Brian and Jackie are just great hosts- from the minute we met them they were so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. It really didnt feel like we were guests. We booked one of their self catering cottage- it was so nice we extended our stay for an extra night. Everything you want was in the cottage for self catering holiday. The cottage was spacious modern but very in keeping with the cottage theme. Two large wetrooms, large dining area. I loved that they provided us with timber for the stove. Our kids played happily outside in the garden feeding their hens and playing with there cats. Jackie even offered some beautiful herbs if we needed it. We have already booked for 2021 and I have and would highly recommend booking these cottage- totally relaxing.
We chose Atlantic Villa both for its historic value and close proximity to Port Magee and, thus, Skellig Michael. Jackie and Brian are your consummate hosts who extended that warm hospitality the Irish are renowned for. Months in advance of our arrival I requested Jackie's help in securing seats on one of the few boats licensed for landing tours of Skellig Michael; she came through for us. There are no facilities on Skellig Michael and it is recommended that visitors bring a prepared lunch and water - Jackie and Brian to the rescue again, for an added fee of course. We stayed in the "Africa" room, a king garden view room with shower en suite - clean, quiet, and comfortable. As Americans we felt the bed was more a queen than a king but we managed comfortably. Breakfast was a delight - fresh eggs, produce, and honey...I enjoyed the large dining table around which all the guests would have communal breakfast together. The house and property are lovely and there is much to see and do on Valentia island if you have the time. Thank you Jackie and Brian - your attention to detail and attentiveness was much appreciated! Aloha ~More…
We spent 3 nights at Atlantic Villa and were made most welcome by Jackie and Brian. Plenty of suggestions of things to do and where to eat. We visited Skellig Michael from there and it was just a short drive for the 8:30 start from Port Magee. Ten minute walk into Knightstown for restaurants and cafes.
Four friends visiting Kerry for the first time and couldn’t have chosen a better place. Jackie and Brian are wonderful hosts with a gorgeous and historic home, lovely gardens and comfortable beautifully furnished rooms. Breakfast is outstanding. Valentia Island is stunning and unspoilt and its people delightful. ❤️
We chose to stay on Valentia Island for 3 nights to celebrate a family birthday and visit the Skelligs. Without doubt, what made it special was Atlantic Villa. Jackie and Brian could not have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful in suggestions of places to visit, walks, good food in the area etc.. And the breakfasts they gave us were the best ever: delicious, high quality, colourful (with flowers from the garden!) and scrumptious meals, beautifully served with fresh produce, including the best soda bread I've ever tasted (home made by Jackie). We would definitely recommend this as a wonderful place to stay, tucked away from the road, with a pretty garden, lovely sea views, but only a short stroll down to the harbour.
My friends and I did a road trip covering much of Ireland in two weeks. And we loved staying in Atlantic Villa most of all! Valentia Island is a great place to stay and this is the best B&b. The hosts are charming, the house comfortable, and the breakfasts are out of this world.
We loved our stay at Atlantic Villa. The location is lovely and Kinghtstown is a charming little village. Our room had a view of the gardens and sea. Jackie was friendly and extremely helpful and found a book about the locality for me from their extensive library. Best of all was breakfast, with an amazing spread of locally-sourced options. My Skelligs porridge with honey from their own bees was fantastic. We hope to be back!
After 55 years travelling since leaving school , business and pleasure, this B@ B in my opinion presented by far the best breakfast you will find anywhere. and that includes the Grand Hotel in Stockholm. Newcomers to B@B, the hospitality was beyond outstanding.
We had a great stay at Jackie's Atlantic Villa and I particularly appreciated Jackie's help in explaining what to do on the island, where to eat and a bit of history. And then the breakfast... beat breakfast in a long long time! From home made muesli to the full Irish breakfast with wild boar sausages, all the way to the porridge with edible flowers. All delicious and explanained like they do in Michelin star restaurants! Oh and there are a couple of lovely cats who like to play, but they're not allowed in the house so don't get tempted!
Can't recommend this highly enough. Jackie is a wonderful host, and made us feel so welcome. The house and rooms are gorgeous and very comfortable - ours had a lovely sea view too. Breakfast was fantastic. I hope we can stay again sometime.
