Tahilla Cove Country House is the perfect location to stay between Kenmare and Sneem. Nestled in the cove, you feel as if you are staying in a secret “locals only” spot. However, Kenmare and Sneem are both a quick drive away. James is an excellent host with a wealth of knowledge on the local attractions. He helped us plan our upcoming travels and gave invaluable advice on what to see and avoid. The accommodations, and breakfast, were exceptional. 5/5 would highly recommend to anyone traveling the ring of Kerry!
A secluded quite place with brilliant views and ambience from the dining room and residents lounge. A full hearty breakfast with a variety of choices that sets you up for the day ahead. The drive to this accommodation is made worthwhile.
This is the most special place I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The sea and mountains were almost at the food of our bed. Outside the window is a lake, a pier and a small island. The inside is full of old world charm. There are amazing lounge rooms. The breakfast is a four course treat, all served to you, with none of the queues and hassle of buffet. The owners were very welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. This place is full of tranquility and is an inspiring location to recharge your batteries and de-stress. I will be back.
We stayed for four wonderful nights here. The house was beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Our room was clean, well appointed, spacious, comfortable, very bright and had a beautiful view out onto the cove. There were a variety of options for breakfast which was always delicious while we enjoyed the view of the cove. Our hosts, James and Deirdre were extremely gracious, always helpful and generous with their time and assisted us with suggestions of where to visit and what to do in the area. The area itself is very beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in one of the best guest houses we have ever had the pleasure to stay in.
My story is a very personal one. My grandmother came to the US when she was 17 years old. When I began doing my family history she was long gone as was the majority of the family on my Mothers side, including my mother. I didn't have much to go on at all. I knew that Nana had come from Tahilla and a genealogist was able to provide me with information about the land and the house where she grew up. Staying at this wonderful country house ended up being more than I could have ever imagined. First, the house and the land is beautiful. The scenery is majestic. I could have stayed forever! The property is beautiful and the rooms were sweet, quiet, comfortable and clean. The food was fabulous and cooked by James himself who is the owner of the beautiful place. I just can't say enough about James. He went OUT OF HIS WAY to help me connect with people who knew my family. James has spent his entire life in the tiny town and of course, everyone knows everyone. When people say that the folks in Ireland are nice..that is an understatement. They are incredible. James was able to put me in contact with some very important people who knew members of my family and they were able to give me so much information to help tie up the loose ends to my story. Because of James, I was able to find my Grandmothers childhood home with ease. I was thrilled to get pictures of it. I also stopped by the local church. While there getting pictures a sweet gentleman pulled up and we began to talk. He also knew my family actually took us to the cemetery where my Great Grandparents were laid to rest. This man went out of his way to help us! You don't find that in the city in the US. :) This vacation was beyond my wildest expectations and James and everyone who played a part in it will forever hold a special place in my heart. When you go to Ireland PLEASE treat yourself and stay at this fantastic retreat with these amazing people. You will NOT be disappointed. Thank you EVERYONE in Tahilla who helped make this a once in a lifetime vacation. I will forever love this little town.…
