me as I am lactose intolerant - such a lovely lady! The breakfast was delicious and my wife particularly enjoyed the french toast with bacon and maple syrup. On our final day, Mary and Jim sat down and talked with us about the rest of our trip, showed genuine interest and offered recommendations - just lovely people! If you plan to stay on Valentia Island, stay here!

Just completed our 4 night stay with Mary and Jim on Valentia Island. Shealane Country House is a beautifully situated B&B, with gorgeous views of Portmagee Harbour and the surrounding Kerry cliffs. The room and adjoining en suite were lovely, big and spacious akin to any 5 star hotel. Breakfast every morning was a delight with plenty of selection and variety, everything from the traditional fry to French toast and pancakes, served with a smile and a beautiful view. Would stay with Mary and Jim again in a heartbeat, the B&B is brilliantly situated for all activities in Portmagee and Valentia, particularly for anyone visiting the Skelligs. Thanks Mary and Jim for a wonderful stay, really appreciate it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Jim and Mary are truly amazing hosts. Guest rooms and bathrooms are very clean. Breakfast was delicious- hot and hearty for my husband and fruit and yogurt for me. Breakfast room all windows and looking out over to beautiful Portmagee. Would definitely return to this little gem!

We had 2 nights stay at Shealane which wasn’t enough. Mary and Jim are excellent hosts. They are friendly but also informative about what to see in the area. The rooms are spacious and spotless with all mod cons. I didn’t want to leave. The breakfast was exceptional in the garden room with a stunning view. We will be back next year. Angela, Clare and Paul

The B&B is perfect. Lovely location, lovely views over Portmagee - beautiful large rooms with large ensuites. Decorated very nicely. Breakfasts choices are plenty with side tables full of fruits, yogurt, and baked goods. The breakfast room has a beautiful view over Portmagee. You are close enough that you can walk to Portmagee for dinner or if you are taking a cruise to the Skelligs, very nice options as parking in Portmagee is limited and tight. If you are in the area, stay at Shealane and you will not be disappointed.

We are so happy we chose Shealane for our night in Portmagee! Leave your car at the house and walk ten minutes across a scenic bridge to the docks/town. Mary, the host was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. Irish breakfast the next morning was delicious! Room and house was pristine. I can’t say enough good things.

Mary and Jim take care of each of their guests as friends or family, they pay attention to every single detail from the welcoming, to the advices, breakfast and recomendations of places to visit if you are traveling around. It is price worthy and perfect to pass by with your couple, specially because of the cabin looks of the place. And the view, oh boy, the view... words are not enough, if you are around Valentia Island or doing the Ring Of Kerry, Shaelane B&B is a must. ❤

Mary and Jim are the epitome of Irish hospitality. Their breakfasts were delicious - whether it was savory ham and cheese toasties or sweet breakfast treats. The rooms were spacious, clean and opened up to breathtaking views of the countryside and the harbor. Prior to arrival we had asked Mary to arrange for a trip out to Skellig Michael and it could not have been better planned and arranged for us. After we returned home we wanted to try to purchase Portmagee Whiskey and Mary immediately responded with contact information to the distillery, If you are going to Portmagee you will not be disappointed if you stay with Mary and Jim at Shealane Country House.
