The great Mortimer has passed away to God's Campsite, but members of his family continue his legendary standard of hospitality. Stands are arranged in small individually-named paddocks with many facing the stony beach and sea inlet. Full range of facilities includes a music room which hosts regular (and irregular) sessions. During our visit we had a memorable trad music concert featuring some of Kerry's best-known players and singers. Iffy wi-fi. About 2km into Caherciveen and a large church named after a politician- Danie O'Connell.

Hello Frank, Thank you for your kind words regarding the site and the passing of our dear uncle Mortimer, it never ceases to amaze me how many people he knew and became friends with throughout the years. Hopefully we will see you again in 2023 for more impromptu music sessions! Hopefully we will have Peter and Rose back for some of those concerts outside as well, I can't wait. Cheers, Terry

We’ll I can only say that this was my second visit to “Mannix Point”Motorhome park and again I had the most fantastic experience here. Charlotte is in command and nothing is to much for her to do for you. From checking you in and saying goodbye she is there for you. Fabulous toilets and showers and a state of the art campers kitchen with everything you need to cook your meal’s. The views from the site all around are stunning. Great space between the pitches so your not on top of each other. Mannix Point I will be back without a doubt! Thank you Brian.

Hello Brian, Thank you for such a glowing review - just be careful as I see you say it's your second time? As my uncle Mortimer used to say "Beware, one holiday here can result in a lifetime of return visits!" - it seems you're already on the way. Thank you in particular for your comments about nothing being too much to do, it really means a lot. Every person who comes here deserves to feel that way. Anything that we can do means you have more time and energy to relax. As another camper said to me recently "today - I'm going to do some extreme relaxing" - that was a new one for me. Looking forward to seeing you next year Brian, until then take care and all the best. Cheers, Terry

Hello Molly and thank you for your kind review, I see you have a real knack for photography, that picture could be in one of our guides - you've captured the atmosphere perfectly! We've had a beautiful September down here indeed, we've been very lucky, it's my favourite month personally. Great weather for kite flying as you well know. We've had some beautiful clear skies for star gazing the last few nights also. Hopefully we will see you again in the future. Thanks again. Cheers, Terry

What perfect spot and recently taken over by a charming young man. Location amazing , views of the Shannon and surrounded by mountains. With the current owners new ideas mixed with his uncles foresight I'm sure this site will flourish. I truly hope to come back again. When we spotted this destination on a picture at the mohone show in Birmingham we new we had to go. Lovely little touches with a communal kitchen/cooking area. Plates fridges cutlery and microwaves. Covered outdoor space and even a snug with log fire if needed. Bathrom facilities were spotless, unable to comment on showers and we had one on board . Walking distance to bars and resgurants. We even walked a couple of mike to the car/foot ferry and dpent a few hours on the island of Valencia.

Hello there, what a glowing review, thank you so much. I remember meeting you well and thank you again for the guide book. I very much appreciate your incredibly kind words. Indeed my uncle most certainly had a vision when he started almost 40 years ago and we will make sure it lives on and build on it as he would have done, one thing Mortimer never did was remain static. I'm glad you got to see Valentia, it is a wonderful place with spectacular views and extraordinary history. Hopefully we will see you again, until then take care and thank you again. Cheers, Terry

Beautiful campsite with all the necessary amenities. Every pitch has a stunning view and on a clear night you can see thousands of stars across the sea. Lovely friendly welcome made us feel immediately at home. Thank you for two wonderful nights - we wish it could have been longer!

Hello Liz, Thank you for such a warm review. As I remember your pitch was overlooking Valentia Island and I know exactly what you mean. One night last Christmas time I woke up at 4am and could not get back to sleep so decided to take a walk along where you were staying and had a similar experience, I had never seen that many stars in my life. When the sky is like that you can walk around with no torch and see everything it really is magical. I wish I could attach photos to replies here to show you the ones I took but your photos are really something thank you so much for sharing. We are very lucky to be situated in the area of Kerry's Dark Sky Reserve and I'm glad you got to see it on a clear night. Sure maybe next time you can stay longer. Until then all the best and take care. Cheers, Terry

This site is welcoming from the minute you arrive. Pat on reception is a lovely gent. The facilities are clean, showers are €2 but you have loads of hot water and enough time to have a long shower and wash your hair. Kitchen and laundry are excellent. Sitting room/music room is an added bonus. The social area is a great way to meet and chat with other campers. The views from the site are spectacular. Based right on the waters edge with mountains, sea, castle, sun set, birds, everything you could wish for and more. The town of Caherciveen with its many shops, is just a few minutes by car. There is a big centra shop just outside the site. We are just home, we visited for three nights with our two little dogs and only wished we didn’t have to go leave. Will be back soon.

Hello Marie, Thank you very much for your review and kind words, particularly regarding the facilities, many people have said to me over the summer that Mannix Point is a camper's campsite :) And yes with the views, nature and history of the surrounding area it is a special place indeed. Glad you got home safe and sure we'd be happy to see you again when you're back down in Kerry. Cheers, Terry

+: very friendly welcome, very nice location, lovely evening in the music room singing together, friendly advice with regards to continuing our trip -: campsite is not very clearly divided - also not very handy to park, you have to pay extra for the showers (why not have an price which includes this?)

Hello Matthias, thank you for your kind review. I think you will find that most if not all campsites of this standard in Ireland charge for showers now. I do remember your stay and this was the only pitch we had available on such a busy weekend. I am delighted to hear you got to experience a lovely evening of music and that our advice was helpful, there is so much to do and discover here on the Iveragh Peninsula. We hope to see you again some time. Cheers, Terry

Van pitch was good - great view but expensive. Way too crowded for the tent folks - more like tent city. Toilet block too small and tiny kitchen for the number of people. Toilets blocked early evening, still blocked the following morning. Reminded me of Glastonbury toilets. Not pleasant. Would not recommend due to overcrowding and lack of maintenance

Hello Michael, Thank you for your positive comments regarding your pitch and the surroundings. I regret that on the whole you had an unsatisfactory experience. Regarding the toilets I assure you this was a once off and was dealt with immediately. Changes are being made to our water system to ensure this cannot happen again. You’ll be pleased to hear we are already looking at how our kitchen facilities can be better used for next season as the kitchen is indeed a facility campers cherish much like our campers sitting room. Regarding tents I remember my uncle Mortimer telling me earlier this year that family tents are getting bigger each year so I am also working on how we can better accommodate very large tents to avoid crowding. If you look at our other reviews Michael you will see that people who come to Mannix Point have an overwhelmingly wonderful experience in terms of our dedication to each and every campers trip, the cosy atmosphere of the camper’s sitting room and its legendary music sessions, our knowledge of local walks and nature and the cleanliness and care of our facilities. Cheers, Terry

Such a great place to visit, first time camper so got somethings wrong but this location is fantastic.Slept to the sound of the sea and seabirds.Pity fridge so small couldn't fit my milk and small bits of food, this was my only complaint. I went with my two teenagers who are always on their phones , they loved it even when phones went out of charge no complaints.9/10 (no milk for morning coffee due to fridge issues) only reason it's not a 10.

Hello Lynda and thank you for your warm review and I am delighted that your experience as a first time camper was so positive. It is a blessing to wake up to the sound of the sea and nature every morning. It is also something we've noticed that is magical here that young people are forgetting about their phones! Thank you for the feedback on fridge storage, we're looking at how to improve on fridge use - the perfect morning coffee is very important to a camper! All the best and take care Lynda. Cheers, Terry
