Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I suppose a 3-star rating is a bit mean because we loved the apartment, but my wife has reduced mobility due to arthritis, and climbing the stairs to our first-floor apartment was very stressful for her. When I booked the apartment for 5 nights I assumed there would be a lift there. Going over my booking 4 days before our stay I realized there was no lift in the complex. I rang Sneem Hotel and asked if we could have a ground-floor apartment because of my wife's disability but was told all ground-floor apartments were booked but he would make a note of my request. When we got there we were given a key to Apartment 26 which is on the first floor. During our stay, we noticed that, yes there were people there with dogs and some people with children in the ground-floor apartments but there were also young people there with no children or dogs and we were wondering why we could not be offered one of these apartments. Climbing the stairs was very difficult for my wife and as a result, when she went up the stairs in the evening she didn't come down until the following morning thus missing out on a stroll around the grounds or a meal in the hotel. I just felt no effort was made to facilitate us. We even considered checking out early because of the problem with my wife climbing the stairs. We were told by one of the residents downstairs that it was difficult to get a ground-floor apartment because people with dogs usually have them booked. Also, there are no wheelchair parking spaces near the self-catering apartments. For this reason, I would not recommend Sneem self-catering for people in wheelchairs or people with reduced mobility. I mentioned this to the lady in the reception when checking out but she didn't seem very interested.

We had our wedding in this hotel in August 2023. From start to finish the service was exceptional. The staff are amazing! Everyone is still talking about the service from the hotel and how the staff looked after everyone. Nicola, Barbara and Louise were a dream to deal with as well as the rest of the staff team. Such a beautiful hotel. The grounds of the hotel are amazing- sea, mountains etc. Hotel rooms are clean, cosy and offer great scenic views. We really reccomemd this hotel to get married in or even just for a break away. The food is amazing too! Sebastian the chef is great.

This wasn’t our first time in this hotel. We have stayed here numerous times over the last ten years. Our three kids always loved it. We have stayed in both the apartments and the hotel. However, we will not be returning. On the positive side the hotel is spotless, the grounds are immaculate and the breakfast was very good. On the negative side, the food in the bar was awful, really appalling and seriously overpriced. On the first evening both my child and I ordered the fish and chips, her fish and chips was a kids meal but she had more food on her plate than came out on the adult serving. The second night I ordered the special which was cod with a Crab and Parmesan crust with a saffron sauce. The meal came out covered with a very bad tasting yellow sauce which was vile. I sent the meal back and was waiting so long the rest of my family finished their meal. When my meal finally arrived there was no crust at all, in fact it looked like it was the remains of different fish put together. I refused to eat it. The children’s Thai curry had a taste of a tomato based pasta sauce and was chillied to death, she left it. There was no atmosphere in the bar, this might have something to do with the fact that there was no Irish bar staff on duty for both nights. The bar staff who were on duty also doubled up as the waiters and they were courteous and mannerly. For the height of summer and the sneem festival in full swing, it was far from full, in particular the apartments. There was serious lack of families compared to previous visits we had and the average age of the clientele seemed much older than previous visits. We will not be returning and that’s a shame as we loved it and have fabulous memories of it.

Been many years since we stayed . This is a fabulous location. The hotel is immaculatly clean throught. Food is great amd lovely staff. However at breakfast I asked for a cappachino and I was informed I would be charged extra for it . Now we stay in hotels a lot year on year and NEVER have I been asked to pay for a coffee at breakfast. After a great stay this leaves a bad taste on my mouth. Will we stay again ? For sure. But who ever decided it would be a good buisness move to apply this charge was sadly mistakin. €240 we paid for 1 night and expected to pay this is riddoculous.

The Sneem Hotel was amazing! My daughter and I were attending a friend's wedding, and everything was perfect. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and fun, and the overall experience an amazing adventure. The town of Sneem is adorable and authentic Irish! We would absolutely recommend this facility to anyone traveling to the Irish countryside.

Visited this hotel this month and stayed in one of the self catering apartments. About 10 days before I arrived I enquired about air/conditioning in the apartments and was informed “yes the apartments all have air-conditioning”. We arrived to find this was not true and as we were experiencing very warm weather in Ireland at the time it left the apartment very stuffy and uncomfortable at times. The apartments are sufficient for a family of 4. Nothing special at all. They lack a certain something. I must say they were spotlessly clean. I found it strange that there was just 4 of everything… 4 knives, 4 spoons etc. No separate bin for recycling in your apartment so everything into the one bin. No washing up utensils provided for hand washing anything . The hotel is in a beautiful area and set on a beautiful site. The girl on reception couldn’t have been more helpful… she was exceptionally helpful. Some of the bar staff are inexperienced, we ate in the hotel 2 nights food was excellent. It is a lovely place to have a meal but there is just something missing about the whole place. It was extremely quiet while we were there and we found this strange. Red the resident dog is a beautiful animal and completely daft but our dog did enjoy interacting with him. We were blessed with fantastic weather during our stay which meant we didn’t have to stay in apartment much, would we return sadly probably not…. The apartments are not 4 star quality.
