The accommodation in the Grove Lodge Holiday Homes (3 Bed house) was super clean and in these Covid times this made us feel very safe in a new environment. The house was bright and well kitted out. The balcony directly overlooks the River Laune with the Reeks in the distance, a perfect outlook. Located just outside Killorglin, it allowed us to easily explore both the Iveragh and Dingle Peninsulas. Killarney and the National Park is a 20/25 minute drive away.
This place ticks all the boxes it meets and vastly exceeds the description on the adverts .?The host Kristina was very helpful. The property is very spacious beside a fast flowing restful river .You are in a private secluded road just off a main highway but only 10 minutes walk from the centre of the large town of Killorglin with 20 pubs and 20 restaurants plus 3 supermarkets.Town and country fuse in a typical Kerry medley to inspire your relaxing.
We stayed at the 2 bedroom apartment in Grove Lodge with our 3 kids. We had a ground floor apartment which was great as we got a small outside area. Location is lovely, and we got the sun all day long. The outside of the holiday homes are kept lovely, really tidy and the place was so quiet! The apartment was nice, a bit dusty and could do with a fresh paint job, but was fine. The only bad thing was the beds. They are rock hard! It was big downer as obviously it wasnt a great night's sleep. Also, the jacuzzi didn't work (wasn't really bothered, but the kids were disappointed) and the coffee machine didn't have any capsules provided. There were 2 loo rolls provided and a small bit of hand-wash so we went out and got a few supplies, but they could easily be stored in the apartment for holiday goers, which was a shame. No problems with the electricity, we barely used any really, considering all the showers we all had and chargers for electronics 😂 The onsite Manager, Kristina was very easy to get in touch with and very helpful (tried to call round to help with the jacuzzi). Killorglin village was really close. The path was unpaved for a small bit but we stayed in single file and it was fine. We had a night in the pub and the locals were really friendly, everyone chipping in to help teach the kids how to play pool! We also ate out a few times there, pub grub and one night went to the Indian in the main street which was amazing and I really recommend. We easily got pizza delivered one night too, or there's an Aldi in the village for stocking up to cook in the apartment. The location is very central. Easy to get to several beaches, Killarney and Dingle too. So for families, it's really good, lots to do, loads of places to eat and drink and it's seriously beautiful! We will definitely be back to Kerry (maybe even the same holiday apartments if they update the mattresses!!)…
