Detailed Reviews
We felt completely tucked away from the town of Cahersiveen, despite being a ten minute walk from the grocery. The view of the beach and the waterfront was amazing for every camper van spot all around us. It was nice and quiet when you wanted it for the night.
The facilities were also everything you could possibly need for a long stay. The washrooms were very large and clean, and the same would go for the showers. The laundry facilities are token operated and have multiple machines to accommodate everyone without any back up lines. The Kitchen has plenty of cooking utensils and pans for anything you might need, and communal fridge space to boot!
And even after all of that, there was still a large sitting room with music, books, and puzzles if you feel the need to get out of the camper life for a day or two.
I highly recommend Mannix Point to anyone who is looking for a beautiful places to rest and recharge while touring through the ring of Kerry

Hello Thremos. Thank you for your excellent review. Please forgive me for taking so long to respond to you. Health issues got in the way of things I should have been doing and then I forgot. I am always happy to read that guests enjoyed their holiday at Mannix Point. Our aim is to try to provide the quality that we would like to experience ourselves. I hope we meet again sometime. We arrived on the second last Saturday of the season, we got the waterfront site@Cantwell we requested, our check-in by the ever lovely and professional Pat who made us feel welcome.Rates explained and shower tokens bought, including the necessary WiFi password!!!!!!!!! The check-in area was spotless as were the bathrooms and shower facilities where the water is super hot.( The tea tree hand wash smelled great too).If needed they have washing machines and dryers, precovid a lovely sitting room with a turf fire was available to guests and trad musicians played. Our site was easily found with great signage, and at night, night lights light the way to the bathrooms. The power hook up was seamless. The second night was the treat everyone wants but seldom gets a fabulous west of Ireland sunset 🌇.We spent a week at Mannix point we got to meet the infamous Mortimer and shared an evening meal with Guinness a friendly black and white cat.The site was busy alot of camper vans and day campers but the silent nights were peaceful as everyone followed the 23.00 quiet request. If Mannix point was open all year I would if I could spend a year there, I have no hesitation in recommending Mannix point to anyone for however long they need to stay.Betty and Ray

Hello Betty and Ray. Thank you for your excellent, comprehensive review. I am very happy to know that you enjoyed your visit so much that you "could spend a year there". Guinness, the cat would be happy for you to feed and entertain him. I hope that you have an opportunity to visit again and have many opportunities to enjoy our west of Ireland sunsets. Another lovely stay in Mannix Point ! The best campsite in Ireland - and coping well with the new rules and procedures around COVID. Extra cleaning staff and limits to those allowed to enter the shower area ensure our safety as much as possible - although it is up to each family to act responsibly.
Despite the forced closure of the much loved sitting room and dining area, the campsite still offers a superb location and a safe environment for families who are glad to escape the home for a break with kids.
Thanks to Mortimer, Pat and the team for looking after our group for another year xxx

Hello Marguerite F. Thank you for lifting our spirits after some terrible reviews when we were starting up this year. It was a tough time with very little guidance. We made mistakes but got them sorted as quickly as we were able. It is refreshing to read that you had a lovely stay. The enforced closure of the sitting room and kitchen was a big disappointment, particularly for regulars. I had the whole interior re-decorated and new features incorporated but nobody could see them. You will have to come back!!! Thank you very much for your comment that Mannix Point "offers a superb location and a safe environment for families". Cheers, Mortimer.

This campsite is located in the lovely region of caherciveen close to Valentia and lovely white strand beach. Unfortunately we were put in pitch where we had to climb a small wall to bring all our camping equipment to our pitch. We had a large family tent but we had little to no room to navigate where to pitch. The campers were packed in side by side with little thought given to social distancing. The facilitues were unbelievable shut every evening at 8pm sharp. We had access to a small porta loo which was far too limited for all campers on site. These facilities were cleaned during the day but from 8pm they were not. There was problems where the flushing of toilets dud not work. Urine and toilet paper all over the floor and very very unhygienic in the current situation. Very very disappointed we had booked for 7 nights but we left after 2 and booked into another campsite in Tralee with spotless facilities. Location very pretty and plenty to see in the area but would not recommend a campsite that closes facilities at 8pm particularly in a pandemic.

Hello Scttcv. Thank you for your positive comments but I regret that on the whole you had an unsatisfactory experience. It is extremely difficult to organise social distancing when two or more families decide to pitch their tents side by side. It is because of the pandemic that some of the facilities are currently restricted at night. The showers are cleaned and sanitised after each use and I have been unable so far to get a night cleaner. The flushing of the toilet problem was dealt with quickly. The plumber arrived the following day to remedy the the situation. These are difficult times for all of us. I sincerely regret that you did not experience and enjoyable time. Cheers, Mortimer.

Following heavy rain the campsite was a complete swamp, muck and deep ponding throughout. Very poor drainage coupled with a boil water notice on drinking water, piles of rubbish with bins on refuse collection day. The washing machines and dryers cost €7 per cycle. A single sign warning of children at play was simply insufficient, mini digger arrived on site at speed, bin trucks and other vehicles speeding past the playground. The playground is a bank of muck with approx 4 trees and a rope swing! There is no sand on the beach and no waves, not even a life buoy in sight. Music and sing-song commenced almost every evening at 9pm approx and continued into the night, not ideal for those with small children.

My fiance and I stayed at the campsite for 2 nights this July 2020. We arrived to a cramped site where family tents were side by side, not much of social distancing. It was hard finding car parking after we came back later in the evening (around 9 pm).
Thankfully we had booked a large pitch so we had plenty of space for our 3 man tent. The campsite is located in a nice town of Cahersiveen and the campsite itself has nice views. The showers are cleaned after each use, but the main building gets closed at 8 pm so no more showers and the toilets are in a cabin which gets very dirty quickly. There are only 2 small sinks close to each other so again no social distancing is possible. There should have been hand sanitisers, but none were available only by the main building which were impossible to use as they get stuck and don't work almost everytime.
The campsite is good if you have kids and some parents let their kids do whatever they liked, climbing trees, running around and almost playing with other people's stuff. The silent time starts from 11 pm and there was no one going around to tell people to be quiet. We couldn't sleep, but didn't say anything to the people right next to us as they were talking loudly and their kids shouting till after 12. Another family had their child talking/singing from 6 am and didn't even try to silence him. We had the worst sleep for those 2 nights and were supposed to go to another campsite, but actually cancelled and went to a B&B instead to get some decent sleep. It was like a zoo! The campsite is too busy especially in a pandemic..

Hello. I regret that you had an unsatisfactory visit to our campsite. These are strange times. We are experiencing conditions that we never encountered before. The sanitisers that you refer to have to be frequently replaced because people take them. They cannot be screwed to the wall as they are in the main block. Soap is also provided and taken. It is difficult to regulate social distancing when two or more families choose to camp side by side. Surely it the responsibility of parents to take care of their children. I agree with you that having a child singing to parents at 6 am is unacceptable. It is evident that your choice of a B&B is more suited to your requirements than a family campsite. Cheers. Mortimer.

Haven read all the reviews on Trip Advisor I decided to make a booking. How glad I was. It was one of the best campsites I have ever been. Check in was fast and we were taken to our pitch. The site was very well run, with plenty of suggestions where to go and what to do in the area. I was there with my 3 children ranging in age from 3 to 8. I felt safe there. The site was quite at night. The toilets and shower blocks were spotlessly clean and I noticed that after each use of the showers they were cleaned and sanitized. The two cleaners couldn't be more helpful. Now I know why this campsite has earned "Top Campsite in Ireland. I will be back and hopefully I will bring my husband next time.

A great location on the ring of Kerry. Mannix Point is truly one of our favourite campsites. The waterside location is quiet and peaceful with beautiful views. Mortimer, Pat and all their staff are so helpful and friendly and always ready to chat and offer advice. Mark really enjoyed talking to Mortimer about local hikes and archaeology and we were lucky enough to meet Darragh and buy his delicious sourdough and locally produced pesto. The facilities are always spotless with fresh flowers on display and lyric fm in the background while you have a nice hot shower. Lovely flowers planted around the main building and even better facilities available out of Covid times. Looking forward to returning very soon.

I will begin with the positives...beautiful location, large supermarket within 10mins walking distance, the beautiful Valentia Is. taking the car ferry is within 5mins drive, internet is very good, we found it quiet at night time, lots of hot water for washing up. Negatives, THE DUST, OMG...can ye please tar the road into it & in there. Everything was destroyed with dust, our dog got a terrible eye infection in both eyes. We stayed in Cantwell, I would recommend this area, near to dusty road but v few midgets compare to close to the water. Badly needs lights at night time down to the bathroom. Tokens needed for showers, I take a v quick shower & was only just finished, needs to be bigger area to leave dry clothes while showering, I recommend changing back in your tent. Keevys chipper have AMAZING fish & chips in the town & enjoy a lovely guinness in the shibeen across the road while you wait for them. I personally would rate this campsite as a 3.5, not a 5.

Hello Bridle. Thank you for your positive and negative review. I am happy to read all the positive things but regret that you were unhappy with some. In fine weather the dust can be unpleasant. I particularly regret your discomfort for your dog and hope he is now recovered. I do not own the road and it has been scheduled for years to be renewed. In my considerable experience of camping I have always taken a torche for nightime. I consider our subtle solar lights more acceptable. For showers, five minute token is usual at campsites. (no price increase for almost 40 years). I am happy that you enjoyed some aspects of your visit but unhappy that it was not as enjoyable as I would have liked. Cheers, Mortimer.

This was my first time camping in a verry long time & despite taking us 20 years to visit Mortimer - it was worth the wait & our next visit is being planned & we’ve not unpacked yet. This campsite is award winning and I can understand why! You will be met in reception by Mortimer who clearly loves Mannix point & is on hand to answer any questions.
We camped in the Headland & it had a sea view and was wonderful - with our fellow friendly but relaxed campers. Dogs were all on leads as I’m scared. Toilet block wasn’t too far but I didn’t use in the middle of the night - they are plentiful & clean. I didn’t use the showers on site but you buy a token in reception for 5 mins of hot water.
There are shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance. It’s a lovely town, buzzing and friendly fellow Mannix campers. There was music every evening on site which was good Craic. We loved our stay and can’t wait to go back
