The Sneem Hotel comes highly recommended for its friendly service and spotless cleanliness, with guests consistently noting the pristine rooms and facilities. Situated in a prime location, the hotel is ideal for exploring the town and nearby coast, drawing many visitors back. While the rooms are spacious and boast magnificent sea views, some guests have mentioned that the atmosphere could be more vibrant. Despite the praise for the amenities, there are concerns about the value, as some travelers find the pricing for both the rooms and food to be on the expensive side without a corresponding level of quality.

We booked Sneem Hotel as part of our trip to Kerry. One of the main reasons for booking it was the brilliant location and the scenery around it we saw in the pictures. The reality of the location and the beautiful scenery around the hotel is far greater than what we saw in the pictures and this was a great place to stay.

We were scheduled to stay 5 nights and on check in we realised that the room was not to the specifications we requested, i.e. lake view. The staff were quick to accommodate our request and change our room within an hour of checking in so that was brilliantly handled and gave us a great first impression.

The room was great and quite spacious. We were quit early with the decor and cleanliness.

The hotel has had to adapt to COVID restrictions and as such dining requires booking ahead even for breakfast. Service was a bit slow but that is also most likely to the adaptations they have had to make. Nevertheless the dining experience was great and Joe in particular always made sure we were made to feel comfortable and welcome.

All in all, this is a great hotel to stay in if you are in the area with great surroundings that make for excellent walks and drives.

This is a nice standard 4 star hotel. The staff are very friendly and the owners’ beautiful big dog often greets guests in the foyer. There are lovely touches around the hotel as a nod to the hotel’s history and the locality.

My room didn’t have a water view so half of the hotel’s rooms look out on to the car park side, the other half.....onto the water. So when booking, if you want a water view room, ensure you book it.

The bar, which serves food also, seemed to have more a a restaurant style setup rather than what you might expect from a traditional Irish bar. The staff were happy to serve drinks to those sitting on the couches in the lobby which also housed a lovely solid fuel fire.

The view from the restaurant is pretty, overlooking Sneem bay with the mountains in the distance. The breakfast was a cooked buffet and was tasty. Check in and check out was hassle free and there was plenty of parking available.

The only thing which I was a little disappointed in was the little tv in the bedroom and also I have an aversion to two single beds being pushed together to make a ‘double’ bed. A double mattress makes a double bed in my view. But the room was quiet and comfortable and clean.

I recently stayed here for two nights, and were very impressed with the place. The staff are very pleasant, professional and friendly. Our large room over looked the little cove, with a huge comfortable bed, very clean bathroom with plenty of vanity products. Due to Covid 19, the room was not serviced during our stay but fresh towels etc were available on request. My only fault with the room was the pillows were a bit too full for me, I'm sure housekeeping would have changed them had I requested them.
Food was available in the bar and restaurant and drinks were served in the lobby. While there was a bit of a wait between courses at dinner, the food was very good indeed. I would recommend their La Linda Malbac.
Many guests in the self catering apartments had their dogs with them, and there seems to be a couple of rooms set aside in the hotel's ground floor that accommodate dogs too.
A point of note is that there are electric car charging stations available to guests.
Also, I would advise when booking to book a slot for dinner and breakfast the suits you as when we arrived slots were limited. I would recommend this hotel as a base visiting the lovely Ring of Kerry.

Just back from a 3 night stay at sneem hotel, it's our 2nd year coming here to their apartments. Our apartment was considerably smaller then last year despite booking for 2 adults, 2 kids, and 2 babies back in march.
The place was not cleaned to even a pre covid standard, the couches had stains down the sides and the carpet was covered in crumbs and dirt. The bed sheet in the room my children slept in had a large orange stain in it like something had been spilled and stained. Luckily my husband found clean sheets in the a linen cupboard.
We asked reception and we had been originally booked for another apartment but someone made a mistake and it was too late to rectify. We had no balcony furniture and every other apartment did and when we enquired we were told there wasnt enough some had been broken and there was none left.
At breakfast there were signs that read 'banana bread' and 'muffins', but every morning these plates were empty, breakfast was finished at 10:45, but there was none at 8am and nobody replenished these any of the mornings. There was also never any pastries, just empty trays. The staff seemed irritated and impatient at breakfast and dinner, I even ordered drink from a waiter who didn't even stop walking past as he took my order. Very rude.
I like the hotel for its location because sneem is a lovely place. But the hotel is dated, the staff rude, poor service, and hygiene poor.
I think they are relying on the location to keep them afloat, there are much nicer hotels in less beautiful locations.

We visited Sneem recently and stayed at the Sneem Hotel self-catering apartments. The staff were really lovely and the setting of the hotel was beautiful. The food was really good, so if you didn't want to venture further, you didn't have to. We had our labrador with us, and this dog friendly apartment option was brilliant. Thankfully the staff proritise dog parents to book eating on the terrace. The staff were also very clear from the start that the dog was not allowed in the hotel or bar; we appreciated this clarity at check-in. One point I would say is the apartment needed to be recleaned on our arrival (it was done immediately). We found dirty socks and popcorn down the side of the couch while looking for the tv remote. The staff were embarrassed I think and sorted it out very quickly.

Overall, we would happily return. Sneem was just gorgeous as a village too. Little pubs, other places to eat (the hotel is just on the edge of the village, walk is 4 mins to town from apartment) and within 15mins drive of Derrynane (OPW building of Daniel O'Connell's country home). It was also 30mins drive from Kenmare.

We ordered a superior sea -view room and we got a huge, huge room with a beautiful view especially when the tide was in.
There was a bad smell in our room, like dampness in the carpet and despite reporting it, nothing was done.
The food was really quite poor and inconsistent with only minor changes to the menu from day-to-day.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Lovely hotel in lovely location
We had bar food ist nite..potato soup was shocking and the chips were frozen shoestring..
I always dislike when the vegetarian option is goats cheese salad..grant me patience..
Breakfast the staff were very nice but it was so so chaotic
The 3 mornings we stayed we never once got all we had ordered
All different staff on each table
You could get toast but no tea or tea instead of coffee or get served something you didnt order or just have food you ordered not turn up at all..

This was our 3rd visit a Sneem Hotel and we decided to stay in the apartments on this occasion and we were not disappointed , the apartment was big and spacious , very clean with all mod cons and would not hesitate to return. My only gripe was the dinner menu in the restaurant was very poor with a very basic selection , hence only one visit to restaurant during our 4 night stay., also on checking out they tried to charge me for drinks I had already paid for with cash on the the night , the drinks were also charged to our apartment. I had already ready paid up front for our stay on arrival and there after paid for everything I got in the hotel by cash, if i hadn't have done that and just put it on my room and would never have noticed it on check out.....I got it rectified......but I would advise everyone to check there bill on check out

Just back from a four night stay in this hotel.
Everything was top class beautiful room with amazing view.
Staff were very friendly, especially the receptionist from Dublin (for a Southsider 😂)
food was very good we had dinner every night in hotel it was top class.
Please be careful if you decide to walk into Sneem Village, via the river walk way, it is not very safe if you are not steady on your feet.

Check out the SuperValu hotel deals as usually we book through this site. This time we went with the hotel's own offer of 3 nights B&B with 2 evening meals for 2 €380. Well worth it.
