We stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Upon checking in, Sean was helpful and gave great recommendations for what to do in the area. His advice added to our plans in great ways! The room was very clean, the beds were so comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious - served overlooking the river each morning. We enjoyed the short drive to Killarney while still having places to eat in Killorglin and keeping away from the Killarney dinner crowds. We would highly recommend this B & B!

Room Tip: It is an older building so there isn't a lift and the hallways are narrow.

I’ll be honest, this was my first ever b&b stay. We usually choose hotel or Airbnb (entire place) but when doing the ring of Kerry at the last minute one must be a little flexible. We made a great decision choosing this spot, Sean called us the night before to double check we were good on directions. The stay was very comfortable, bed great, great water pressure. My only complaint for the room was the curtains did not keep out any light, we were awake from sunrise. The breakfast was great, although I would skip the scrambled eggs next time. But my partners full Irish was perfect! Would definitely recommend.

We stayed 3 nights, the place is lovely. Sean is the most helpful person I have ever met, he gave us the most wonderful advice for our drive around Kerry. He told us about the best places to visit. Breakfasts were also excellent.

Looks out over Ireland's best salmon river - the Laurne. Lovely garden area to sit and watch the river flowing past. We had a very large room, and large bed. Lovely bay window looking over the river.
Lots of parking spaces.
Breakfast was superb. Huge portions of smoked salmon with my scrambled eggs.
Wonderful staff - friendly and helpful.

We stayed at rivers edge for just 1 night and it was lovely. Sean advised us on what to see & do for our short visit and exuded Kerry warmth& welcome.
The room was clean, comfortable with a nice view of the river. Breakfast was good.
Would recommend a stay here for sure.

The B&B looked nice from outside. My husband and I asked for availability of a double room, and whether there were any issues regarding street noise since the building is right next to a major street. The owner became so amazingly rude and defensive. She told us that she can rent the room to 50 others who do not care about the noise. We left the place thinking this was the worst experience we have had in Ireland over the last week traveling through the country.

Beautiful location but put upstairs in tiny back room, overlooking back yards. Floor space in room was minimal, only enough for one person to stand against a wall, and suitcase against another wall. (that is what our photos show). All other space , even bed, covered with lacy knickknacks, and stuffy old throw pillows, duvets and whatnots. Linen smelt old and musty.Had to put all the tiddly stuff into a short " tallboy" to have at least the beds to sit on- no chair. That made there being nowhere to hang our things- which we couldn't have even if we hadn't stuffed all the throw pillows in the tallboy as it wasn't tall enough to hang coats and such in. Looking back on our photos of this room was a reminder of how crowded it was of unusable fussy stuff. No shelves in bathroom either. Certainly didn't look like any of the internet photos. We have travelled extensively all over the world and are not scared of old or small spaces. However, being disabled and booking some months prior we were surprised at being given an upstairs back room . but even that wouldn't Have been a problem had we not been Told OFF by the B+B owner as he showed us up to our room. He was Rude, Opinionated and even got to the point of being aggressive telling us that "HE wasn't there to make our beds but that HE was too busy with HIS guests." All we had asked was if they had a spare blanket as my husband couldn't sleep under quilts (this had all been pre ordered). We would have left if we hadn't prepaid and we weren't so tired. Next morning the hostess took pains at apologising for our inhospitable host- it seemed to be a usual occurrence. Would I recommend this place to others-Hmmm...... that B+B "host" makes me wonder why people choose to do certain work?

Response from melicof, Owner at Coffey's River's Edge Guesthouse

First time ever replying to a tripadvisor post . Those of you in the business just be thankful you didn't get this one !!!! This lady paid 65€ but wanted 5 star service . After helping this couple with their luggage and showing her and her husband to their room , unfortunately it was a back room , she became very condescending , immediately I knew this was the guest from hell !!!! She mentioned something about her husband not liking the feel of a quilt and that she ordered a blanket , I said there should be one on the bed , if not there would be a spare in the wardrobe , the bell was ringing at reception so I apologised and made my exit or maybe I should say "escape". !!!To make comments on a room is one thing but to assasinate my character in a public forum is the lowest of the low , I have been very upset on reading this ladies attack on my business and on my character . Surprised that tripadvisor allows this!!!! Why did this lady at the end of her review say that my wife apologised for my behaviour , why tell lies. , , this lady never spoke to my wife about me , I work 3 to 4 feet away from reception in the kitchen every word is heard ,, To my friends family and competitors who. know my wife and I , you know how close we are , that is down to a deep loving relationship built on trust honesty and loyalty , . Anne is adamant this lady never spoke to her about me in fact my name was nt even mentioned . This was my only

This charming guesthouse on the banks of the River Laune was home to my wife and me for a week in mid-September. The rooms were clean, quaint, and well appointed. Breakfast was superb, and the location simply can't be beat.

For me though, it was the personal attention I received from Sean that made this place so special. My mother was born and raised in Killorglin in the 1920's, and the last time I'd visited was in 1965. Upon checking in, I told Sean I was interested in trying to find any information pertaining to my mother as well as finding her ancestral home. After asking me a few questions, he referred me to the Catholic church secretary who was a wealth of information. Sean also directed me to the local cemetery where I was able to find the graves of my grandparents, aunts, and uncles. But I was most grateful when Sean told me he thought he might know where my mother's rural home was located and personally drove me right to it. I immediately recognized the place from my 1965 visit and was overcome with emotion. I'd never have found it without Sean's help and, for that, I'll be forever grateful.

You won't go wrong staying at Coffey's River's Edge Guesthouse.

This was the first time I have stayed in a B and B type location and would highly recommend this one. Everything was perfect - the location is great for a place to drive the RIng of Kerry. There is free parking and easy walks to restaurants and pubs and the rooms are very nice. The owner - Sean - is fantastic - very friendly and knowledgable about the area and the best places to drive, etc. The breakfast was made to order and served in a great dining area. We toured Ireland for 9 days and this was our favorite location and hotel.

Manager/owner quite professional and responsible. Offered quite some good suggestions for us to explore the area. Hotel room small, but quite nice and clean with a good view. Breakfast really wonderful. Would definitely stay there again.

I posted this question, regarding 2017, about half an hour ago. I have since been telephoned by a very nice gentleman, the proprietor of Coffey's who has completely set my mind at rest. The business is fully open throughout 2017 as per normal. If I have caused confusion, or concern over what turned out to be merely difficulty in making contact directly, then I unreservedly apologise. Alan.

It may have been 7:30 or 8:00 to 10 but they were so very flexible that I think you could ask for an earlier time if you needed it. You'll love them! We went back to the Killorglin Golf Course several times because it's so beautiful and very affordable. It was also close to Coffeys and not busy.
